View Full Version : You know, we could have saved the Cowboys and Bears a lot of trouble.

Wade Philips and Brian Griese. Ugh.

I know it's easy to point fingers in hindsight, but come on, who didn't see those nose dives coming?

I especially liked arguing with Bears' fans on other boards about how Griese sucks. They were SURE that he was the man. And granted, when you have Grossman everybody looks good. But boy did I give a whole lot of "Told you so's" to people.

There's really no point to this thread. Jake should come out of retirement, and then throw 25 INTs for the Bucs. It'd be the trifecta.

You too? I tried telling Bears fans the Griese would do just enough to not win the game for them. They wouldn't listen though.

Oh absolutely. I told them they weren't upgrading at all, and might even be downgrading. Now I do cut them some slack, because at many points, it didn't look like you could actually downgrade from Rex Grossman... But I'd seen enough Griese in my time to know he would produce nothing for them.

Not to defend Griese or Grossman, but it would have been nice if the Bears had a decent running back to help out.

Lovie Smith wouldn't have even gone NEAR Griese if Grossman was more consistent as a quarterback. They probably made a mistake by getting rid of Thomas Jones, who had a decent year with the Jets...

I don't know how Wade can be blamed for Tony Romo reverting back to the scrub status that he established during his first four seasons in the League. Maybe he should have kicked his wunderkind OC in the ass a few weeks earlier and explained to him that Marion Barber was their best player on offense, but that's about all I can find that he did wrong.

And Gus Frerotten can come off the bench to toss a few picks for the Lambs, too. :clown:
