If you HAD to choose a Republican, who would it be? And please, only Democrats and left-leaning folks for this poll.

good to see you made this one public..."Your who are you voting for one"was cool but without a name behind the vote it really doesn't mean much IMO.

There is no one else that is viable that's in the race. Hunter has not received more than 2% in any poll.

I know's he's got the money Khan and technically he might be ahead in delegates, but what matters at this stage is public perception re: the frontrunner, what matters is the Big Mo. Romney can't win a big time primary..look at what happened to Clinton, after she lost Iowa, and right before the NH primary, a new batch of polls regarding alot of the other states showed her lead in those states collapsed as a result of Iowa. The same thing is happening on our side....McCain just won NH, and now a poll came out today saying he is up 9 in Michigan (although there is another poll that said that Huckabee was ahead in Michigan, but only by a point). Look at Rudy, his strategy was to take a few hits and hope Florida was a firewall, well, the hits elsewhere have cost him in Florida. It's all about the Big Mo....as of right now, the delegate counts don't really matter.

Delegate Count
09 Jan 2008 09:24 am
Mitt Romney's boat of having won "two silvers and a gold" based on second place finishes in Iowa and New Hampshire, plus a victory in the Wyoming quasi-caucus sounded ridiculous last night. That said, he's actually leading in the delegate count. I saw some sentiment on TV last night that Michigan is must win for Romney, but I don't really see it that way. Second place finishes are survivable for Romney as long as different people are beating him in different places and as long as he keeps picking up delegates. The GOP side has more winner-take-all primaries than does the Democratic side and, clearly, you can't lose all of those. But basically while Romney's not in good shape, he's in at least okay shape.

If there's anything we know it's the polls mean jack. As I sated in another thread, Romney could finish second in the rest of the states and end up winning the election - especially the way Schmuckabee and McLame keep going first to third depending on the group. Romney is the only candidate in the lead that has any core values that jive with the Republican base. The core of Republicans hate McCain and the fiscal conservatives are leery of Huckabee. I'll admit that Romney is a bit of a weeney and I'm not thrilled with him, but with Giuliani looking to be dead, he's the next best thing to what I believe.

when you get past Michigan and we get to "Republican only" primaries, Romney will emerge as frontrunner and nominee. If you looked at the internals in NH, you would see that Romney beat McCain among registered Republicans. When we get to Super Tuesday, McCain and Huckabee are toast.

He's leading everyone dipshlt! And he has just as many wins as McCain and Huckabee.
McCain will win Michigan but only because Democrats and Indies can vote there. After that, he's done. Just like 2000. He f@cked the base over way too many times for us to give him the nomination. Huckabee is done too.
And no...it won't be because of an attack. McCain is a great man, a horrible senator, and a RINO. And the base knows it. So he gets his 2 insignificant wins, and all that will do is get his lil pecker hard 1 last time...then, he is done.
Ill bet you a grand that Romney is the nominee. And if he goes against Hillary he is the next president.

In fact McCain has to be more than a little worried about the fact that he won with a greater margin in New Hampshire in 2000 and still lost. Romney was right there in the thick of it. As I said all Romney has to do is finish second in every state and the up-down of McCain and Huckabee will put Romney in as the guy.

Based on what? The panderer/flip-flopper label goes right out the window
as something the GOP can use against Hillary. The religious right isn't
going to vote for him. Hillary gets the women, black, and Hispanic vote.
So whose left to vote for Romney, he doesn't even have all of the Bush

based on the fact that nothing will unite the base like a Hillary nomination. Look at it as if Bush figured out a way to run for a 3rd term. What do you think your party's turnout would be like?
Have you even checked out her negatives? How in the hell could you win a general with negatives hovering around the 50's?
Just need your girl to hang on and get the nomination.

Have you ever checked Hillary's positives with Democrats?
Just because 50% think they aren't going to vote for Hillary
right now doesn't translate into them voting for someone else
in November. A) She could win some of them over. B) Some
of them just might not vote. C) Romney's negatives are

I'm guessing, soon enough, he will shift some of his emphasis to the economy and how he will recover it from it's slide. Specifically how he will recover it. Once he gets that message out and proves he can recover it in a reasonably expeditious manner, McCain and the Huckster will be history. They nor any other candidate on the democratic side hold a candle to him with respect to properly handling the economy and the maintaining the value of the dollar wrt the rest of the world's currencies...dman

Actually, that would be sort of poetical justice. Take a guy who made all his millions through leveraged buyouts, robbing companies of their equity and laying off their workers, and put him in charge of the country. Can he pull an LBO on China? Ha!
Like Pat Buchanan said, the GOP is already dead. George Bush shot it right between the eyes. The only thing left to do is shovel in the dirt.
