Some potentially relevant Denver sports news.....
Poking around the internet today I saw this article from STL regarding Georgia Frontiere's illness and who will ultimately get the Rams. In order for the minority owner to become the majority owner (which some say is in the works) then he would have to sell his Denver franchises to abide by NLF rules.
Here is the article and I have pieced the relevant pieces below:
http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/columnists.nsf/berniemiklasz/story/490AC6A56202C687862573B0001D2B0C?OpenDocument
It turns out that Stan Kroenke owns a 40 percent stake in the Rams and has the right of first refusal on any sale, but he also owns the Denver Nuggets, the National Lacrosse League’s Colorado Mammoth, the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer, and a one-third interest in the Arena Football League’s Colorado Crush.
The NFL prohibits cross ownership, so Kroenke wouldn't be approved as the Rams' majority partner unless he sells the Denver franchises.
In the past, it's been speculated that Kroenke would be able to work out something with the NFL ... but not so fast. The NFL is inflexible on the rule. "Stan would have real trouble with the league" in trying to purchase control of the Rams, according to one source in the NFL office.
It is my understanding that the rule is:
In order to own (majority ownership) of an NFL franchise, you can NOT own another major sports franchise in another NFL CITY.

I doubt it, only because everything I've read about the guy is that his passion is hoops.
But I don't really know how badly he wants an NFL team.

I also read somewhere that he is a native Missourian. That could play into the "boyhood dream" thing.
Bad news for the Nuggs if it happens. The guy has really done a great job as owner for us.

Let's just say I won't shed a tear when Georgia exits. I hope she clears her soul on her deathbed and tells us all how she whacked Carroll Rosenbloom. Hopefully, Kroenke takes the Rams back to L.A. where they should never have left in the first place.

Its a shame because Kroenke has been pushing like hell to purchase the Rockies from the Monfocks. If he gets the rams there goes that dream. It would be an interesting move if that happens.
Its a weird rule by the NFL because its not really a conflict of interest as these other sports don't factor against the NFL. He could also effectively transfer ownership to his Wife, son, or some other buffer and have some sort of say so behind the scenes. There is always ways around rules. Just ask any Politician.

I was waiting for Slap to post the first Georgia-bashing comment. Ha!
But you are right....that is another angle to all of this. Stan decides to not put more money into the Rams and then Georgia's kids move the team to LA via some sweetheart deal from the NFL. It's another piece of the triangular equation (LA/STL/Denver).

I heard he also had something to do with the Avs, but that might just be a rumor. ;D

Nah. He'd have to gove up that apartment at the Pepsi Center. What a great chick pad that would be........
What about Paul Allen? He owns both the Seahawks and the Portland Trailblazers.

Hm, I thought Lamar Hunt had a sports ownership stake not in KC...
Maybe I am mistaken.

Looked this up, it's true. Interesting.
I wonder if it has anything to do with Kroenke's ownership in the Arena league, which is a competitor (sort of... at the very least it's another football league) of the NFL?

I think that is OK because there is no NFL franchise in Portland. I hope someone weighs in who knows more about this stuff than me.

???
No clue bro. I just know that Allen owns both and that Microsoft is evil ;D

Hmmm
Well then he could move the Nuggets to St Loius! :clown:
But what he could do (and the NFL would love this) is move the Rams back to L.A.
The league would love to get those tv dollars from L.A.

Well if Kroneke wants to enter the NFL realm he can sell his shares of the crush. I am sure there would be buyers as its been pretty successful in the Denver Market.
Again in the world of business he can sell shares of his other sports teams to family members and business partners but retain enough of a share to remain a strong voice.
Also this is another one of those rules by the NFL that seems to me that could be fought in the court systems. Its not like he would have a monopoly in either league. So it doesn't violate federal law.
This boils down to me that the NFL has become almost like a dictatorship. They make these bylaws that are completely contradictory to governmental law.
I guess they feel that with the NFL becoming basically the National Pastime , at least in viewership that an owner with ties in multiple sports would compromise that foothold.
You would think the NFL would want an owner who has a track record of buying a team and doing what is necessary to make a winner and attracktable form of entertainemnt.

Yea, I'm sure that one NFL franchise is going to be more profitable than the 8 or whatever franchises he owns now. Think before you post, plz.

You and many here in OC/LA area would love to hear that confession. I am sure Steve Rosenbloom would love that also as he was axed by the beatch once she took over for her "murdered" husband.

I don't mean to interrupt the flow of conversation here, but did Kroenke really look to buy the Rockies?
With a guy like Kroenke at the helm for the Rocks, we might be able to retain Holiday, Tulo, and Atkins - which seems unlikely with the cheap ****s in charge of the Rockies now.

He has made numerous offers to the Monforts to purchase the team. The Monforts have denied him several times.
