We just sold our gas guzzling Toyota land cruiser. Loved the thing and it ran great but man did it suck gas.

We're looking at buying a little subaru to zip around the mountains in. I hear great things about their reliability but I'm looking for some first hand knowledge.

We're looking to get something in the mid 90's or so for about 5k. Outback or something to that effect. Most subarus in that price range seem to have about 120k. Am I asking for trouble?

Thanks

Meck,
Dont own one myself, but I live in the Subaru Mecca here in Bozeman, it's seriously the official car of Bozeman! You see older, I mean 80's, Suby's around here still running like they were new.

Check out this link, it's a testament to how rabid these people are here of their Suby's.

Go to your local softball fields. Look for the beefcake lady's with butch haircuts who tend to frequent other ladies. Ask them about subaru's they will either know the answer or have a former lover who does. For some reason that is the car of choice for todays Lesbian woman. I'm not making this up either. They actually did a survey on it.

In all seriousness though. They have really good track records and the all wheel drive in the outbacks are awesome to have.

boxer engines mean oil doesn't have to pump UP into the engine, so longevity is usually pretty good.
