Who the hell is Glenn Martinez? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Mart%C3%ADnez)

Hmmm... who would write that detailed of a wikipedia entry for a 3rd string receiver from Saginaw Valley State?

Either Glenn himself or his mom, I'm guessing....

Haha... I was wondering the same thing! I was shocked to see a practice squad guy with such a detailed wiki.

I swear to God, if he catches a touchdown this week, I'll shoot him myself just to avoid the "Hixon-esque" hype he'd get.

Martinez is the next coming of the "Great One"

I am telling you, dig a little deeper into his bio and you will see that he not only plays WR for the Broncos, But he also ended world hunger with the snap of his fingers ROFL!

Much like the apostles passing on their gift of the holy spirit to their disciples, it appears that Hixon passed on his hyperbole to Martinez before he was cut.

If we don't make some kind of trade move for an experienced receiver... you can pretty much interpret that as the franchise giving up on the season.

Why do you say that?

Javon could be back in two weeks so why panic now?

Stokley, Marshall and Scheffler with Graham gives us plenty of passing options.

The trade deadline has passed and I reckon we gave up on the season in the 2nd half against SD.

I'm not sure I'm ready to be that fatalistic about it. But I can certainly feel where you're coming from. My reaction to reading the name Glenn Martinez (no offense if you're out there Glenn) caused a pit in my stomach... You know that feeling when you know you're in trouble, but you're just not sure how bad yet...

Yeah, like when your wife gives you a very serious look and says "We need to talk...."

Could be that you left the toilet seat up again, could be that she's leaving you for another man... you know it's trouble, but you're not sure how bad....

Actually, Martinez looked pretty good against SD, one of the few bright spots. It's only one game, granted, but it could be the proverbial diamond in the rough.

I think that is reaching a bit, Popps...even without Walker our receiving options aren't bad with Marshall, Stokley, Scheffler and Graham. Even if Martinez is just a flash in the pan, hell, our offense has functioned quite nicely for 12 seasons or so without a legitimate 3rd WR.

Exactly. He was one of the few players with the heart to compete that day. I'd like to think that he can add some good depth to our WR corps.

I'd say one of the few guys who played the SD game who looked like he gave a shiat.

Forget all the name recognition. I'm looking for guys who can make plays or at least look like they want a job.

My bad, I didn't think it had. In that case, we have tied hands. I'm just not on board with the idea that he'll have surgery and be back in two weeks. Does anyone believe that?

I didn't like all the celebrating by Martinez after his catches with his team getting absolutely crushed. I guess it could be that he felt good being his first real game and all but I'm just hoping that kind of exhibition doesn't continue.

BTW, he wasn't the only one that did it. I forget who it was(probably drunk by then).

I agree , Martinez looked like about the only guy playing with heart against SD. Now of course he wants to display all he can to the coaches, but I think he looked pretty good and anxious to see if he continues to play well . It would be nice for him to step up right about now.

I heard that after Hixon requested to be released so he could go fight world crime and corruption that he gave Martinex his practice jersey to wear under his pads on gameday and ever since Martinez hasn't dropped a ball!!! Coincedence??? I think not.

You are so correct. I was thinking about the Javon situarion last night, and based on what you said, I was thinking we should actually start Martinez. Leave Stokley in the slot where he's best, and let this kid's enthusiasm maybe help light a fire.

It shocked me. Not the celebration, that fact that a Bronco player showed some emotion.

Apparently he has made the list of Puerto Ricans that "...includes people who were born in Puerto Rico, people who are of Puerto Rican ancestry, and many long-term residents and/or immigrants who've made Puerto Rico their home, who are significantly notable for their life and/or work."

You are CORRECT sir. I want players that have some give-a-damn in their heart!

I don't want to see our defense helping the other teams players UP after a tackle. I want to see some attitude and ROMO like play. Some kick ass BRONCO football! Not the crew that has been out there so far.

If this team lays down again this week I'm going to be REALLY ticked!:pimp:

I agree, between Clark and Martinez, we shoulld see one of the new guys across from Marshall. Stokely plays better in the slot, he has better mismatches. I have no problem with Martinez and his spirit even if there was a "5 yard celebration." The rest of the team was playing like **** and had their heads in the sand. He was getting the crap knocked out of him, and he was still fired up. I'll take that any day.

Go Martinez, and Myers, and Kuper, and possibly Foxworth, and.... oh brother!

He stood out to me in preseason as a guy I hoped they would keep on the roster. They did, and I hope he steps into the gameday squad and contributes mightily.
