View Full Version : How Big is this week's game?!?

Maybe i'm just excited because i'lll be bringing my family up for MNF this week, but WOW, what a big game for us. I went to MNF 2 years ago against KC at Invesco and that was the loudest I have ever heard an outdoor event (I never was able to make it to the old Mile High). But, that night was absolutely deafening and I was hoarse for days.

How big is this week for our young team? I know this will still be an up and down year, but some momentum from MNF could lead us into Chicago, Oakland, KC again, then Houston. I know I am an optimist, but Cutler coming along, + the young O-line, + Selvin could really heat things up. Especially if we have actually found a serviceable defense.

I am so freakin pumped.

If we can keep the swarming D-line of the Titans off of Cutler and pull this one off, I actually think we will be back in the running for a wildcard spot.

This could definitely give us momentum, especially against a scrambling QB. Thats the one thing that scares me. The rest of the schedule is less than intimidating, so if we get this win, who knows what could happen. Do we just let DJ shadow Young all game? Thats an assignment he can't blow. Just follow him around all game.

Hopefully Haynesworth will be out.

It was mentioned in an article...but I was thinking before I read the article that this meeting that the players had was very similiar to the one they had after devasting losses in '97. With any luck, maybe it will turn the team around.

Wildcard??? ...we're one win out of the running for the AFC west title!

I doubt we get back in the runnig for a wild card. If we're going to the playoffs it's through the division title. Which, by the way, looks to be totally within reach. I don't know how a team as pedestrian and lackluster pounded us so badly at home.

However, we have our fate in our own hands and SD is playing a first place schedule and looks like s***. If we keep running the ball and stopoping the run like we have been I see an AFC West title in 2007.

We may not have a ton of success once we're in the playoffs, but let's take one game at a time.

Should be an exciting matchup.

IMO - this game is big, but it's not THAT big. What do I mean? It's big because it's a home, conference game against a playoff contender....but it's not as big nor as important as the division games remaining on the schedule. They win those, they get in the playoffs, plain and simple....regardless of what happens this week.

Agree that the Dline cannot let VY run, and that fat running back. Defense needs to continue to step it up and start Selvin, f henry

I'll let the players take care of that.

It's clearly more fun for fans to look ahead.

The team needs to forget about the scenarios about wild card and who needs to win what............just win

We also have to force Vince Young to be a QB, not a RB.

Hes a great RB, but a god-awful QB.

Champ and Dre will have big games against him and his lack of football intelligence(no offense to the VY fans, buts hes extremely overrated and its being proven this season, Michael Vick pt.2, without the off the field transgressions.).

Hard to be overrated after just two seasons. Not too mention there really is no star power on Tennesse as it is.

Maybe he can give Young another pop like last year.

I watched for him during the game, hes quick to the player, covers well.

Yeah...but, my only complaint....make the INT when it's thrown your way! HOLD THE BALL!!!!! Other than that...he's always on the play!

I disagree, every game is huge at this point. The only shot this team has at the playoffs is the division title, and with SD winning against Indy, they currently hold the head to head tie-breaker and still have several division games to play as well.

Sure this game, like every game, is big (like I said). But let me put it this way. If you are forced to lose a game, it would be "less harmful" to lose this game than to lose their next games against SD or KC. By definition, that means those division games are more important. That is all I am saying.

okay, this isn't the biggest game, but I'd sya there are no more acceptable losses if this team expects to do anything this season

Every November, the Broncos lose a home game they had no business losing. When the schedules came out, I presumed this would be that game but, after the Packers loss, maybe they've already had that game this year and will come up with a better effort.

Notice that when our defense shows up and creates turnovers, we win. When they don't, we lose. Funny how football works like that.

Depends on how you define acceptable. Do you really think this is an 11-5 team? If you do, then clearly you believe that any more losses are unacceptable.

I believe that this is an "8-8 quality" team that could become a 9-7 team by the end of the season if the bounces go their way (and 9-7 could be enough to take this creampuff division if the wins come against the right opponents). That means two more losses somewhere down the road. Based purely off the records, Tennessee is the strongest opponent remaining on the schedule. Therefore, if one of their two losses comes against them, I'm not overly surprised or likely to become suicidal.

Would I prefer an 11-5 record? Sure. But I'm assuming they are not going to run the table, and therefore have to accept that there will be a loss or two down the road. I'd prefer they come against the NFC opponents, from a purely tiebreaker perspective. But if they are to come from the AFC, let it be a good team that plays outside the division.

They tend to play one game hard and take the next one off, we saw the effort they showed in KC... better get that Gold appreciation thread down a few pages before next week's game hits.

I'm worried about that, as well. However, there's NO excuse to be pumped up for MNF. The players don't have to worry about the idiot announcers...

You have to treat it like it is just another game. One of sixteen, anyone can beat anyone on any given Sunday. One game at a time.

We hopefully we can get the refs that worked last nights game in SD, we might get some breaks and hopefully Marshall won't get called with a "holding" penalty that decides the game.
