Why the hell is bates so retarded. We basically went back to Jim Bates scheme. Our ends were lined up wide again and the c-gap was wide open again. Now i didnt nitice if we were playin cover two or classis bates man on man but I sure did notice our front seven was playin awfully like the bates scheme.
Also why dont we go to the blitz scheme? We have champ and dre, bench Fergy and get Foxworth in as the "deep safety" bring lynch up a lot.......Play like we did Pittsburgh in the 1st half(by the way in the second half we started blitzing less and thats why they practially scored those two TDs in the 4th WE NEED TO PLAY TO WIN AND STUFF IT DOWN THEIR THROATS, not shy away and play not to lose Bates u piece of s**t) Im rly not likin bates too passive of a gameplan.
WE GOTTA PLAY LIKE WE DID IN 2005, except now we have a shot to have a better secondary at stopping the pass with Bailey, Bly, Foxworth, Paymah,Cox, Lynch, Abdullah(screw u fergy)

Imagine that, two cornerbacks that are so dedicated to helping this defense that they're peeking in to stop the run and they get beat by deep balls. Oh, and it just happened to be one of the best QB's in the NFL that beat them... I hope they can find a way to somehow show their faces at practice tomorrow! Sarc over.

screw them getting beat by one of the best Qbs in the NFL, but they gave up two plays thats it.......against one of the best possibly best(Cutler of course, maybe Russel) at throwing the deep ball and they suck?!?!?!. Farve threw two deep balls that went their way and hes one of the best at deep balls, I c an gaurantee if we dont want our corners giving it up deep and not look to stop the run they wont get burnt in such a manner and could quite possibly end up with the ball in their hands

A cornerbacks primary role is to stop the pass and to place that in jeopardy by trying to cover someone elses arse who isn't doing their job puts them at fault also. They are too good and been around too long to be making that mistake, not only once but twice in one game.

it would be nice to have an aggressive D that makes plays rather than a reactive D that hopes the O makes a mistake

Our defense held them to 13 points through 4 quarters.
If we can't beat a team that scores 13 points, it's obvious which side of the ball the blame lies.

You can credit the stupid greenbay penalties for the lack of their Offensive scoring. (The D just got flat lucky) the score wasn't much higher.

Forget the stupidity, the goal-line fumbles, the defense better suited for rushing a fraternity.
The Broncos were beaten by two plays...two passes that Brett Favre said "were the best throws I've ever made...ever".
Back in 1998 the Broncos were 13 & 0, playing the NY Giants. QB Kent Graham...he of such NFL anonymity that teammates that played with him can't remember playing with him...threw a perfect game, punctuated by an 7 color rainbow that gently fell into the hands of some faceless WR to win the game and end a quest for a perfect season.
I'm telling ya, it's no scheme thing...it's God, as Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown.
Reverse the karma I say...open a soup kitchen for Raider fan, bottle water for the homeless rich in San Diego & maybe open a 'Who's really your daddy' search engine for Chiefs faithful.
Maybe we need forgiveness for something.

I think it's football karma, and when you get inside the 5 two times and come away with 3 points, the football gods throw a ****-fit.
I remember the sinking feeling when the FG team came on. Then, I watched our team cheering and was thinking... what the **** are you guys cheering for? You just blew it.
It was a brutally hard game to take.
As for the defensive scheme, I can't help but agree with most people who wonder... why die lying down? We came out swarming against Pitt and had some success. We gave up some points, but made big plays in the process.
Then, we come out against a QB who can't move like he used to and is primed to start making goofy throws again... and we just let him sit back there. Passive, boring defense.
We DID only give up 13 points in regulation, though. So, tough to pin the loss on the D. Still, GB stayed on the field a lot... and the OT TD pass was a text-book example of the "no pressure" defense biting us in the ass again.

We gave up 13 points but also allowed two (TWO!) 90 yard plus drives. And those drives weren't quick strikes but more like Sherman March to Sea types. We're extremely luckly that wasn't more.

I was thinking the same thing. It would have been different if we had only made it to the 30 yard line on a decent drive, then punched through the game-tying FG.
But to make it down to the 4 yard line....you MUST score the TD. I was absolutely emotionless when the FG went through....thinking, yes....we blew it.

Shanahan had his chance to win the ball game on 2nd and goal, at the GB 3 yd line, :22 secs, no TO's, and he ran the ball. The loss is on shanahan as far as I'm concerned. He never gave them the chance to win the game, too busy playing not to lose again..dman

I just have one question on the scheme..
Why Ian gold is covering team's best TE's(Gates,Dallas Clark) and Receivers(Driver)???

Yep, if we do get mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, it would be interesting to see them put someone like Cargile in Gold's spot. He is about the same size, he's faster, he has safety coverage skills, and he hits pretty hard on special teams. If we continue to try new things and shake it up, I would like to see Cargile play this spot the way Sam Brandon used to. That was back when we could actually handle Gates and Gonzales.

Sorry dude but this post is just a piss poor analysis of the actual plays those bombs occured on. I love Champ and Bly as much as anyone, but your post is simply not what happened. No biting on anything, no being fooled by play action.
Champ was in his backpedal making his reads, fluidly turned his hips to run with the receiver and simply got beat by a fast receiver, with a great throw and catch.
Dre had the same situation only was step for step with his man, but when he turned his head to watch the ball, he drifted inside too much and lost position on the ball.
They got beat. It happens. I hardly expect it to be common place but pretending it was for other reasons is just absurd.

PS. If you want to see some hilarity though, watch the Champ play and watch Ferguson playing the deep field. His lack of open field tackling ability is what cost the TD.

It seemed like GB had every opportunity to blow us out. It was one of those games that every play you knew the Packers would get a first down if they wanted to. That zone coverage was useless. We would have three or four on the line and everyone else drop back in zone and Favre would complete the pass to his receiver with two or three of our guys standing 10 yards from him watching him catch it.

I'd be surprised if GB didn't feel the same way about us.

i totally agree with broncs2bowl
screw Bates crap scheme. this team is not built for that with the current players we have. aside from Sam Adams huge ass this team is built lighter and quicker which means they need to emphasize the speed of the defense. Bring Lynch into the box, and send a blitz most of the time. Foxworth as a deep Safety would be awesome he has the talent knows the position and has the speed to cover receivers.
This team is more suited to the style of play that Coyer was using. Blitz and let Champ and Bly with a little Foxworth do their thing.
AS for everyone saying Champ and Bly looked bad with Green Bay, everyone has off days and u r not going to look as good if u r constantly having to watch out for the run as opposed to playing your man.<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_1770096", true); </SCRIPT>
