I loved the interview with Favre's wife. I'm sure the biggest boor she encounters at any function is the guy who comes up and starts making jokes about their last name. She seemed mildly incredulous to still be fielding questions about it on national television 17 years into Brett's career.

For some strange reason it seems like the networks feel like they need to add a "personality" to the night time broadcasts to try and come up with something interesting for the casual fan. Kornheiser is a complete tool and has no business being on a national broadcast.

If the ratings for MNF hadn't of suffered for years on ABC, would it have reached the point where it is now? They must feel like they can do anything (or have to do anything) to ensure ratings, hence the "Star power interview". Tonight we had not only that, but the Farve sob story as well....unbearable.
The TV mute button is a wonderful thing, one of the best inventions of the 20th century.
The only good thing about MNF anymore as far as I can tell is that it's not subject to flex scheduling. The Broncos are in for a lean year, like it or not, and the game against Tennessee is safe because of it being on MNF.....as for the Sunday night X-mas Eve game against the Chargers, you can kiss it goodbye.

I like Vince Vaughn but hypotheically, if I were a casual football fan, I wouldn't sit through three quarters of a game between two teams I don't care about just to hear him talk for five minutes.
Their whole "star power interview" is a horrible idea and I doubt it attracts as many causal fans to watch the game as it does pissing off the real football fans.
For some strange reason, I didn't mind the interview with Favre's wife too much. At least she has a unique perspective about football that isn't talked about that often, instead of talking to some actor/actress who most likely has less football knowledge than I do.
But that being said, the game would have been better without these meaningless interviews. CBS, FOX and even NBC does without these gimmick interviews, MNF can do without it as well.

I'm so, so tired of the interviews in the booth, where they actually forget to follow the action on the field for 5-10 minutes while they do the Johnny Carson thing. (Tonights Guests: Deanna Favre and Vince Vaughn)
The worst was when Vince Vaughn tried to steer the conversation to what was happening on the field, and Tony K. said "Enough about football, let's talk about...." or something to that effect. Geezus!

Don't try to tell me to mute the tv or anything either, to me football is an experience and watching it with mute is not something I will give in to, if they can't put out a better product I just won't watch.

Everytime Jaws breaks down a play, Kornheiser has to pipe up with some "funny" remark that just totally ruins everything. Jaws has class and knows what he's talking about and all the real football fans out there like listening to him break down a play. Kornheiser just doesn't understand it and thinks he has to make some smart-ass remark to get himself back in the limelight because he has zero football knowledge. I don't see how a guy like Jaws can put up with it. They must be paying him well.
Trico I don't care for much, but he does do a decent job with the play-by-play. If it was just Trico and Jaws it would be so much better.
I think the best crew is still Michaels and Madden, hands down. They have class and love'em or hate'em, Madden has style and at least isn't just a freakin' clown like Kornheiser.
I don't see how a company like ESPN can put that kind of product out and be satisfied with it. I'm with everyone else in that I won't and haven't watched a MNF game unless Denver is playing. And I won't until they can Kornheiser.

pretty good take.
although madden can be captian obvious - his bleeds football. he has a love for the game that is evident and comes through in his broadcasting.
i see that same quality in Jaws. i don't see that in Kornhole - he's just there for self promotion - he adds absolutely no value to the game or to the broadcast. espn should do us all a favor and get him off the tv.
i am also not a fan of the interviews during the game. the interviews could still take place, but not during and between plays. they could be half time slots and/or inbetween quarters...

ESPN's coverage is like watching the Tonight Show. And what was with the Farve Fest?
Let's see.... let's interview Farve's wife, then the star of the new Christmas movie. Who else did they have in the booth, all the while ignoring most of the action on the field?
I'm waiting for Stupid Pet Tricks or next season for a studio band. And as for the live studio audience I swear it was mic'ed up for Farve fans who seemed louder on TV than the Invesco fans, and I know that's not possible.
And If I have to listen to Jaworski say "laser" one more time.

I'm sorry but when I watch a football game I expect unbiased coverage from the network providing that coverage.
It all began in the pregame with the picks. Aside from Tommy J. who chose the Broncos, it was a Packer love fest all the way through. Even camera coverage was slanted towards all the Packer fans in the stands... even though I thought at first it was TV bias, after reading other threads, maybe there were that many packer fans in the stands, just as there were that many Sox fans in Coors Field the two nights before.
I'm sorry... it's just me. When I watch a football game, I expect an untainted view for all fans who tune in, and I could really give a crap about the star of Frank Claus.

I enjoyed the nights the were focused on Springsteen and the Foo Fighters, but the JLo night was bull!

Kornheiser's thing was that he argues for the sake of arguing. Always playing devil's advocate. That is what worked on PTI and got him the job... However, I dont think anyone really cares for such negativity DURING a MNF game. I wish he would quit finding things to talk sh*t about and focus on the game being played. For a guy as negative as him, Im surprised he can get any of his words out with Brett's c*ck lodged firmly in his mouth.

Imagine kornholer and madden calling a Green bay game. (shudder)
The panties would fly. They'd be down on the fifty yard line the moment Brett gets a little sweaty. ROFL!

LOL, Trumpy was on my local broadcast on radio. He's okay, but sometimes I think he drinks, too.

I like Tony on PTI, but he needs to leave MNF.
I wonder how Jim Rome would do, he was suppose to be in the booth a few years back.
Please don't ever think that again i can hear that twit going on and on about his new race horses and how they came in first and how he won some money and how he really knows what hes doing when it comes to horses. And the real truth is (somebody) that knew horses advised him on what to buy, everett should have stomped a mud hole into that candy a** when he had the chance. What a ghey ploy to shot ones self into the limelight now the parrot has a huge radio show.
