Broncos' Graham will not be charged
By Mike McPhee
The Denver Post

No charges will be filed against Bronco tight end Daniel Graham, according to his attorney Harvey Steinberg.

Graham, 29, was arrested early in the morning of Jan. 11 after his former girlfriend complained he was being argumentative and angry and wouldn't leave. She said he hit a bed and damaged it.

He was arrested on charges of first-degree trespassing and criminal mischief. The charges were to be filed in court Friday but the District Attorney's office agreed today not to file them, Steinberg said.

"This is the problem when police rush to arrest individuals without a complete, thorough and full investigation," Steinberg said.

"Once that was concluded, the police determined that Daniel Graham had done nothing wrong. And there was absolutely no basis to believe he had committed a crime.

"The police leaked the information to the press that he had been arrested. So now, how do we restore Mr. Graham's stellar reputation?"

Graham, the son of former Bronco linebacker Tom Graham, played for Thomas Jefferson High School and CU. He was named the nation's top collegiate tight end in 2001. He played four seasons with the New England Patriots before signing with the Broncos last March.

This really isn't on law enforcement here. Currently in America with such a focus on domestic violence and people who will sue over anything, police really have no choice in the matter.

Had the police not done anything, and later Graham or his girlfriend caused serious physical harm/death to the other, the department could be held liable and would be left with a huge black eye when it comes to the public.

Simply put in any domestic situation like this the police will simply determine who was the aggressor, take that person to jail and leave it to the courts to sort out the mess.

Nice to see him go unscathed, hopefully he wont put himself into anymore situations where he can get into potential trouble.

Yeah this sounded like it wasn't a big deal and it's good to know that it wasn't. As I said before, athletes need to watch themselves because a lot of people are going to try and take care of them.
