View Full Version : 950 the fan source says Cutler...

They have stated several times that an " inside source" is telling the guys at sports radio 950 "the fan" that Cutler is done for the season.

Not sure who the source is, or how reliable, just posting what I heard. I'll keep listening, and update.

<!-- end page tools --><!-- begin story body --><!-- template inline -->DETROIT -- Denver Broncos (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=den) quarterback Jay Cutler (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7760) injured his lower left leg early in the second quarter Sunday against the Detroit Lions (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=det) and did not return.

Cutler left the game when his legs and ankles were twisted as Shaun Rogers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5508) sacked him, then another Lions player hit him as he was going down.
"I got hit with a helmet on the outside of my leg," he said. "I'll get an MRI. I'm hoping it's not broken, but it could be a hairline. "Hopefully, it's just a bruise."

Cutler was helped off the field and was later taken off it on a cart as he unstrapped his shoulder pads. He was 3-for-4 for 20 yards.

Patrick Ramsey (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5918) replaced him, then completed his first pass of the season to give the Broncos a first down.

Ramsey completed 29 of 46 passes for 262 yards with a touchdown pass in the final minutes, an interception and one fumble that was returned for a score.

Running back Travis Henry (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5505) did not play in the fourth quarter after hurting his left knee, but said he felt fine after the game. Henry was held to 31 yards rushing on nine carries.

And they let Marshall get hit with helmet to helmet hits all day that would have put John Lunch in the poor house. It's a joke.

A hairline fracture might not show up in an xray, but will in an MRI. And you can walk around on it. Jack Youngblood got one in the first half of the 1980 SB vs. the Steelers, had them tape it up real good, and played the second half. Of course, there's always the chance it could do a Theismann at any moment.

HOF defensive end Jack Youngblood broke his leg in the first half of the Divisional Playoffs against Dallas. He finished that game, while going head up against All Pro Cowboy OT Rayfield Wright. Youngblood then played in the NFC Championship Game against Tampa Bay and in the Super Bowl against Pittsburgh. He also started 201 consecutive regular season games and typically finished most seasons worn down to less than 240 pounds.

I don't want Cutler to play again this year with the state this team is in. I think we should totally clean house and start over, get rid of everybody, Shanahan, front office, even champ bailey (let him play somewhere he has a chance to win, keeping him here is a waste of his time, poor guy). Trade champ, trade bly, trade whoever you can get something for that has more than 7 years in the league. It'd be nice to get a coach that gets excited about football.

Not the most comforting thing to add but earlier this year Deuce McCallister had his knee hit and then went into the locker room and emerged later to stand around on the sidelines. It made you think everything would be alright than the next day it turned out he tore his acl or something and is out for the season.

Matt Ryan is five times the QB that Beck is. Besides, Beck has had months to take the starting job from Lemon and hasn't been able to rise to the occasion. I know if I was running that franchise, I'd take Ryan in a heartbeat and trade Beck.

Yeah it's not often you see a quarterback walking on the sidelines right after he was injured, and with his own power, walk himself to the cart and be driven off, then walk right back onto the field with NOTHING around his leg area then be done for the season.

Would I give up Champ? No, but still Shanny has made bad moves that equal his good moves.

He over paid players like Dale Carter, Brian Griese that put the franchise in cap trouble. He flled both lines with cheap bargin bin FA's and low draft picks. @ strongside backer he went cheap and signed two street free agents, and passed up drafting a young linebacker.

Now the team is paying for it.

So what will he do this off-season? He will over spend on both lines trying to fix his mess.

New England swooped in and got them all [Welker, Moss, Stallworth] for the remarkably manageable 2007 cap total of $8.4 million. Imagine getting an all-star receiving corps for eight percent of your overall cap. That's what VP of player personnel Scott Pioli and coach Bill Belichick did, and in the fourth quarter of the biggest game this year, those three players beat the defending Super Bowl champs.

Actually, a half dozen coaches and true GMs could have made the moves Shanny did, and probably better. Also, they likely would not have pissed away 6 years of team-building opportunties with lousy drafts and awful FA acquisitions. (Rice, Adams, Graham, Bly, Henry anyone?) But we all know that Shanny is among the worst in the league with personnel. The killer now is that he's lost his team, surrounded himself with lousy coaches, and can no longer game plan his way out of a paper bag. He has no fire or ingenuity any more -- just look in his eyes during sideline shots. Shanny has turned into Dan Reeves. The team needs to move on, and find the new Shanny.

1:36 P.M. MST: The MRI on Jay Cutler’s leg was negative, revealing no stress fracture of the fibula. Shanahan said that he is “a little sore,” and that he would see what the quarterback can do at Wednesday’s practice. “Right now he’s quite sore, and we’ll see how he feels on Wednesday.”
1:37 P.M. MST: When asked whether this was a best-case scenario considering that Cutler left on a cart Sunday, Shanahan said, “Yeah, no question about it,” but acknowledged that Cutler’s leg is badly bruised. 1:37 P.M. MST: “Everybody — I don’t know!” Shanahan said, smiling, as the questions on Cutler’s potential status for next week continued to fly.

I call bull**** on this. Denver's official replies have been nothing more than a contusion all along.

...and thankfully thats all it is.

more often than not "insider source" means someone with NO knowledge guessing.
fortunately they were wrong.

Wow! Do you actually remember all that stuff, or do you have it written down? My memory seems to have compressed it into one game.

My memory of sports trivia is pretty strong, but I remember this so vividly because I idolized Jack Youngblood when I was growing up.

No coach....not even Bill Belicheck is immune from such things. Just look at the Pats draft from earlier this year and tell me how many of those jokers even made their roster.

The MRI is negative. That doesn't mean he's going to play, but it doesn't mean his season is over. They said "he's pretty sore" and that they have to wait and see on it.

LMAO.... everyone's "Inside" sources are nothing but a bunch of wind. If Lammy was the assclown saying Cutler was gone for the year.... he should be banned for 2 weeks.

Stop spreading rumors just to hear your name on the airwaves.

Great news! Now Cutler can destroy that weak Chiefs D this Sunday. Did you see Brett Favre light them up! Well guess who Cutler reminds everyone of? I CAN'T WAIT TO BEAT KC!

So in your opinion a player selected in the first round and playing "complete ass" here wasn't a bust? hmmm...

For every Clinton Portis there has been a Maurice Clarett type selection. For every Javon trade there has been an Ashley Lelie selection.

Lelie played well when he was here...
