I've no idea whether it was because of injuries or performance but Nick was replaced in today's starting line-up by Hamza and what a game he had with 8 tackles, 1 forced fumble and a tip for Paymah's pick.
The most important thing however was that we won and kept Gonzalez quiet and didn't concede anything deep over the middle all day.
Should Hamza stay in for now??? I think he should.

That was a horrible attempt at an INT hit him right in the hands, denver was lucky Paymah made the play on that..

I dont remember what down that came on, but that led to the safety, so i dont know how lucky we are that Paymah actually made that play. Whatever, we won.

i thought Hamza and Fergy were at safety.
Fergy was benched? did Foxworth take his spot on some plays?

Hamza and Foxworth started. I have never been a big Fergy fan, but I was impressed today when he was the first to grab and congratulate Shanahan as the game ended.

Hamza always goes at 110 percent, but I don't think he played a real good game.

Yeah! I loved it. Even though he was benched he was really happy to get the win.

I liked what I saw out of Abdullah though. I say keep him in there!!

I think Ferguson is a fantastic guy who just can't compensate for his lack of physical talent anymore.

I think we need to shape up at safty. I'm leaning towards Hamza and Lynch.

Fergie is a 100% team guy.
Ferguson has always had a problem diagnosing and reacting to the pass. The fact that Abdullah was around the ball more on pass plays is a sign of hope that he'll provide an improvement in this area. Going forward, it will be interesting to see how he does against teams that are a little better at passing.
Foxy made some plays today. He's been jaw'n to get in there and play corner, but maybe he's a safety.
He could have had a int, but dropped it.
Still I think he may have younger legs than Fergy does and the Broncos secondary needs a faster playmaker back there.
So I say leave him back there.

I do like Fergy, but whatever helps us play better. Foxy had some good tackles today

I thought Abdullah had a pretty solid game. He seemed to be around the ball alot, making more plays than not. I think he'll only get better with playing time, so lets see what he can do . I think Ferguson makes a good experienced back up at this point in his career.

I think having Hamza in there the last two weeks has made us a better defense. He's very physical, and has a ton more range than Nick. I think Hamza and Lynch (if he can get healthy) would be a great combo.

Hamza needs to work on his tackling, and he'll be good.
Ferguson has been a coverage liability for a while, but this year his range has gotten worse, making him a less effective run stopper and making him an even bigger problem on coverage.
There's no reason we should play him again. Maybe its lingering lost speed from the knee problem last year, whatever, he simply doesn't have it at this point. If he can condition back some of the speed this next off-season great, let him battle it out, but he just hurts us on the field right now and nothing is going ot change that for this season.

I'm good with the younger and more athletic duo of Foxworth and Abdullah to spell Fergy.

I am a big fan of the Hamza/Foxworth team. Both guys can cover and both are not affraid of contact.

Man, I wish Moss was out there getting experience.
Anyway, nice to see the D gel a bit today. I wish we could figure out how we can play like this one week, and play like we did against Detroit another.

If Foxworth is going to continue to play S, Id like to see him put on a few pounds. It might cost him some speed, but not enough to hurt him in that position.
Hamza needs to tackle a bit better. There was one play where he would have had Priest in the backfield, but all he did was dive at him. However I thought he had a pretty good game, and I like the speed we have back there now.
Ive always thought Fergy was average to good as a player, but he is a hell of a guy and I would want him on my team.

Im torn on this one cause I remember last year how Fergy was playing lights out prior to his injury.. I just think that if are D line was little better and he did not always have to worry about comming up to support the run then he might actually do better in Coverage..
But hey I like the guy so I could be biased here, who ever is the best man for the job then im all for it.

It is called addition by reduction. We got rid of the "Hot 97" negative influence.

Tackling.
In the previous few weeks the D was missing tackles, Gold and Webster in particular which extended running plays, opened up the play action passing game as well.
I think yesterday was the best tackling job we've seen all season and we didn't shut down the run but contained it. In the previous weeks we kept having to pump in Lynch/Fergy etc at the line of scrimmage when we were leaking rushing yards which opened up the big passing plays.
They need to keep this up.
