Broncos getting ready to make some moves...

Back in early December, while the rest of the Broncos media was reporting playoff possibilities, The Orange Mane brought up the idea that Shanahan had his finger on the button, poised to blow things up if need be. Buckle up, because things are about to get interesting.

An Orange Mane source close to the Broncos tells us that there are zero sacred cows this off-season on the Broncos roster. Everyone is going to be asked to pitch in by restructuring and/or renegotiating their contracts in an effort to salvage the salary cap. Word has it that Shanahan will be making appeals to team loyalty, and weeding out the 'me' guys.

Meanwhile, in quarterback news, our sources tell us that the Broncos have been quietly seeking an audience with Mark Brunell, and might be interested should the Jaguars see fit to release him. Media consensus in Denver is that the Grbac to Denver rumors are fact, as Shanahan wanted Grbac here before Griese, but he'd only be given an opportunity to compete for the job (rather than just assume it) if Brunell were brought in. Beuerlein�s name is coming up less and less often, indicating that he might be making an exit, stage left.

And speaking of quarterbacks-- that traffic jam in front of Griese's little villa are reporters looking to see if there is a "for sale" sign up yet. Every major real estate operation is being checked into, as reporters scramble for the scoop. However, they're not finding it. While media consensus has Griese gone from the Broncos as a foregone conclusion, Bronco Media Relations have been adamant about the fact that no final decisions have been made about anything (except Rhodes).

The Griese situation is even stickier than you might think. What most fans don't know is that Griese is due a "sizable" workout bonus in March. Obviously, if he's got no future with the team, this is money that the Broncos won't want to pay. Unless, of course he does have a future with the team. Broncos fans should know sooner than June what the team's plans are when it comes to Griese. Stay tuned...
