View Full Version : Lynch: ‘Real Encouraged’

Thursday’s practice was to be the test of whether John Lynch had recovered from the neck stinger he incurred Oct. 29 against the Green Bay Packers, and from all indications, the 15-year veteran passed.

“It went well,” Lynch said as he walked off the practice field following the two-and-a-quarter-hour session Thursday afternoon. “We had some spirited contact out there and it felt good. I think all things are looking real good.

“I’m real encouraged.”

Lynch, who fully participated in practice for a second consecutive day, said that the numbness and tingling were gone, and that all strength in his arm was back.

“It was gradual. Things started getting better,” he said. “It was something that happens to guys. Brian Dawkins went through it and missed five games. You can’t come back until you feel right and I’m feeling good.”

Perhaps most importantly, Lynch does not feel as if he needs to give the injury a second thought when game time arrives — a comfort that was primarily a result of his Thursday work, which saw the Broncos don their shoulder pads for the first time this week.

“You can’t play with reservations,” Lynch said. “I know from experience in this league that a recipe for getting hurt is if you’re out there going with any second thoughts. That’s why it was important to go out there today and let it go. I was able to do that and it felt good.”

ALSO OF NOTE …

Running back Travis Henry was in uniform, but saw limited participation … Fullback Paul Smith (calf) and wide receiver Javon Walker both sat out practice; Smith was in uniform while Walker was in sweats. Walker ran routes during the warmup period as he continues his recovery from Oct. 19 knee surgery … Kicker Jason Elam (calf), defensive end John Engelberger (shoulder) and tight end Tony Scheffler (chest) all went through the full gamut of practice repetitions … Defensive tackle Sam Adams returned to the field … In Tennessee, defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has yet to practice this week due to a hamstring injury.

He said on his TV show on Monday that he hadn't felt the numbness for two days. We'll need his ability at the line big time in this game. The Titans are the kind of hard-nosed, physical team that usually bullies into submission by the third quarter. We'll need to match their intensity.

Heres and idea. How bout we keep the same safety duo as last week and put Lynch at Weak side LB! Sideline Gold! ehhh? Would it not be an upgrade? Interesting question to ponder hah

I'm half joking, but I bet a few of you will pause for a sec and consider it.

Now that's just silly; Lynch would be much more suited to giving Sam Adams a breather on the line.

I prefer to see Selvin Young start over Henry this week.

Count me in on Selvin. Who needs an Injured Henry when Selvin is hot right now? And, I don't know that "power running" will be our best tool against the Titans. I like Selvin's cutback ability in this contest.

glad to hear this good news...hopefully john keeps progressing. I'm glad they have been so patient bringing him back.

i like the speed that Foxworth brings but he needs to play nickle exclusively this game. With Tennessee being a team that likes to hit their opponents we need stronger big hitters in the lineup meaning i expect more Lynch and Ferguson than Foxworth and Abdullah

Glad for Lynch...but Walker is still out this week. :(

Not to mention the lack of real passing threat. Pack Lynch in the box, wait on the run and challenge Vince to burn Champ and Bly. Vince is no Favre.
