View Full Version : Confidence barometer -- Week 12. The Bottom Line

Please state why or why not. Poll coming.

I voted no, but not because I'm a negative brooder. I just think Denver has dug too much of a hole at this point. It is certainly possible, but with the shuffling personnel and slow defensive evolution, it is highly unlikely.
Even without the playoffs though, this team has shown enough in flashes this season to make me very excited about the very near future. Hopefully they will continue to improve at a steady pace, if that happens this could actually turn out to have been a fruitful season. Even if it has been rough to watch sometimes.

No..Because of defense and ST..
Most importantly, we play soft once we have a lead...
11-29-2007, 11:56 PM
Yes cuz our division went from one of the best to one of the worst in no time!
11-30-2007, 12:00 AM
I said yes, because we have to make the playoffs to win the superbowl, and we're winning the superbowl this year.
11-30-2007, 12:13 AM
I said yes because the Bolts are bigger frauds than us. Seriously though, Cutler has improved tremendously and the defense and ST have gotten better too. We keep winning the turnover battle and we can get in. I don't see any real tough opponents left... except for SD.

Mecklenburg77and DC, I have to love your optimism, if not your realism.
11-30-2007, 12:43 AM
Brandon Marshall is gonna slap some of you bee-otches in here if you don't get your act together! Of course we are going to the playoffs!
I have been watching them play.... That is why I say this. Dude, they suck and can not beat a team with a .500 record and those are the teams that make the playoffs.
11-30-2007, 01:42 AM
We will not make the playoffs because we aren't consistent enough.
11-30-2007, 02:19 AM
No. We don't have a playoff caliber defense.
11-30-2007, 02:42 AM
No No No
Too many holes need filling.
Can't see us winning out which is what I think we will need to do.
11-30-2007, 04:25 AM
Most importantly, we play soft once we have a lead...
I think our Defense and Special team's are playing better now though since we cut alot of the guys that were not performing. But it just does not matter when your coachs do not have that killer instinct and are willing to destroy the opposing team.
11-30-2007, 10:08 AM
i said yes
this team plays best when their back are against the wall (see, Steelers game)...and the best is yet to come with Cutler and the offense I think
all you pessimists can go blow goats
11-30-2007, 11:07 AM
Yes and I totally agree with the last post.
I wouldn't be surprised if we don't make it, of course. But I can see us going on a streak here if the offense keeps it up.
11-30-2007, 11:21 AM
I am totally on the fence about whether we make the playoffs. Next year is looking very bright because the defense, special teams, and offense are improving. However, this year we are still so inconsistent.
i hope we make the playoffs but i am not confident enough to predict it.
11-30-2007, 11:23 AM
If we get in, it will be because we back in like the Chiefs did last year. Although, we would have a better chance than the Chiefs did in the actual playoffs.
First, I think this team has the potential to win out the rest of the season and enter the playoffs very strong (like the Steelers a couple years ago). I really believe they could, but they would have strength on offense instead of defense.
I think this team has already made me very excited about next year, regardless of what happens now (except for a major injury to Cutler, God forbid).
This team should finish strong against the Raiders and Chiefs, setting us up for a chance at the division. The Texans could beat us, the Chargers could beat us, and the Vikings could beat us (mainly from a turnover standpoint). If this team wins out, they will have accomplished something truly great. I will be hoping and cheering every snap. I just wouldn't bet my paycheck on it right now.
11-30-2007, 12:44 PM
No. Too much ground to make up.
This not our year. I will be happy if we continue to make improvements in areas other than Dline. I don't think we will improve D line with existing personnel. I know stats say we have become stouter run defense but i everytime I have seen us up with 7 men in the box, teams are successful running the ball.
11-30-2007, 12:50 PM
I said yes. I think this team is really close to pulling together. Minus the last 5 minutes last week, we put together a pretty solid showing on the road. The team starting to gel coupled with the chargers not really impressing me leads me to believe we can make it.
Plus, I just always hope the broncos can make the playoffs.

No way. The formula is easy. SD has very good talent, and very poor coaching. We have mostly middling talent and middling to very poor coaching (offense and defense and special teams.) Better talent wins out.
11-30-2007, 01:04 PM
My answer is yes, and the reason being I believe Bates will sell out and start the blitz package once again. He will do a better job with blitz packages and in turn force more 3 and outs, turnovers. Coyer and Bates both have fallen into the base vanilla trap, and it's time to escape that. If we go down, lets do it swinging.:redpunch:
It's time to go ROMO on people, spit and all._i_O_i_

I went with yes, but spent a lot of time looking for the maybe option. I think we are the best in the west, unfortunately that is kind of like being the smartest in your special ed class. Special teams are atrocious. Deffense is weak, though gaining ground. Play calling, game planning and clock management are the worst I have seen from the Broncos in twenty years. The only truely bright spot is that offense shows flashes of brilliance that will make the next ten years a very exciting time if we can get the other phases of the game improved and show some consistancy. Still I think that we can beat a badly regressing San Diego team, especially when you consider they have been Norved. In the end it isn't so much confidence in this years Broncos, as it is my confidence in the ineptitude of the rest of the west.
11-30-2007, 03:05 PM
I say yes. We are the DENVER BRONCOS.
11-30-2007, 05:36 PM
Eh. We've dug ourselves quite a hole, but we're getting better and better every week. We could be playing on an elite level come Week 17.
