View Full Version : Do we have any Pro-Bowlers on this Team?

I was listening to the radio last night when I heard the Roethlisberger "vote for me" Pro-Bowl commercial and I started wondering to myself: Do we have a single player worthy of the Pro Bowl this year?

Champ is probably a lock just on reputation, and I'm certainly not qualified to argue the case one way or another (I don't break down game film or anything like that). Perhaps he deserves it this year, perhaps not, but is there anyone else?

Champ will probably go, he is deserving, that's about it. maybe Lepsis.

Nobody in my opinion based off this season.

Champ is on the fringe...but will probably make it based off reputation.

Sauerbraun is probably the next closest, but even he has 2 or 3 guys ahead of him in the AFC that should keep him out.

Champ and possibly Sauerbrun from what i've seen... still think they are trailing others in the AFC.

You're joking, right? This season?

He is 28th in the league in fg percentage.

Rob Bironas of Tennessee is a shoe-in right now for the AFC.

Make the probowl on reputation? Pretty much a bunch of crap. But, that is the system. Should any of them make it this year? I'd say we don't have anyone this year to be honest. Pretty bad year for the broncos, don't see any of them getting there. that about fits considering the year they are having..dman

nobody on this team deserves to make the pro bowl yet.

Brandon Marshall is on pace for 1,218 yards in receiving, but there's no way he's going to break into the Randy Moss, Braylon Edwards, Reggie Wayne group. The 4th spot is still up for grabs, but I think Wes Welker and Chad Johnson have too much name recognition for Marshall to catch them. Marshall is a Pro Bowl candidate, but he's just more likely to be the third alternate. He is among the top six-to-seven wide recievers in the AFC this season. Nobody can deny that.

I also forgot about T.J. Houshmandzadeh who has the inside track on Welker and Ocho Cinco. Marshall's best chance is to be the third Pro Bowl alternate.

Are you serious? On drugs?

Marshall is currently 8th in the AFC in yards and 16th in TDs.

Top 6 or 7? What are you looking at?

Dumervil should be on the ballot.

They have John Freaking Engleberg

Marshall is having a Pro Bowl caliber season. You can make a five minute video of his highlight reel, breaktaking plays.

There you go, he's the seventh best WR in the AFC this season. Find me someone who is more deserving of the seventh spot and you will have a hard time proving their case.

1. Moss
2. Edwards
3. Wayne
4. Houshmandzadeh
5. Welker
6. Johnson
7. Marshall

Jerricho Cotchery and Santonio Holmes have a case for the seventh spot, but neither one is a slam dunk case. At worst, Marshall has been the ninth best WR in the AFC this season. He's only in his second year. Holmes is the only other WR with that distinction on this list. Instead of being doom and gloom about everything Broncos, why can't you acknowledge that Marshall is enjoying a good year?

Doom and gloom? You were the one making the statement that it was "impossible to deny" that he was the 6th or 7th best WR in the AFC. You can't make a statement like that and NOT expect some good natured debate.

I love the Broncos, and fully admit that Marshall is having a great year. But to declare that they have any "slam dunk" pro-bowl guys on the roster, or that Marshall is one of the best WRs in the AFC RIGHT NOW (not potentially) is too homerish for my tastes.

Look at the numbers for Marshall, Cotchery, Holmes and Laveranues Coles (in no particular order) and what they would translate to over a 16 game season:

I'll be curious to see where people rank Marshall's numbers, if they don't know which he is below (I have him either 3rd or 4th on the list).

102 receptions for 1364 yards and 2 TDs
90 receptions for 1218 yards and 4 TDs
84 receptions for 946 yards and 12 TDs
69 receptions for 1225 yards and 14 TDs

***And, lastly, the Pro-Bowl doesn't give credit for being in your 2nd year. In fact, it almost always punishes those guys because they don't have the name recognition yet.

I corrected myself after I realized I missed TJ Houshmandzadeh. After that correction, I would have put Marshall as the #7-8 best AFC WR.

Marshall had a good first half and has put himself in a good position to make a run at a "Pro Bowl alternate" spot. I never said he was a "slam dunk Pro Bowl" guy.

Marshall is right there with all those guys. He just needs to come down with a few more TD grabs. Since when has a 90 reception, 1218 yard pace not been a Pro Bowl caliber year? The Holmes pace is misleading because he missed a game and will likely not end the season with those numbers. Coles isn't going to Honolulu if he doesn't surpass 1,000 yard barrier. Cotchery needs more TDs like Marshall. Coles and Cotchery will likely cancel each other out on votes. I still think the third Pro Bowl alternate is a realistic shot for Marshall.

champ makes it on reputation.

What???

The guy was all-pro, all-world defender. He gives up one TD and now he is no longer a pro bowler.

QB's aren't throwing it his way and avoid him like the plague. He is 3rd on the team in total tackles.

Teams learn how to take Champ out of the game. Just simply don't go his way. Yet he still gets his int and tackles.

When 7 or 8 guys in the same conference are putting up better numbers.

Coles isn't going to Honolulu if he doesn't surpass 1,000 yard barrier.

If he puts up 12 or more TDs like he is on pace to do, he'd certainly get the nod over Marshall. He has the name recognition, plays on the east coast, and has had to put up those numbers with absolute scrubs throwing him the ball. Marshall has none of that going for him.....and there's no way an extra 100 or 200 yards receiving trumps 10 fewer TDs.

Coles and Cotchery will likely cancel each other out on votes.

I don't even know how anyone could predict this.

Exactly! WTF is all this stuff about him not deserving it? The guy is trying to play for the other 10 defenders, so he's bound to have a slip here or there, but can anyone name a better CB? Or one that it's playing better than him? He has given up ONE TD. Jeez, he has certainly set the bar very high.

no one should be going to the probowl from our team as of now.
