"CAIRO, November 15 (Compass Direct News) – Sick of hiding in a secret apartment in Cairo, Mohammed Ahmed Hegazy risked his life to shop for groceries late one night last week, a cap pulled low over his face.
The Egyptian convert from Islam to Christianity does not normally chance being recognized in public by running errands for himself. Death threats forced Hegazy into hiding in August after he made an unprecedented legal bid to have his national ID card changed to note his conversion."
try to change your "national ID card" to the wrong religion and you too can lose your job, your life, go into hiding and be afraid to appear in public. such is the wonders of trying to leave the religion of peace.

This is actually very true. Christians are routinely persecuted in Egypt in particular. I would know....several of my relatives who live there are subjected to it quite often in a variety of ways. Churches as well (Coptic Orthodox Churches) are routinely vandalized and sometimes burned. Alot of people sometimes think Egypt is a "moderate" Islamic state. That's a bunch of crap.

As long as Egypt keeps their tail between legs and does what we tell them I don't care what they do to Christians in their own country. Egypt gets away with it because unlike Iran and Syria they comply with our wishes regarding most issues in N.Africa and the war on islamic terrorists. Iran and Syria really the only 2 countries standing up to the USA. In the end countries like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Dubia, Kuwait, Lybia, Jordan reap more benifits by compying with USA then Iran, Syria will by standing up to the USA. Iraq found out what happend when you do that. Despite what anyone thinks we destroyed there entire army, killed most of the leaders, and took over the whole country.
As far as wars go it was a rout.

Except that you only need a very small percentage of the Muslim world to be extremists to gun up the whole world. I don't think KKK is even a viable force anymore so it's not a good comparison.

they don't comply w/ our wishes in the slightest. we bribed them to make peace w/ israel, and occasionally try to be friendly because we're scared of the muslim brotherhood. but egypt hardly "listens" to us in any significant manner.

Yavoon what Egypt does is recognize israel and not complain too much when we bomb other Muslims. I agree though they aren't friends in the slightest. Just like the Saudis aren't our friends. Saudis do however pretty much stay out of the military operations in the gulf and let us keep an airbase there. Usa doesnt ask for much just that you shut up and sell oil or stay out of it when we have to flex out muscle. Countries like Iran/Syria and before them Iraq have grand ambitions to dominate the region. Countires like Saudi Arabia/Oman/UAE/Kuwait/Jordan/Ethiopa/Egypt/Lybia seem to me like they are resigned to the fact its better to be out af Americas crosshairs and instead comply with just enough to get left alone.
Iraq wanted to dominate the region and they got smacked down for it.
Lybia was thinking about nukes thought better and got left alone.
Iran and to some extent Syria seem to be craving the vacume left and want to fill it with there influence. If they push it to far they could be next.
