Because he would rather let guys slash to the lane right past him and go for the block becides it would be way to hard to try to get a ball from shaq or amare. our bigs took a total crapper in the second half of that game. but on the pluss side nene looked good in his limited time.

Did you honestly believe that the Suns wouldn't get back into the game? DEN shot 60% first half and Suns shot in the 30%. Right their those two numbers will move closer together in the second half. That's without even figuring how well Suns score points and how much effort the Nuggets put into not playing D. I kept saying it would be a ball game in the 4th quarter but I didn't expect the suns to win by 15.

I thought it would be a close game, but I also didn't expect the Suns to outscore the Nuggets by about 40 points, allowing 80 while only scoring 45ish.

Can't believe I'm actually cheering for the Sonics tonight. First time in my life I'm cheering against the Nuggets but I just can't risk the Nuggets winning 50 games and Karl coming back. Losing back-to-back against the Artest/Miller-less Kings and Sonics during the most important stretch of the season all but ensures Karl is gone - the most important thing for any Nuggets fan.
Now go get Larry Brown.
Paladin
04-06-2008, 11:55 PM
Get someone. The Nuggets just simply played themselves right out of the playoffs. When the chips are down, they play as if they have absolutely no offense. And they have no answer for a zone D except for the one-on -one stuff from Iverson or Melo. Maybe they need to learn how to play as a team?
montrose
04-07-2008, 12:05 AM
Maybe they need to learn how to play as a team?
Bingo, it's terrible coaching. Every close game, the other team just runs a little set play to perfection. The Nuggets look like they've never seen the pick and roll before, all the while Karl's fat @$$ never gets up off the bench and saves time outs like their rollover minutes from AT&T.
I just find it so funny that people whine and complain about Shanny keeping his job, while George Karl's managed to fumble arguably the league's most talented roster into becoming one of the most disappointing teams in NBA (and possibly Denver-sports) history.

I actually think AI and Larry would work well (although I'd prefer AI opts-out and leaves). My concern would be Larry and Melo following Team USA a few years ago. With that, Melo's grown up a lot since then and Brown has always had a hard time with 1st and 2nd year guys but I think he's mesh very well with Melo, K-Mart, Camby and co.

My hand to God ... I talked to Carlesimo four or five ago at Pike Place Market in Downtown Seattle ... I said I was a Nuggets fan, and he said "we owe them one." Hand to God. We dealt them a couple historic losses this year, it wouldda been tough to sweep 'em after those first three games - shot 68% from the field last time out. Besides, taking them to double OT on a back-to-back roadie is not so bad ... plus, Golden State had lost earlier in tha day.
I wanna play New Orleans anyway, not San Antonio.
Lary Brown will not be coming to denver he and karl are good friends and it would be viewed as an insult.
I dunno ... like Dog Moe, they're both Carolina guys, and I seriously doubt Karl would stand in Larry's way. It'll be one of those "I talked with George at great length before I accepted this job, and he encouraged me to take it" things ....
No way AI opts out ... he's been all over the place talking about how long it took he and his family to get settled in Denver, how his kids love it there, how he'll end his career there, on and on .... that's the least of my worries.
I don't care if they owe us one. The problem with the nuggets is whenever THEY need to win, (ie now, or any playoff series), they don't and won't.

I don't think AI will opt out either. If he does, he may opt out and sign an extension for a little less cash but more years. I'm torn because I love AI, he plays harder than anyone and he's possibly the most fun player to watch in the NBA; but I don't think his style is conducive to winning games. I preferred it when he was on Philly and I could enjoy watching him play his heart out as his team still lost all the time and not feel bad because my team took an L. I feel we'd be better off if he opted-out and went elsewhere, and we try to get an improved PG to start in the backcourt with JR at the 2.
Something's gotta give though as Stan isn't going let us sit way over the luxury tax with a non-playoff team. He can't control AI staying or going, but he may tell the FO to let JR and Najera walk. Stan may also tell them to move Camby and/or Nene for expirings to get the team to a more reasonable number. Funny enough, he's on the hook for $3 million a piece for Atkins and Hunter, both of which don't play. Double their salaries for the luxury tax and Stan is paying $12 million for Atkins and Hunter, healthy scratches on a nightly basis! And people think the Broncos have FO problems...

The win last night doesn't change the massive choke job from last weekend and what it means about this team. I don't have any confidence that this team isn't 5 and out material still, but it wouldn't shock me to see them get hot for a series and actually do something. Still they can't do it for an entire playoff run and that's why the team needs to be shaken up. I don't want to see Karl coaching them beyond this season. Maybe if he'd revert back to his old Furious George days but he's mellowed out too much to get any consistency out of this team. And they FO needs to seriously consider trading AI.

They aren't that much better than anyone else. I'm sure they will kill the 8th seed but after that it should be a dog fight.

Man you all are a touchy bunch. Yes, most of laker fans posting in this thread have been here all year, although they are understandably more vocal. LABF conveniently shows up in a non-political thread once the #1 one seed is sewn up, but he the laker fan version of Angry Llama, so no surprise there ;D.
As for the car flag comment, I lived in Socal during the Shaq championship era and the car flag/ bandwagon hopping was hilarious. Much the same way their are Charger car flags popping up everywhere now. And living in Socal helped me really develop a disdain for the majority of Laker "fans" I came across. Like any fan base, their were some good ones but for the most part they were obnoxious and the only players they knew on the team were Kobe and Shaq.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict a Nuggets win over the Lakers in the playoffs. I think in some odd way Carmelo's off the court problem will provide an impetus to prove something in the postseason. JR will need to come up big, as will the bigs. A challenge like guarding Kobe could push JR to really live up to his physical talent. Lord knows he's at least the athlete Bryant is. Now let's see him be a basketball player as well.

I'm still blogging from LA these days, and God bestowed good fortune upon me last night as I received a last-minute invite to Lamar Odom's season-ending party at the Cabana Club in Hollywood. I don't want to over-analyze one party too much (plus, it's not like I ever get to go to these things), but what I observed last night told me a lot about this Lakers team. Trust me when I tell you this: we Nuggets fans should be very, very, very fearful of a matchup with the Lakers.
First off, no matter what I say about the quality of the girls at this event (nevermind the healthy girl-to-guy ratio), I won't do them justice. Let's just say that if reincarnation is in fact true, I want to come back as a Laker player. There, I got that out of the way.
Second, let me preface what I'm about to say by stating that I hate the Lakers. I've hated them since they waxed the Nuggets in the 1985 Western Conference Finals and will always hate them.
Now for the observations...
-Even though there were champagne buckets everywhere, I never saw one of the players really drinking. Odom - the host - nursed the same glass of champagne for about an hour or so, and waved people off offering him refills. I never saw Ronny Turiaf, Derek Fisher, Pau Gasol, DJ Mbenga, Vladimir Radmonovic, Sasha Vujacic, Luke Walton, Coby Karl or Jordan Farmar drink anything. Trevor Ariza was a frequent visitor to the bar and drank bottle after bottle after bottle...of water. In light of Carmelo Anthony's potentially pending DUI charge, this was incredible.
-None of the players walked in with an entourage of more than two or three friends. In most cases, they just showed up solo or with another teammate (Gasol with Radmonovic, Turiaf with Ariza). The guy with the biggest entourage was Coby Karl, and believe me - his three friends aren't capable of getting him into any trouble.
-All the Lakers players exhibited real affection for one another. I saw every possible combination of teammates hugging each other, shaking hands, high fiving, swapping stories, etc. Their camaraderie was authentic.
-Most of these guys don't lie about their height, and if anything, they under-list themselves. I'm 6'5" and change, and I felt very short. The only guys whose listed height I'd question were Walton and Ariza, who might be off by an inch from their listed height (it must be a PAC-10 thing).
-Derek Fisher - the veteran and de facto godfather of the team - showed up last and was wearing a suit and tie. Meaning, he clearly had another engagement, but made sure he showed up anyway to support Odom and you could tell Odom was genuinely touched.

And the fans will whine because the only reason they lost to the Lakers is because they got jobbed by the refs.

Well, if LOL we dont beat you guys, I am hoping like hell that the Lakers run into the Sterns, and a bs ref job, like the one in Game 6 of the Conference Finals against the Kings, happens to the Sterns.

But my money's on Boston OR Detroit over the Lakers.

I just wish we could do away with the conferences altogether. Just do a 1-16 seeding. Its a bunch of shlt that a 49 win team misses the playoffs when a 36, 37 win team makes it in. How would this first round look?
1 Boston-16 Portland-better than Boston-Atlanta
2 Detroit-15 Toronto-eh
3 LA-14 Washington-eh
4 New Orleans-13 Cleveland fun
5 San Antonio-12 Golden State fun
6 Utah-11 Denver fun
7 Phoenix-10 Dallas fun
8 Houston-9 Orlando fun

Yeah because Boston/Detroit only have to play 1 series before they get to the NBA finals. Wonder how Boston feels about playing Atlanta, while LA gets a 50 win team in their first round.
It's the details, guys ... you gotta look at the details.
Not just the uni colors, but the obvious pixel cuts on AI's left shoe against the Forum Blue colored backboard stanchion.
That is not the Staples center.... The Lakers have not played in the Forum this century, anyways, I get your point, it is a fake, but funny anyways

No, I know it's Staples Center ... Gasol was in grade school when last they played in the Forum. The color is called "Forum Blue."

Boston would be tough, but Detroit?
We split the season series with them, and they won by only one point @Detroit.

Doesn't matter what you do in the regular season though.
Anyways, I know the Nuggets will lose, and I'll be surprised if they win 1 game actually.
And the refs will suck shlt and not call the game down the middle, cuz they got money on the Lakers, which will frustrate the nugs into a lot of idiotic mistakes.
IF the refs REALLY had money on the series...why on Earth would they put it on the overwhelming favorites?
But I am glad you have that excuse lined up for later. This is the NBA. Horrific calls get made on a nightly basis.
The real reason why this will be a Lakers series win is because the Nuggs are just too inconsistent to execute over 4-7 games. That is not due to refs or coaches....that is solely on the players.
When they are on, they can play with anybody, which is why this series won't be a sweep. They just can't seem to string enough of those game together in a row.

I know. I just like to bitch about nba refs. And I agree, the nugs are so Jekyll and Hyde that they won't get swept, but I doubt they have a realistic shot at winning this series. If its a 6 or 7 game series Id be ecstatic.

PS: 6-2 and 200lbs is considered kinda small around here.
Oh is it? That's nice. Did I mention that I have 8% body fat and train 5 times a week? Just because most of you are fatasses that weigh 350 lbs, doesn't mean I'm "kinda small." If you met me, I'm sure "kinda small" wouldn't be the first thing that came to your mind. Well, if you still feel like a tough guy, feel free to meet me at any home Broncos game this year. No? I see you're the same lying sack of sh*t you are on the WRP forum.
No surprise there.
I don't post in the WRP forum and I rarely read it because of all the verbal diarrhea coming from both sides . Like I said, these laker fans are a touchy bunch, can't even take a little joke. (In all fairness LBF, I was just seeing if you were paying attention with the llama reference.)
Oh, and the Nuggets could not have asked for a worse match up, except for maybe the Jizz. Against the rest of teams in the west I'd say they'd have a great chance at winning the series but the lakers and Jazz are terrible matchups for them.

Oh, and sixtimes, give it a rest dude. Talk some Nuggs/Lakers and leave the playground crap at home. I've met two of the guys you've challenged to a fight and your assertion that they are middle aged fat asses couldn't be further from the truth. I give these guys plenty of grief but I'm fairly certain that they know I'm just giving them ****. This thread has two pages of garbage posts.
Probably time to start a playoffs thread and this one can die.

Wow, this place sounds like many of the Patriot threads/sites before the Super Bowl, the Lake show expects Stern to magically will them into the finals and given the trophy. I don't realistically think the Nuggs have a shot, however, I am going to take great joy in seeing the rapist and the rest of the clown posse go down, whether it be in the western playoffs or to the Celts in the Finals.

I actually think this is a better match up for us than the hornets. it should be a pretty fun series to watch the nuggets are going to have to find a way to contain kobe if he scores under 30 it would be a sucsess in my book. I wish nene were healthy he man handles gasol when ever they play. but hopefully karl will start jr on kobe AC cant cover him melo wouldnt really be good I could see kmart but honestly jr or kuba would be our best bet on the alleged sex offender.

Even if Denver holds Kobe under 30, it doesn't matter. It means they are throwing doubles at Kobe and he is kicking it out to Gasol, Fisher, or Radmonovich. The Lakers last few games Kobe scored less than 30 and a couple were blowouts, all were W's.

Get real, guys, we're gonna get killed ... and not because Derek Fischer shows up at Walton's party wearing a suit, or because they have small entourages. LA Gangs fun fact: Mara Salvatrucha added "13" to their name (making them "MS13") as an homage to La Emme - the Mexican Mafia. La Emme uses '13' as their tag because 'M' is the 13th letter of the alphabet ... and Salvatrucha added 13 because the Mexican Mafia made their peace with 18th Street.
