Hey, I'm trying to find proof that Bailey only gave up 4 catches in 2006. Is there an reliable article that shows this fact.

You wouldn't happen to have insider access, and can post the thing, do you?

yo post it please, I am a high schooler who does not contain a credit card and who has a father who will not subscribe to ESPN saying it is trash and "there is no point in listening to them because they dont affect the game" they just make money off talking about sports and trying to make predictions that they will never know if they will turn out true or not till after the game so WATS THE POINT.
While I am different and rly want to read this article, I live next to arrogant Eagles, Giants and Jets fans who dont beleive how dominant Champ was last year. They never beleive the 4 catch thing and they usually never even beleive the TD thing. So I would like to print this out and whip it out to those arrogant Eagle fans and shove it in their face(As gay as it may sound printing it out Im pissed off how everyone thinks Champ is overated) SO PLZ! By the way I have a life but this just pisses me off lol

Here this will have to do:

Adam, Kitchener, Ontario: I just read an artical that claimed Champ Bailey had only 4 passes completed against him all last year! This cant be right can it?
SportsNation KC Joyner: Adam, I heard that same thing and have no idea how in the world anyone could come up with that metric. I had Bailey with 65 passes thrown at him and 28 of them being successful. His YPA was phenomenal and his success percentage superb but four completions is simply not an accurate assessment.

The only thing I can suggest is the Elias sports bureau. They are the ones who complile all the stats for the NFL. They have some crazy stats too.

65 passes against him.
10 Picked off.
11 Defensed
So 44 passes were caught or incomplete. 4 was retardedly low, but 28 is retardedly too high. There were 4 straight games where opponents didnt complete a pass on Champ's side of the field. I would wager that the number is probably around 12-18 or so passes caught aginst Champ and 100% of them were underneath routes. Champ did not get a pass completed against him deep all year last year.

Remember the first TD that Gates scored against you guys in our second game last year? Bailey almost snatched the ball but Gates knocked him aside when he went up. Does anybody know if the defense was in cover 3? Or was it man?

If I remember right Bailey jumped that route. I'm not sure who he was covering or who was on Gates but Bailey broke off his man for that play.

Bailey wasn't covering Gates in that play. He recognized where the ball was going to be, and broke from his assignment to try to intercept the pass.

It will be tough to find proof for something that didnt happen.
Champ allowed much more than 4 passes against last year. KC Joyners 28 passes against is the closest and most reliable number Ive found. Just keep in mind that pretty much all of those 28 were for short gains.

Keeping track of CB's stats is difficult when you consider if they were in man or zone coverage, did the CB come off his man, etc... Is there any source that is keeping track of all the specifics (beyond Tackles, INTs, etc...) of Champ's stats this year?

I remember when they reported that stat. They stated that Baile was thrown at 36 times and only 4 were completions. It was on ESPN a while ago during a debate arguing that Bailey should of been DPOY.

Those numbers came from the team's internal review of film and can not be substantiated any further. They came out in the discussion between the staff and announcers the week before they covered the Broncos game.
The reason those numbers are so low, is they take into effect the scheme design to allow short underneath passes in their Cover 3 zone. They did NOT include the short hitch and quick outs that basically the scheme allows with the CB's 7 yards off as they can not actually cover those passes, just step up and make the tackle.
Personally, that is a very self serving definition of "coverage" that is supposed to make Champ seem more invincible than he is. We all saw what CAN happen when the rest of the defense leaves him exposed all game long against a good QB.
Champ is still the best CB in the league, had the greatest year in coverage that I have ever seen, and was certainly worthy of DPOY consideration. However, the inadequacies of the rest of this defense have finally relegated his performance to just above average in coverage this year playing more man isolation coverages. In contrast, Asante Samuel, Rashean Mathis, and Chris McAllister benefit from a superb front 7 that make them look much Better than their actual ability.
It is a shame that he has not had just an average DL the last four years in DEN. His performance would be even greater than it was the last 2 years when he had 18 INT's. The teams that succeed in the playoffs ALL have had a dominate DL against the pass. Something DEN has not had since Yikes! Grob's zone blitz days. As the DL goes, so does this Defense against good QB's. Not a good record.
I had high hopes for the Pass rush to return with Bates, but all that has happened is going from a top ten to a bottom 2 run defense. The pass rush is still nowhere near consistent with zero pressure and 1 TEAM sack versus good OL/QB's this year. Leaving Champ and Dre alone outside with an eight man in the box look will surrender big plays as we just saw. I hope something kicks in quick or this is just going to be ugly this year.

Bad sign when we start dragging up prior years stats to defend our team. Champs best is behind him. Hard to admit for some but its true.

No one's "defending" our team. A rival fan came in asking for some proof of Champ's performance and people just answered.
And Champ's best may be behind him but he's still the best without a doubt and if we can get him a good Dline (finally) next year he will be just as good as he has been.
If we don't get this guy a ring I'm going to die.

Bad sign when posters still read what they want into a thread. That is the reason alot of good posters have left the mane. Very little football talk and too much unsubstantiated opinion.
