Funny stuff. It's just like celebritites that fly all over the place to tell us to leave a smaller carbon footprint all the while guzzling jet fuel to get there.

At least those celebs have a step on politicians like Bush who guzzle the fuel (and do everything in their power to see to it that the rest of us guzzle as much as possible too) while denying the reality of global climate change and pouring gasoline on the fire, so to speak.

Why do you change every thread to a Bush bash fest? Don't you get sick of it? All we are doing in this thread is making fun of someone who hates capitalism while wearing a tie that wouldn't be available without it.

You were the one who changed the subject to 'celebs who fly all over the place,' etc.
You didn't really think I was going to let that one go unanswered, did you?
In any case, I have to laugh at your tactic of dismissing inconvenient truths about Bush as "Bush bashing."
Bush and celebrities have nothing to do with the news story.
Note that LABF never criticizes a genuine deflection when it attempts to take the focus away from a critique of his dogma...

Celebrities apply because they chastise energy users while jet setting all over the place. This guy chastises capitalism while wearing a tie that is decadent and produced from capitalism. If you have to make your addition a Bush bushing then so bit it LA BRONCO FAN but the point stands that you turn everything into a Bush bash fest.
Apparently W*GS can't see who changed the subject to celebs.
And you deflected to Bush. Geezus, does everything come back to him regardless?

So if a politician is on record dismissing climate change as junk science,
that gives them a free pass to be wasteful and pollute the air?

You simply reduce every uncomfortable reality or inconvenient truth about Bush to "Bush bashing."
That way, you don't have to concern yourself with whether what's being said is true or false.
It's a common neocon tactic.

Gore never said he invented the internet. It's you right wing clowns who
make the claim that Gore said he invented the internet as a way to
ridicule Gore. You guys are too stupid to know the facts and just end
up looking even more stupid to the people that know the true story
about Gore and the internet. What's more, if you are so stupid about
Gore and the internet, how do we trust anything you people have to say
about Gore and Global warming?
As usual, LABF brings up Bush to deflect from the utter and base hypocrisy of his comrades down in Venezuela...

That's not what I said (which makes this another straw man argument on your part.) I said that you try to reduce inconvenient truths about Bush to "Bush bashing" so you don't have to evaluate whether they are true or false.
I mean Gore isn't even original, this is the guy who invented the interent(sic)
There you go repeating an already-discredited, right-wing smear/urban legend again.
This kind of thing isn't strengthening your position here - it's just making you appear foolish/dishonest.

It's a straw man because you said I say everything is Bush bashing when in fact I only singled you out for that. One of the defintitions of a straw man argument is as an informal falacy by overstating the other persons position. IE you saying I support Bush at every turn no matter what when I am on record as disagreeing with many of his policies. So I in fact agree and disagree with Bush, while you only bash. So in fact you are the one using the Straw Man informal falacy technique of debating.

I can understand why liberals don't like Bush. I mean he has been a bad President because the people don't like him anymore and he made some stupid decisions. One of the ways you determine if someone is a good leader is by his support. He is by no means as bad as the left makes him out however and has had a few victories.
What I can't understand is why they would like Chavez.

Fixed it for you.
I didn't "bring up" Chavez, LABF. The thread is about the hypocrisy of Venezuela's political elite - peddling socialism while they enjoy the (imported) luxury goods created by capitalists.
You've tried and tried to deflect away from that. Why? Because you're too embarrassed and ashamed of your ideology's most ardent adherents betraying it by being stinking hypocrites? I suspect so.

I didn't read your article. I have you on ignore - although sometimes it's difficult not to peek at your posts for their entertainment value.
I was responding to cutthemdown's comment about celebs (your reading comprehension game must be slipping if you missed that.)
In any event, if anyone needs to be 'ashamed' of his ideology it's you.
You have an idealized belief in a right-wing libertarian ideology which exists only in your utopian dreams, i.e., has no basis in reality. You're so deluded you can't even see it - you're like a member of a cult (the cult of Coulter, Rand, & AEI.)
Your ideology is informed by think tanks like AEI, Weekly Standard, etc, who just produce propaganda pieces disguised as legitimate studies and reports when, in reality, they're all funded by right-wing millionaires/billionaires.
You are naive/idealistic in your academic/theoretical ivory tower libertarianism. Your brand of libertarianism only works in some efficient utopian dream where all markets are efficient, everyone is super-educated, and everyone knows enough about the market to make the best choices (never going to happen!) All your tripe about 'efficient markets' exists only in the utopian dreams of die-hard, right-wing libertarians. In the real world, all your claims are just bullsh*t (we already had laissez-faire markets before the 1930s, and the libertarians just say, "oh, the excesses and exploitations would have worked themselves out - just slower." :bs:)
You would have America go back to the laissez-faire good old days when businesses could pay workers pennies, work them 12-14 hours/7 days a week - because businesses can operate however they want - with no regulations (as evidenced by your defense of Wal-Mart practices, etc.)
Your apologist excuses for the current oligopoly is despicable, especially when Keys & Adams both said capitalism thrives on and requires competition. You crow about 'efficient markets' - yet you defend corporatism at every turn.
Wow - a whole army of strawmen decimated at the hands of LABF...
I'm truly impressed. Truly.
All that verbiage and you still haven't addressed why your comrades down in Venezuela are such hypocrites.
PS - I'll take my ideology over yours any day - remember, it was your dogma that "rewarded" humanity with Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, and Kim Il-Sung. You may want to cover up 100 million corpses, but none of the rest of us are buying it.

But those folks were authoritarians, like Hitler, not libertarians like you

not because they want to give the people more rights and freedoms.
