After Mizzou's 41-31 loss to OU, this is what Missouri players had to say...
Jeremy Maclin: "We let one slip away the last time we played Oklahoma. This time we'll be ready."
Castine Bridges: "Ever since we lost, we came into the locker room and said that we need to see them again. Now it is happening. We get them again."
Chase Daniel: "After we watched the film, we saw how we gave the ballgame away in the 4th quarter. We were up 24-23, then self-destructed....we're ready."
OU's asst coaches are now doing a little talking of thier own. After hearing the same whining from the Mizzou players for a month, Coach Kevin Wilson said that he is tired of hearing how OU gave the Mizzou game away and that MU forgot OU drove 77 yards to put the game away. Brent Venables said he hopes OU "lucks out" like the last time they faced Mizzou.
Look for OU to stomp Mizzou in SA. I'll come back and eat a healthy dose of crow if they don't.

I have a feeling I won't be eating ANY...seriously, every single interview with a MU player has been qualified with the "we gave the game away" excuse. They forget that OU fumbled twice inside thier own territory and MU got 14 points off those TOs...Game could have easily been 41-17. It works for both sides.
OU travels well and when SA is a straight shot down I-35 for about a 6 hour drive, you can guarantee the crowd will be 65-60% OU and 40-35% MU.

Sooner, would you rather lose and have a big 12 representative in the national championship game, or win and let a fraudulent big 10 team in? Isn't it a lose, lose.

Man, I can't answer that unbiasedly! Maybe if it was anyone other than Texas or Missouri playing us. Other than that...no, I could care less about a Pac -10 or Big 11 team playing for the title. It would probably only help the cause for a playoff.
So, If you want a true championship in the future, you pull for OU.

What do you have against Missouri? They haven't won a conference title since 1969.
Oklahoma has 7 National Championships. This Big-12 Title Game is just another day at the office for you guys.

Kind of a weird logical step. He keeps hearing this from people and he comes away from it thinking....OU is going to win!
Why is it you think they are going to win?
SA is closer but it won't be Norman. I also think it will be a great chance to introduce you to Tony Temple.
And maybe...just maybe there is a reason you hear all these people talk about the game in that way. I will give you a hint, it isn't because everyone woke up and decided they love the Missouri Tigers.

Are you not reading these? Missouri says they gave the game away. By all accounts and purposes, they are saying they played good enough to win.
I tell you what I do know...
If Missouri blitzes us like they did KU, it will be single coverage on Malcom Kelly and Juaquin Iglesias all night long. Not to mention the miss match we have with Jermaine Gresham on whatever LB MU puts on him.
On defense, Auston English, Big XII sack leader is likely to return. He had two of them against MU last time. It's obvious that the athletes that we have on the defensive side of the ball are good enough to keep the talented group of offensive weapons that MU has in check.
Oh, and our QB, has 32 TDs to 7 picks in 12 games and leads the nation in passing efficiency...
I like our chances...

Hey, you may pull it off. But i do know when a team turns the ball over more than their opponent their chances of winning are very slim. They feel like they gave the game away now its up to them to come back and prove otherwise. If OU wins then they have nothing more to say. Now is the time for them to prove themselves.

They are in the top 10 because nobody can hold onto the top 2 spots. Its only natural that teams move up after top 2 losses. Havent you been paying attention this year? After Mizzou goes down it will be like the 8th team to drop from the top 2 spots this year. Maybe more i havent even counted them.

So you don't think its fair for a team to lose and drop? Mizzu did what they should have and thats win the games they had to play. Too all honest I wish the B12 would do away with the championship game. It seems to hurt them more often then not.

No. Thats my point. This year has been the most chaotic in terms of teams losing their top positions. Most years teams like OSU would not have a shot to get back to the title game the way they did. The fact THEY dont have to play a conference championship game helped them (if they would have lost). Honestly, Kansas and Missouri didnt really belong in the top 2 spots but because the LSU's and everyone else kept losing and dropping it allowed those teams to move up. But any normal year that doesnt happen on that kind of scale. Your right about the CCG it hurting all the other teams though. If Mizzou didnt have to play OU tonight and WVU didnt have to play Pitt both of them would be playing for a NC right now. Instead, they go out and get beat and allow OSU to sneak back in after not playing a CCG and having a weak schedule.

The point is LSU and everyone else did lose and KU and MU didn't and thats why they made it to the top two. KU may not have played hard teams but hell either did OSU. MU beat the one team that beat OSU. You really can't say well they lost so thats how one team jumped them because if they had taken care of business they wouldn't have jumped them. Now you can say all you want about who beat who but tell there is a playoff system we have to go by the polls and you said its a popular vote and thats how they decide things but in KU's and MU's case I just don't see it because they are not a national power. I really think they earned their rankings by winning when other teams didn't.

I think that Illinois beat themselves in that game, but it's a loss either way. Illinois starting QB went down, had 5 turnovers and gave up one 100 yard fumble return for a touchdown. Also, they threw an interception on Missouri's one yard line as time expired. If they played again, I think Missouris would lose by a couple of TD's. But it hardly matters now.

Ah for some reason I thought Ds could cause turnovers and all that jazz. The first meeting in the OU/MU game MU had 3 ints and a fumble returned against them for a TD as well. OU started 2 drives inside MU's 30 yard line I guess you could say they beat themselves there as well. We see how well the rematch went for them though.

I think you and i are argueing different points. Kansas and Mizzou did belong in the top 25. They did deserve to move up when LSU and company lost and dropped. But, i believe that the ranking system should not start until close to mid-season. These rankings start before the year even gets underway and gives a false impression of who belongs where. Michigan was never a top 25 let alone a top 10 team this year but yet were ranked as such. At least with a mid-season ranking system you allow ALL teams a chance to position themselves up the top 25 based on Quality wins and strength of schedule. If OSU had to work their way up the ladder they probably wouldnt have broken into the top 10 based upon their particular schedule. And i think that is a far more fair way to deal with rankings in general.

Could be anything. Coaching? On-field matchups? At the end of the day Missouri only lost 2 games and it was to the same team. OU lost to 6-6 Colorado and 8-4 Texas Tech. But OU's schedule was one of the worst in their conference as their opponents had a 70-81 win/loss ratio.

Not sure what it was but I feel bad for Missouri. I really wanted them to win the NC game this year. I would have rather seen KU in it but thats because I have no ill feelings for that team at all. Yea, i agree. If the BCS allows OSU to go in because of only one loss than KU should get the nod going by that definition. But, i have no idea what they will do. I got a feeling it wont make a lot of people happy in the end.

I didn't watch the game I just looked at the statistics, yes clearly D's can cause turnovers, but losing your starting QB before halftime surely hurts. I would have been more convinced of the strength of Missouri if they would have won by 20-25, but they only won by a few points. Hell Illinois even had more yards than Missouri, sometimes the game is about taking advantage of opportunities and Missouri did on that day. Like I said before, it doesn't really matter anyways.

People are going to be upset either way. That's why we need a playoff.
