From what I can gather...
1. Ron Paul had a staff working on this stuff.
2. The offensive (racist) stuff took place at about the 1992 time frame.
3. He says he was busy practicing medicing, and travelling around the country at this time and took his eye off the ball.
4. He says that several people were circulated through the office during this time period, and he has no way to account for who wrote what and when.
I'm guessing that he did have an editor on his staff at this time who could account and be held responsible for this, but Ron Paul is too loyal to just throw that person to the wolves.

Yeah silly me . thinking a guy didnt know what going on in a news letter with his name on it , it is absurd to think even a friend might have picked one of those papers up in a 10 year span and would have told RP hey look what is being printed under your name or someone call up Ron paul and say hey what is with this ...... I am sure RP was way to busy to pick up the news letter and read one ........::)

So, if he's a racist, why is he forwarding a plan that would free black men who are in prison for non-violent drug offenses? You're like some toddler sitting in the corner, covering your ears, and screaming, "Nyah, nyah, nyah."

You know, I'm a big RP guy. And I'll still be voting for him in my primary. BUT, I kinda agree with Spider here. On the one hand, I don't believe the guy is a racist. I don't think that he wrote all that.

But you're telling me not one person pulled him aside and showed him this? What I wonder, and maybe I missed it here, but how many editions of these newsletters were circulated? 1? 5? 20? How long did this go on?

As far as I can tell, the racist stuff was contained to about the 1992 timeframe...

OK, so a year. Do you by chance know anything further about these newsletters? Monthly, I assume?

Like I said, I really like the guy... But you're telling me that 12 different newsletters of this stuff, and he didn't see it, and nobody brought it to him? I don't know...

I don't know for sure. And the campaign communications director is an inexperienced kid in over his head right now.

What I know is that I don't personally believe Dr. Paul is a racist. His heroes are the Jewish Ludwig von Mises, and Murray Rothbard. He hails Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks in interviews going back at least to the 90's that I've seen for their peaceful civil disobedience (Ghandi as well).

I'm led to one of the following conclusions:

1. He's a racist who knew what was going on, but on the side he would go against his racist tendancies by hailing his Jewish heroes as mental giants and build his life philosophy around their writings. He would supplement this by speaking favorably of two of the most hated figures in White Nationalism.

2. He's not a racist, but knew this stuff was going on, and permitted it anyway just for kicks.

3. He's not a racist. He didn't know that racist things were being published because he was so wrapped up in his medicinal practice, while at the same time he was in demand all over the country for speaking engagements. He turned it over to his staff which constantly rotated, and trusted the wrong person to edit the articles. He's too loyal to throw that person under the bus now, even though he probably feels betrayed by that person. He figures that since it was his name on the newsletters, he bears moral responsibility for them, and so he takes that moral responsibility - while denying that he's racist, as his life's work shows him to be a champion for all races and people.

As far as I can tell, these are about the only three options there are - these or some variation of them. Personally, I'm guessing it's number 3, partly because the first two don't make much sense to me, but mostly because I find it very hard to believe that Dr. Paul is a racist based on everything I've heard him say about the collectivist nature of racism.

LOL Iam the toddler ROFL! ....... if Ron Paul told you the world was flat , and Harry Potter was real , you would believe it ....... Ron Paul says the message you need to hear , you want to hear , you will dismiss everything else to cling on to hope

I have heard Lew Rockwell was the ghost writer of the Ron Paul newsletter.
Lew Rockwell is a close friend of Ron Paul. So if that's true, do you
mean to say Ron Paul's friend never even bothered to talk to Ron Paul
about what he was writing in Ron's name?

It's worth noting that Dr. Paul has mentioned this gentleman as a potential candidate for Vice President based on his economic prowess.
