Jaguars sign DT Jackson
McDaniel goes to IR

10/31/07

The Jaguars have made two roster moves, signing defensive tackle Grady Jackson to a contract and placing defensive tackle Tony McDaniel on injured reserve with a wrist injury.

Jackson, 34, started the first seven games of the season for the Atlanta Falcons before being released on Oct. 23. Jackson, 6-2, 345, had recorded 18 tackles and one sack for the Falcons. The 11-year veteran has played with Oakland, New Orleans, Green Bay and Atlanta after being selected by the Raiders in the sixth round of the 1997 NFL draft out of Knoxville College. He has started 102 of his 146 career games and has recorded 499 tackles, 33.5 sacks and eight forced fumbles. He will wear jersey number 90.

McDaniel, 22, has played in four games this season and had recorded four solo tackles and two quarterback pressures. The 6-7, 310-pound defensive tackle has played in 15 career games after being signed as an undrafted rookie free agent on April 30, 2006. He has totaled 25 tackles and one sack for his career.

No surprise here. They are about to lose Marcus Stroud for four games due to a dirty pee test.

I'm not suprised the Broncos didn't look his way. First, he was frustrated with the scheme in Atlanta this year that required him to occupy blockers. Bates expects the same thing. Second, I think Pat probably told Shanny that he gets to play with what he has. He broke down/caved in and allowed the team to sign Simeon Rice. That didn't turn out so well... Pat won't allow another possible addition like that this year.

1 (available) player would not make a big difference on this team at this time.

Disagree, I'm sure if Shanahan had wanted Grady, he would have gotten Grady.

On another note, keep Simeone Rice off the field. Please. Don't deactivate Jarvis or Crowder for that loud mouthed crybaby.

A good move not bringing this guy in. We have signed enough lazy, washed up defenders.

I admit that I am acsolutely dumbfounded with Rice. I was neutral about his signing, and it seemed to be a resonable, calculated risk what with the "injury" and all. But he has been very disappointing.

I am no longer neutral about him. I would just cut his arse........

Cut his ass an then what? We have no one to bring up to replace him and we eat a boatload of $$$ Keep him on the team and see if he starts to improve or bench him
