View Full Version : Donnie Avery - WR - Houston
Before the OL blew up Cutler multiple times on MNF, I had visions of bringing this guy in to be our deep threat at WR. Probably a 2nd round pick with great speed. He's been excellent for Houston over his career.
Houston/TCU Game should be on NFL Network if anybody is interested in watching the guy. He wears #2.
*** FYI, Houston lost to TCU 20-13 but Avery still caught 10 passes for 120yds. ***

I don't think he's round 2 material, but could make first day. He's fast, but pretty small. If he can hold up, he seems to have some Steve Smith in him.
I want Darius Reynaud of West Virginia if we get a WR/Returnman. He's got about 10 lbs on Avery and will be there much later. I think the O he played in at WVU will hurt his draft status. Dude can play though and could be a nice returnman for us while learning from Stokley how to develop his slot game.

I think they go DT, OL, or LB on the first day....

Damn, that kid is quick! I am finally catching up on some needed draft film watching And this kid was in the "need to see" list from a friend. Things change, but he is currently a second round value from most sources bpc. Need to watch him some more, the DL were just too depressing this year ;D

Harry Douglas is another small guy but nice deep threat.

Louisville kid right? I have to check him out later. Question: What does DEN do if Calias Campbell is sitting there on our pick?

Considering we took two DEs last year, probably nothing.

Nothing....we have already made our investment in DEs. It's irrelevant who is sitting there. I don't believe in BPA (even though I like Campbell alot, especially if he can regain his 2006 form).
BTW, Med, what do you think of your two FSU WRs, Carr and Fagg? Carr would be a huge beast in the red zone with his height and leaping ability. He's pretty strong too, but has not fully developed I dont think, and Fagg had some dropsies this year, I still think they are good prospects for DEN to watch, although I think your best WR is Sophomore Preston Parker.

Carr could be a fantastic NFL WR if he could get away from that woeful FSU offense ;D However, the Indiana Kid James Hardy is a better talent overall than Carr right now. He is more complete and accomplished at this point.
I brought up Campbell only to see your response. I still think we are several DL away from being average and the DT class scares the crap out of me at this point unless some stud Juniors declare. I really want to see development out of the young guys on the DL, but they all scare the crap out of me at this point as well.

Another guy to consider as a WR/PR is Kenny Moore of Wake Forest. He has good speed, but is not the jet that some are, but he is smart, excellent hands, has great vision and openfield moves. I'd drop a 4th rounder on him in a heartbeat.

Atwater, before I go to Minneapolis (bus ride, six hours!) I thought I'd tell you the first day is only rounds one and two now. ;)

Totally agree. I hate that I have liked several Wake Forest players better than my beloved Seminoles the last few years ;D
I think he is another Athlete with playmaking ability. He could also play DB and return Kicks....

The question really arise is the organization trying to get a starter to replace Walker or 3rd Wr to play the slot? If we're looking for starter then I all for going after Hardy, Monk Or Carr. Big bodies that can go across the middle in the WCO.
IF we're are looking for slot guy and PR/KR I like Royal out of VT or Reynard out of WVU.
