I just got a new job! But...since I am going from part-time back to full-time, I am considering hiring a maid/housekeeper to come in just once a month or every other week to clean. I love having a clean house...but hate cleaning it!

Since, I've never done this...has anyone that has got any tips?
...and what are going rates?

This is the service I'm considering...but of course, the price depends on many different factors.

I don't, but always wanted to hire someone to come in and clean the place up.

But ive always done my own cleaning, i take pride in washing my own clothes, dishes, mop floors, ect.

Sassy is going to have to stop shopping if you want a house cleaner

Not really a housekeeper really...I'm talking about someone to come in and major clean once or twice a month...I'd still do laundry, dishes, etc.
I don't shop...I watch football ;D

I feel ya Sassy, i answered and did my best.

How is it working with kids?

I'm guessing it takes a lot of patience.

More i read, the more i think your GF took over your account!
Never hired a cleaning service but I do pay a ton on having a wife. She cleans but it isnt cheap being married. The company you are looking at is franchised so different from one company to another. I have done advertising for the local one and seem to be sufficient.

There's another place in town called Molly Maids...here's their list of minimum cleaning:

Our thorough cleaning process includes everything on this list and more.

All Rooms

Dust baseboards, light fixtures, furniture, sills, shelves, blinds, and décor.
Remove cobwebs.
Vacuum/Mop all floors, carpets, rugs and stairs.
Vacuum cloth furniture including under cushions.
Clean glass surfaces.
Make up or straighten linens.
Empty wastebaskets.
Bathrooms

Clean showers, tubs, and sinks inside and out.
Scrub toilet, including bowl, seat, lid, tank, and base.
Clean, dry, and shine all mirrors, chrome, and tile.
Damp-wipe cabinet fronts.
Clean all shelves, fixtures, and items on vanity.
Kitchen

Clean, dry, and shine all appliance surfaces, range hood, and sink.
Clean stove drip pans, burner grates, and control knobs.
Wash countertops.
Damp-wipe cupboard fronts, table, and chairs.
Clean microwave oven inside and out, including turntable.

This would be perfect~ They do inhouse estimates...and it depends on square footage, number of bedrooms, bathrooms, pets, etc. However, I do have a friend that has someone come in and clean every other week so I was going to talk to her, too.

We have a local service come in twice a month. You can really tell the difference.

pretty much clean the hell out of bathrooms, kitchen and dusting etc. For some reason our house gets really dusty, so it helps.

So what do prices run down there?
Just curious...so I have something to go by.
My friend's cleaning person charges here $65. But she does it on her own, not through a service.

We pay about $100 a month. Sometimes its a bit extra if we have them do other stuff..ie when we have company in they make beds, fold the toilet paper hotel style (haha) etc...
