We got home a couple of hours ago. Safe and sound. There is a coat of ash on everything. The Sky is pretty hazy still. It is better here then in San Clemente.
I just wanted to post a few pictures and say thanks to everyone.
Pulling out at 6 am.

if i knew you were stranded, i would have offered you our extra room at my house in LF. Smells bad from smoke and ash falling constantly but at least my wife would have to have me sleep in our bed. I have been snoring again lately so i was banished to the extra room. I kinda feel a little responsible as I pumped up SD and OC so much I forgot to let you know about the fires that come through here. This has been the worst though ever. Let me know in 2 years when this happens again so you can prepare to stay up here for a few days. All I ask is that you do my chores :)

We stayed up in San Clemente. It was real nice the first 2 days then the smoke moved in.
It was funny, at first we did not take it very serious. When we were evacuated we went down to Encinitas, had breakfast, just kind of looking for something to do....Then a friend from Denver texted me and said 250000 people were evacuated and it was a scramble to find a hotel room.

The real sad thing was running into people who were from the hardest hit areas. We talked to a couple from Fallbrook last night. You could tell they had not slept in a few days and were on the edge of a breakdown.

I guess this is the "hazing" to become a Californian. I must say you were right about this area. It is great. I have NO regrets about moving here.

Glad you're okay.

I had to evacuate twice so I can understand how some of those people felt. Fortunately, my house is still in one piece when I got back.
