"It wasn't easy for us," said LaDainian Tomlinson, the Chargers' star tailback and good sportsman. "It may have looked that way, but they just made a couple mistakes they couldn't recover from and we kept going."
He could have easily laughed it up -- and probably should have.
he is a very classy individual...by far my favorite non-bronco in the nfl

I hope from now on he realizes the importance of not saying anything stupid again. Just do what the Pats do and keep silent about your opponents, or talk them up.

love his class, and an unbelievable athlete, any team would sell the lot for a guy like him. Arther Blank, good choice picking him... then trading him to SD. Hows that working out?

No kidding. What a douche-bag he is! His behavior always pisses me off. I've honestly never seen a QB so cocky and jerk-offish when he wins, especially when he's sucked more and more lately. Talk about bad form. Even guys like Big Ben who were young and stupid didn't act like they were the big men on campus the way Rivers does. He's asking for some major Karma bite-back.

I remember Rivers first game against the Broncos when Drew Brees went down in the last game of the 2005 season. In the 4th quarter Rivers threw a pick to who I think was Sam Brandon. Rivers ran him out of bounds but 3 steps after he was out of bounds kept on going and ripped off Brandon's helmet by the facemask. That was when I started to look negatively on him. Nothing has changed with how he has represented himself.

I'm not sure what it is about playing against the Broncos, but looking back Rivers is 3-0 as a starter against Denver with a 125 QB rating and his teams have put up some monstrous numbers.

I don't think Denver matches up very well against San Diego, to be honest with you. Not to say that we're better, just that we have a lot of favorable match ups.

Where you see a cocky and jerkoffish QB when he wins, I see someone who's just having fun. This isn't Chad Johnson. So he's having a little fun with the fans. So what? He also talked to a fan about the Rockies before the game. Are you honestly going to extrapolate something like him holding up his hand to wonder why there were no cheers in last year's game, or him spiking the ball after the rushing TD as the worst thing from a QB.

That's also another thing I don't get. Listening to all his interviews aftewards even after a tough loss, I don't see anything disrespectful from Rivers. He does lets someone have it on the field, but that's trash talking more than anything else and it's on the field.
He's like Jake Peavy in that sense.
Edit: Unless you mean that you can't stand his voice. I can understand that.

However, I will say that Rivers does need to tone down his emotions. He has a defensive player mentality sometimes. It's his greatest strength but also his greatest weakness.

Rivers is the ultimate competitor on the field and he loves adversity. He said in an interview last week that in a strange way he's glad they're 1-3 and that everyone is writing them off.
His act last year reminded me a bit of a professional wrestler. He's the villian and was having fun with the crowd with some friendly smack.
I'd rather he be more quiet and more composed like LT but that's not the way he is. But he leaves everything on the field. Off the field, he never does anything like that. I diagree with Xenos on one thing, he actually does remind me of Chad Johnson in a way, except that he has his fun on the field instead of off the field like Chad does.
Anyway, I didn't see anything when he scored this time. He spiked the ball and went to the sideline. Any problems with what he did there sounds like sour grapes to me.

Rivers is disappointing. He handled the draft trade and two years on the bench like a classy Southern gentleman, but now he's a total ass.
LT on the other hand, walks the walk. Makes you hate the Patriots doing Roid-Boy's dance at midfield last year even more ...

I'm sorry, but LT is far from classy.
Keep in mind that last year, when up by three touchdowns with minutes to go against Denver, he stayed in the game and ran up the score...all for a record.
Then his saga against the Patriots. After giving away the playoff game last year, he took acception to the Pats celebrating a playoff win. Going on and on about how the Patriots are classless. Then this year, rubbing the whole Patriots cheating thing in their face right before their game. How did that work out LT?
LT needs to do a better job of keeping his mouth shut knowing at some point he will play these teams again.

Maybe you've never been an athlete, losing a big game, but I've been there and know how he was feeling after they lost to NE. The patriots weren't just celebrating their win, they were mocking their opponent...if you want to talk about lacking class there is a fine example...my emotions would've boiled over because of that too, and I'm a pretty level-headed guy. The heat of the moment when you're opponent is mocking you after they beat you, thats not the time to judge a man's character
Also, I don't think it was his call to make to take him out of the Denver game...I never once told my coach to take me out of a game, that is something coaches handle, that's their responsibility. so be mad at Marty for that call.
I don't recall his comments about the pats cheating....
pretty lame reasons to knock someone's character though

It was definitely Marty's call to have LT break the record against Denver last year. I recall LT saying that he wanted Michael Turner to go in and finish the game.

No, actually it isn't. It is a perfect reason to knock someone's character. He showed is character after that game and it wasn't very pretty.
Boohoo, it was a tough loss. Every single player in this league goes through a really tough loss. They are professionals.

Keep in mind that his oline also dragged him into the field because they wanted him to break it.
If you actually saw the interview with him saying that about the Patriots, you would understand that he said it as a joke. And then the day afterwards, the news broke out that they did cheated.
I do agree that he shouldn't talk about his opponents except in a positive way now. The same goes with everyone on the team.

Rivers is a class A douche. I can't stand him. As was mentioned above, take away LT and Gates, and this guy is nothing special. An average NFL QB.
LT is a great player. I don't think it's necessarily fair to judge a guy by some comments he made after a big loss. I'm sure most of us played sports on some level and have suffered those crushing defeats and I sure as hell have said things after tough losses that I have regretted.

This is kind of hippocritical.
I remember in 1998, the last game of the season against the Seahawks, we already had the 1st round bye and #1 seed, and we keep Terrell and John in there for the sake of record breaking (TD for 2000 yrds and Elway for 300 career TD passes).

That was just a stupid thing for him to say. It was like he needed to reaffirm what he was doing was right.
But I disagree with people who say he's not classy after a loss. That was really the only time I've seen him really lose it. Every other loss and you mostly see him somber. I guess that loss was more painful because he was literally running over the Patriots in that game and the ball was taken out of his hands in the second half.
