Developed into the Commodores' top offensive lineman and one of the premier tackles in the Southeastern Conference... League coaches tabbed Williams as a postseason second team All-SEC recipient... In postseason ceremonies, earned team's Most Valuable Offensive Lineman Award from coaching staff... Started every game protecting quarterback's blind side at left tackle, running his consecutive start streak to 21 games... Constantly earned unit's top blocking grade... Shared team Offensive Player of the Week honors with receiver Earl Bennett following performance in win over Temple, then shared the same recognition with QB Chris Nickson following narrow loss at Kentucky... Earned the team offensive award outright for his performance in season finale versus Tennessee... After allowing one quarterback sack in the opener at Michigan, did not allow another in the final 11 games.

Why do you feel that way? The SEC is the toughest division in football. He has gone against LSU, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, Arkansas, Kentucky, with out allowing a sack. That is pretty good.

SEC East is nation's toughest division
Since 1990, the SEC has won 121 national team championships for an average of nearly seven per year.

The best tackle in the SEC this year was a sophomore. I like Chris Williams personally, but he has nothing on this guy.

Big 10 was weak this year.
We should have 5 OT's on our radar right now and shoudl have a good chance to land any one of these.
1. Jeff Otah
2. Ryan Clady
3. Phillip Loadholt (Could easily be the clear cut #1, I need to watch some tape I have on him.)<a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/7901/loadholthq0.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a><br/>

Loadholt is a monster.
A player I would love to see us get who may be around for our second selection is George Robinson, who plays Guard at Oklahoma. He's great in both phases of the offense.
With Cut in the fold, we need to begin looking at a pass pro friendly line.

Last time I had heard two names mentioned were Clady and Baker, but I would love to try and get Williams as well - possibly in early round two. With some juniors like Loadholt, etc. expected to declare, we could have a GREAT opportunity to land a future LT. Clady/Loadholt/Otah would be my round one guys. Williams would be a nice dude as well in early round two.
If we could get John Greco out of Toledo somewhere on Day 2, that'd be awesome as well.

so did George Foster...what's your point? Ha!
Foster didn't play that much in college and I'm pretty sure he didn't go through the SEC games without allowing a sack.
Tough to say. I'm very high on Otah's future potential. The guy could be great in both the running and passing game. With only 5 years of football under his belt, his best days are ahead of him and i've seen enough on film to think that he will reach that potential. That being said he'll be a two year project when he comes in. He has a lot of fundamental things he needs to work on. I also think if we were to draft him, he would get put through the fat camp that Foster did when he came to Denver. He could shed a few pounds and get into better shape.
Loadholt would be a top 5 selection if he stayed at OU next year. Potentially the best pass blocker in this group when its all said and done because of his size, athletic ability and wingspan. He still needs some seasoning but he has great written all over him. I don't know if he'll have the same potential in the running game that Otah does though. The two are built much differently.

William would be a good pick for the Broncos in the second or 3 round. I like Ryan Clady and Tony Hills more but would be happy to get Williams in the 2 or 3. Williams is a player to keep a eye on during Senior bowl and Combines.i would love this draft 1 Laurinatis 2a Pat Sims or Okam 2b Foxworth trade to New England .Chis Williams

Two years ago Broncs took CBs with their first three picks. Last year they took DEs with the first two picks. If they ever wanted to draft two bookend OTs to carry the team the next ten years, this is the year.

Sort of like Dallas did with Marten and Free last year. I'd like to see Denver try something similar, even though I like Harris. Get a guy in the top two rounds, pick up a guy in the fourth or so - we'd have our options set. Good thoughts bud.

Yeah, that's right! He broke is leg. . . I wonder if he'll be all good to go for the combine? Didn't you also say Oakland's pick could escalate to a 4th too if Warren keeps producing/playing? That'd be three fourth rounders. Last time we had that, we came out pretty well. Come on! Woooo!

We don't need to have a fatty. As mediator said we've been running a lot of Cover 2 variations, he'd fit into that Cover 2 DT mode real well.
I gotta say, I would be pretty pissed if we passed up a franchise LT for a cover 2 DT.
Corey Williams can do it all as a DT. Throw the kitchen sink at him.
I'm really baffled about what direction we are going in on our defensive front. We've all been gearing our heads to getting players in for Bates defense... now i'm hearing that they are running a dumbed down version of Slowik's defense. Who knows if Bates is going to be here or not. IT definitely throws a wrench into the scheme of things.
As that is, you don't pass up some of these LT's and i'm actually hedging on trading back even if we got a really good deal.
Req, I just watched the OU/Miami game where he was paired up against Campbell most plays... he dominated him. The guy is going to be great.
I would rank out my LT's like this now:
1. Loadholt - The guy could have a career rivaling Jonathan Ogden.
2. Clady (ready to play)
3. Otah (More upside in the run game vs. Loadholt and Clady however more raw as well, only 5 years of football)
4. Baker
5. Williams (Have not seen film yet, has hype.)

Well I dont really understand how the cover 2 works but dont we still need a fatty to stop the run or atleast a run stopping DT and those r usually the big 300+ guys...I mean were not gonna get anything done on defense if we still cant stop the run and it makes the best player on the team almost non effective for another season..

There are always fatty giants out there -- see back-flip boy -- but you need someone who can hold the point of attack and has the speed to catch someone in space. That means you need to drop at least a third round pick to get someone who may stick. This past year I think were were very lucky to get someone who will be good long-term (who we only got in the fourth because of character issues.)

Yes I know there are plenty of fat guys out there but who cares about em if they just stand their and do nothing...Albert Haynesworth is the type of player im talking about,, he is an absolute beast and I am very glad he didnt play against the Broncos..He controls that Dline on the titans and even when hes doubled teamed he still makes plays..Yes I know its his contract year but Im talking about someone whos a beast..Look at all the good Run defenses most of them have well known DTs... we cant just stick garbage in there like we have been doing.. we need to get someone and I guess an option is Corey Williams in FA and Albert Haynesworth but he wont be let go. And yes I agree with you about Marcus Thomas I think he will be a good one...Im just saying I want the best Dline possible because with the corners they broncos have that defense would be amazing..I mean think of how amazing the defense would be with the Vikings front 7 WOWOWOW..I think this draft should almost be all Oline and Dline and throw a LB in there

You can't lose to Stanford and have that title. And I'm sympathetic to Dennis Dixon's injury, but you have to at least be in the top 25.

USC was hurt in that game against Stanford..Bootys finger was broken and they were up 16-0 at half before that happened and he messed everything up..Dennis Dixon carried that whole offense..For example take Vince Young off the Rose Bowl team and theyre going to drop down big time and start losing..Im not comparing Dennis Dixon to Vince Young btw its just and example

USC, with or without Booty, has no business losing to Stanford..much less at the Coliseum! You don't play scrimmage games like Stanford, Washington, Washington State in the Big 12, sans Baylor.

Like I said I never said anything bad about the big 12 but dont gimme the scrimmage games thing..somehow missouri and kansas were good this yr that wont be a constant either and im sorry for all you colorado fans on this board but thats not too good of a team either..the conference is pretty average other than Oklahoma, Texas and usually Nebraska.but it was a little different this year and I would have considered Oklahoma for the top Bowl game as well

NO. I've been on record saying that I want OT in round 1. I'm putting all my marbles in that bag.
If you have a chance to get good value, you go for it though. I'm not against spending one of our 4th round on a guy like Tony Hill even if we do draft one in the 1st round.

I would love to do this . Trade down about 6 spots and pick up a 3 and 6 rounder. Maybe with Minnesota so they can get a qb. Then draft 1a Ryan Clady 2 Frank Okam 3 Chis Williams. Then sign Corey Williams and Darsby as free agents. The Broncos pickup Bookend tackles for the next 10 years that can play Lt or RT . Both Williams and Clady are good pass blockers and run blockers. The Broncos have two good dt in Okam and Williams that fit Bates scheme. They also have 2 play making Linebackers in Darsby and Williams that both could play middle linebacker.

I think that you are pretty well on about Loadholt. Loadholt is a dream pass blocker. He's really pretty agile. OU pulled him out in toss plays occasionally and he could lock step with the linebackers.
Loadholt has the tools to be the best lineman of his generation, but I have concerns about his intelligence. He's a great football player though.

I think he was joking. And the Big Ten was 2-1 vs the SEC in bowl games last year (The conference considered the best in all of college football). You're basing your opinion solely off of last years national championship game, which has nothing to do with this year. The Big game should be OSU vs Oklahoma, but the media's man crush on LSU who demolished Tennessee in their championship game 21-14 on an errant throw by Erik Ainge put them in. Overall the SEC is better, but these games are never favorable to the Big Ten since they are always playing on a site which favors their competition. Anyways, back to the original discussion, I like Alex Boone out of OSU, Michael Oher out of Miss, but both must declare. This could be a great tackle class if they all declare, I wouldn't mind getting 2.

BTW....Hate to poke a major hole in your arguement, but OSU has the 34th toughest schedule and USC has the 77th. It's not about who is playing the best at the end of the year, the championship is based upon a body of work. If the Royals are one of the worst teams in baseball for every month, but the final month of the season, should they play in the world series. USC lost to STANFORD, it's like like Elway was the QB. All of the top talent in the country wants to play at the warm weather schools like Florida and USC. USC has the best talent in the country and still can't beat Stanford.

hmm ya that strength of schedule sure did kill USC when all was said and done..When they played each team in the PAC 10 im pretty sure they were all in th top 10 at that point and healthy including Oregon, which USC lost but was a very close game with Sanchez at the helm...All Im saying is USC as of right now would beat anyone in the Nation and a healthy Oregon would be right next to them..Thats why they really need to bring playoffs into the system and they could prove my point..I really dont think Ohio St would be able to keep up with a team like USC with sucha pour QB and offense..I dont think LSU would either I mean cmon they lost to Arkansas..ya it was in tripple OT but Arkansas was showing LSU what they were going to do every play with having McFadden play the role of Qb obviously they were going to run it..USC with major losses to the Oline and a hurt QB suffered for 1 game and another barely against a Healthy Oregon..but they were easily playing the best down the stretch and still had a good record
