Greetings, Broncos fans,
I come in peace. I am a frequent poster on Chiefsplanet, and have occasionally used my orangemane account when the Chiefsplanet site goes down. If Taco John still runs this place, he'll vouch that I am not a rabblerouser, other than perhaps spontaneous unavoidable eruptions of my intense hatred of all things Bronco and Elway.
That aside, I'm participating in a bulletin board research study and ask for your cooperation. The topic came up on Chiefsplanet about wearing the jerseys of retired players. I would like to see how common the practice is among our two great nations, as compared to wearing jerseys of current players, and so am posting parallel polls on both Chiefsplanet and Orangemane. You can see the Chiefsplanet poll here:
http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=177515
If you're really interested, and you probably aren't, you can see the original thread that started the thought here: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=174999. (I present this only in the interest of full disclosure. If you are a fan of Elway, you may be angered by this thread and will not want to click on it.)
Anyway, I shall post a poll shortly, and would appreciate your cooperation. You are also welcome to continue viewing the Chiefsplanet version if you would like to observe that voting. Please do not attempt to corrupt the Chiefsplanet poll and I will ask them not to corrupt your poll, and anyone who violates this trust will be cursed to being a Chargers fan for the remainder of eternity.
Rules:
1. Any jersey counts - replica, authentic, game-worn, autographed, an orange t-shirt on which you wrote a number in magic marker, anything.
2. Wearing counts in any context. It could be one you wore to a game to cheer on your team, one you wore to a football-watching party, or one you wore to mow your lawn. Doesn't matter.
3. Wearing must have taken place during the calendar year of 2007, using the Julian calendar.

Only have JE authentic jersey, far more comfortable than the McCaffrey, Davis and Rod replicas, they stay on the wall. Ian Gold's (signed by the way) is on the verge of being binned.LOL

You're lucky I can't narrow it down to less than 50,000 fans in the stands wearing Elway jerseys, or you would be in significant danger.

Oh and everyone should go to his thread at CP that started it all, hilarious. Leave it to a Cheffie fan to obsess over another team's retired player. It's like announcing to the entire board that you have no life.

You apparently do not appreciate a good anthropological study when you see it. I merely seek to understand a behavioral phenomenon I do not understand.

I haven't read the thread on CP, so there may be more to it than what I understand...but it seems that you should allow multiple votes for this poll. That way you could see which jerseys we've worn in all of the past year, not just the most recent one. Since you're looking at this as an "anthropological study", I would think you'd like to see the entire trend (retired to active player jersey wearing). What's the point of only knowing the very last jersey we wore, when it may be an outlier? I mean, say I most recently wore a Cutler jersey. But 90% of the time, I wear Elway, McCaffrey, Sharpe, or Atwater. Isn't it more important to understand the trend rather than a single instance?

I wore Champ most recently (last weekend). But for the whole season, I've also worn Rod Smith, Elway, TD, Romanowski, and Cutler. This weekend I'll probably be going with an Elway throwback. So I'm pretty well split between retired and active.

I wear my own name w/ the #11, orange home and a white away...authentic of course.
I got real tired of shelling out for transient players every other year at an increase of 20 smacks per year, so I said to hell with it and got my own name on it.....a one time purchase that has already paid for itself many times over.

I wore the 44 of the great Floyd Little on Christmas Eve.
If I ever shelled out for a "real" player, past or present, again...it would be for Floyd.
I scoured the Earth looking for one of those, even had a few half-assed made in the Phillippines that never really turned out to my liking (sold them all on eBay, they were hidious)....unless it was one of those signed ones on eBay, so may I ask where you got this holiest of grails Slap?

Yeah, that's one of those signed ones....historically incorrect, as B-Love would tell you, and in about a XXXL size. I had one of those as well and am not really interested in them.

It was historically incorrect, wayyy too big and felt just wrong wearing a signed one that was more of a collectable than a wearable jersey.
...and one of the 4's was missewn on it (one slightly, but noticable, higher than the other on the front).

That was true, at least until Shawn Phillips blew past a laconic Graham for an easy sack Monday Night .... ughh.

I still have the first jersey I ever got. Its on its second trip to Iraq...only jersey I brought with this time. Its my #7 that has been around since the mid 90's...its one of those classics where the 7's on front and back are fading and the elway is still there.

One of these days - this winter for sure - I'm gonna take the drive down to Floyd's dealership (about 75 miles south of Seattle) and get a photo and autograph. I'll prolly post before I go in case anybody wants me to get something signed for them. It's so funny, I'm 46 years old now, but when I see him I just know I'll immeditely revert to that 12 year-old kid waiting patiently for him to come round the corner of that quansut hut after practice on 58th Street in the early 70s .... ::)

Best thing about sporting 44 is nobody else will ever wear the number, so there's no chance of being disappointed by on field play or embarrassed by off field bull****.
