RAIDERS HOLDING RHODES FOR SPITE?
We recently reported that the Oakland Raiders are thinking about dumping running back Dominic Rhodes. Both Jay Glazer of FOX and Chris Mortensen of ESPN are reporting that the Raiders are hesitating simply because they want to keep a couple of former coaches from grabbing him.
Specifically, owner Al Davis doesn't want Jon Gruden of the Bucs or Mike Shanahan of the Broncos to reel in Rhodes.
Per Mort, the Raiders have been trying to figure out whether someone with waiver priority higher than the Bucs or the Broncos would make a claim for Rhodes' contract, thereby blocking the Bucs or Broncos from bringing him aboard.

Wow...I guess when you are more concerned about trying to hurt other teams rather than trying to improve your own it's not surprising your team is consistently in the cellar.
What's funny is, we don't even want Rhoads. There's 20 RB's we could have as good as Rhoades. How funny.

At some point it become pathific watching the mind of human being crumble. I think it actual so easy to make fun of the raiders organization right now it not even worth it.
We should pick him up. Him and BMarsh can carpool together.

Why exactly should we be interested in helping out a division rival?
Seems to me that the Broncos made that mistake with Warren, forgive us for not being anxious to make the same mistake.
Rhodes returned a KO today but other than that was MIA yet again.
Cutting him hurts our cap next year so I'm not seeing the reasoning. If he can contribute even occasionally I'd rather keep him personally.
Besides I've been reading post after post of how much he sucks over here.
Why do you even care?

A death grip on last place is better than having no grip at all just ask the boney fingers of al davis.

We would be sticking it to denver if we held Warren out on purpose. Keeping Rhodes away from denver is just good business.

Jesus Christ....
Back in the day when we were making noise about acquiring Deion Sanders for a playoff push the Chargers put in a wavier claim to screw us.
It worked.
The Chargers were not a playoff team that year, they did it just because they could.
Division rivals aren't in the business of helping each other out last I checked.
Do you really expect us to cut Rhodes just because you will soon have a real need at RB?
Stupid thread.

Maybe we are afraid of Jordans back acting up again....
Maybe we don't want to take the cap hit...
Maybe the report of Rhodes being on the block is wrong....
Maybe we want him to return kicks....
Or maybe we just dont wanna help out the Bucs either...
What difference does it make?
If anybody else wanted him so badly they should have made a play during the offseason.
Christ you can smack the Raiders for a lot of things right about now but I'm not seeing how failing to cut a dude in order to help other teams shore up weaknesses is one of them.
Like I said...stupid thread.

Being unwilling to help another team that you may be competing with down the road without receiving compensation is good business.
Actually I may be coming around to your point of view though....
We are in need of some o line help.
How's about cutting a few and letting us pick them up.
Thanks in advance.

We'll see if that tune changes once Bush is ready to roll. Anyone heard a new word on him yet? I can't imagine they keep all those RBs. Jordan, Fargas, Rhodes, and Bush would be an incredibly deep backfield... much too deep for a team like OAK to be worrying about.

Well, since Denve ris in the Raiders division. That would be good business sense to keep Rohides from coming here, If Denver was interested of course.
What ever happened to Mike Bell?

Once Warren was on your roster to open season the 5th round pick was owed. What would holding him out do? Not to mention he is hurt already and not going to make a difference for you this year. Really you just gave up a 5th round pick for one sack and a safety vs Broncos from him, but now he's injured and useless.

Didn't Al used to base all his offseason moves on stymieing our efforts to get players whether his team needed them or not? He's so worthless...
