If Goodell slams his iron fist down on Travis Henry and suspends him for a year, what does Shanahan do? He has already given public support to his FA prize...but it seems financially illogical to keep him if he isn't going to play. Could he stay and give back a portion of his bonus? I know it's easy to say, just cut him...but if Shanahan truly believes he is innocent would Goodell's decision have an impact on whether or not Shanahan welcomes him back in a year?

Plus, I am sure you could get him back in a year for 1/4 the price if they really want him.

If Goodell kicks him out it's a horse **** ruling. I think they should continue to keep on the roster until he reutrns and then let him play.

I'm sure Shanahan can make a business decision regarding Henry. He might go to bat for him on a personal level, defend his "integrity" whatever, but when it comes to what is best for the team, I think Shanny would not hesitate to cut him loose and excercise the caveat in Henry's contract.

If he is suspended, I'm sure they'll invoke the clauses in the contract they built in for this, so they can re-claim cap space, but privately, they might tell him that they'll work with him next year on an incentive-laden contract update.

If in fact all that we have heard is true its a bum rap for Henry as he had essentially what could be two puffs of a joint in his system. Coupled with clean tests before and after it sounds like a fluke.

But I find myself not having very much sympathy for the guy based on his past. I would hate to be Bowlen and Shanny if/when this ruling happens.

I cannot stress this enough, the pot piss test does NOT actually detect THC in your system. It's a protein that binds to THC.

do you really not think its a locker room divider?

personally, i think it was a bad signing from the get go, and i think it shows some desperation on shannys part.
sure, i (like everyone else) liked the signing when it was announced, but then again, i had no idea of the baggage this guy brings.

do you think guys like rod, lynch, or cutler want this guy around?

...and if not, then dont you think its a potential source of conflict?

i think it was walking a tightrope signing him, and while he may have a case in this situation, he never shouldve GOTTEN himself in this situation. just my .02.

Shanny setup the "out clause " in the contract. So if he's banned, the Broncos are clear to get their cash back and cut the guy.

Even without the drug test, the guy has been a bust.

I don't know if the bust label is fair...he was the league's leading rusher prior to injuries to both himself and his offensive line. He wasn't getting into the endzone, but that was on the entire offense/coaching staff not just TH. The only way I would regret the signing is if he was a bad locker room guy...which I don't really know...
