Think that´s the rumors of the New England game getting moved to Edmonton out of the window. I just wonder if the FA is gonna bother replacing the pitch after the game this time around .... ROFL!

NFL returning to UK
The National Football League is coming back across the pond. After playing a highly-successful game in London last October, the NFL announced today it will return to the United Kingdom for a competitive game in 2008 as part of the league’s International Series of regular-season games.
“The game in London was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the entire 2007 season,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “The fan interest was tremendous. The passion they demonstrated for our sport that day continued throughout the season, as television viewership in the UK has grown by 40 percent since the game.
“We had an overwhelmingly positive response to the event from all involved – the teams, our sponsors and business partners and of course the fans themselves. We look forward to another spectacular event in 2008.”The NFL will return to the UK in 2008.
Details about the game – including the venue and competing teams – are expected to be confirmed during Super Bowl week (January 28-February 3) in Arizona.
The game at Wembley Stadium on October 28, when the Miami Dolphins hosted the New York Giants, was the first-ever regular season NFL game to be played outside North America. A crowd of 81,176 saw the Giants record a 13-10 victory after the NFL received requests for more than half a million tickets within 72 hours of announcing the game.
In 2006, NFL owners approved a plan to stage a limited number of regular-season games outside the United States every year for the next five years.
NFL UK Managing Director Alistair Kirkwood said: “In the build up to the Wembley game last October I said that it was an audition for future games. Clearly, the fans – with their passion and enthusiasm – have convinced the NFL that the UK should be rewarded with another game in 2008.
“We are very excited as we begin preparations for that game and conclude this historic season next month with BBC TV showing its first-ever Super Bowl and Sky Sports continuing its long-standing relationship with the NFL by airing the game for the 13th straight year.”

I've watched the SuperBowl live in Europe. It started at like midnight or 1 am. Man I was tired the next day.
It is amazing how greedy they are with their product.
Lets deny loyal American fans of a home game in a sport that they built and host it over in Europe because of the extra $$$ from the game and merchandise.
Lets clamp down on games being shown in theaters to protect our revenue stream.
...and on and on.
Where will those extra earned $ go? Owners pockets, players pockets.....but certainly not a reduction in ticket, concession or D* prices.
The NFL better be careful....or they will be supplanted as America's sport just like baseball.

there is talk of some premiership league football (or soccer) being played over seas next season or season after that.
It is rumoured that these games will either be played in the US and or Asia.

The NFL is already making money Rhymes. A lot of it.
They have a great business model right now. Do they really need to screw with it? Keep on ****ing with it and they will alienate the market share that made them what they are.
I wouldn't even have a problem with them going after the dollars overseas if I knew they would take the extra $$$ and take care of the ex-players that made this league...or reduced the cost of joe blow season ticket holder.
Instead it will go to make the mega rich...even richer.
Like I said...they better be careful with their product or they will find people finding the next best thing to worship, spend disposable cash on and start internet forums over.
Maybe a 500,000% ROI is enough.

Perhaps, but I don't see that happening. The bottom line, in my eyes, is that football is a religion in this country. People will never just stop watching. You mention ticket holders. Ticket prices rise yearly, yet people still line up for season tickets.
IMO, the NFL will never fail. They have the perfect business model as it is. Plus, people have their hearts in it. Somebody in this thread said he'd stop being a fan if a SB went oversees. I think that's a lot of big talk and nothing more. Try and think of just waking up and not being a Bronco fan. It's not like turning off a light.

It's not being xenophobic to dislike the loss of an actual home game due to essentially league marketing purposes. If they add another game onto the schedule to perpetuate this nonsense and make up for that loss, then and only then will I be cool with this.

I've watched 2 seasons deployed, and i'm sure that Ratboy and Quit will agree with me that the 9 and midnight starts suck and the fact that getting up at 4 am to watch mnf is even worse. To top it off you get stupid afn commercials. Here's to goin on leave in time to see the super bowl.

I hate the whole idea of playing a regular season game in the UK. I just hope they don't make Denver play overseas one of these years. I have no problem playing a game in Canada or even Mexico, but the League doesn't need to send teams to play games in Europe.

Based on an earlier post in this thread, I am assuming that this is a Saints home-game.
If so....****ing brilliant!
Benson will get his blood money from the Wembley game...but the New Orleans economy gets one less game.
Could they have picked a worse team to rob of a home game?

West coast teams are at a serious disadvantage when it comes to travel time. By contrast, the Superbowl will be the second game this year that New England has played outside of the eastern time zone, the first being Dallas.

American football will just never have the worldwide appeal and accesability of other sports like baseball, soccer, hockey and basketball. It's complete and utter bull**** that they take a regular season game and play it overseas. I'm with the crowd that if they ever do this to the Super Bowl, I will strongly reconsider watching the NFL product ever again.

I always liked the games we played in Japan against SF. It was funny watching the Japanese fans cheering on plays that wernt suppose to be cheered on. But they got way better the 2nd time around. I did hate the one we played in Mexico(think it was there) just because Elway got hurt in that one. But if they are going to do it I think they should force every team to do it at least once during the season and it cant be a matchup in your division.

I bet the League and the owners are slobbering all over themselves hoping this UK experiment works and they can get a team in the UK. How much is the buyin fee for new teams? It's millions for nothing to the current franchises. But the League will have to add another team to complete the pair, and where they can find a viable city for that, I don't know. Albuquerque, SLC, LA, Vegas, Lincoln, Houston, Birmingham????

Smells like an away game. Hey BLUE: Since I am a Chargers season ticket holder, I can see if we are eligible to buy away game tickets for the game. If so, let me know if you want to go and I gladly accept Euros instead of greenbacks! Better if you have paypal account. I have no details as they just emailed me about the game being there but no ticket info. As soon as they state, I will let you know.

I wont know until they give more info but it will say , "No chicks allowed!" so keep her at home. She probably has no clue on it anyways but just in case, bring a "mate" over a girl to this one. BTW: OT here. Is the show Coupling still on in England? I watch BBC America and that show is pretty good IMO. Plus the shows there can say "Sheat" and Bullocks for gonads. Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares is best when he isnt bleeped every 5 seconds.
