View Full Version : Broncos should trade Bailey

This teams is so bad they should see if any contender will give up a slew of draft picks for Bailey. Broncos are 2 year minimum away from rebuilding this mess on defense anyways. Even if you wouldn't want to see Bailey traded what would he realistically be worth in a trade. 2 first round picks? maybe even more then that?

Hilarious!
I really hope you're not serious.
Instead of getting rid of the giant turds we have in the front 7 (Gold, Webster, Gordon, Adams) you want us to trade away the best defensive player we've had under Mike Shanahan?
Do you realize how long it took this team to find a cover corner?
Do the names Willie Middlebrooks, Deltha O'Neal, etc ring a bell?

C'mon, Cuts ... you don't trade Hall-of-Famers in their prime. You just don't do it. I suppose the Rams did it with Dick, but this is not that.

You don't trade the man you build your defense around. We built around wilson, then he has to many bumps in the head...now we need to build around bailey.

you should never trade bailey, the nfl has not seen this great of a corner in a long time, we have seen great cover corners before, and great hitting corners, but we have not seen this combination of the two, its not often you come across someone like him, he is not the problem, i dont know what it is, but its not him

Trade any asshole that still pumps his fist and celebrates stuffing the run for a 2 yard loss in a blowout, only to turn right around and immediately give up a big play.

At the same time, his talents are being wasted because of the Broncos inferior front 7. It seems like Bailey is being wasted out there because without more heat on the QB even Champ is vulnerable.

True, but that's why I don't necessarily discount what "Cut" was saying. I think Bailey's fantastic, but without improving other parts of our defense he's as vulnerable as any other CB. If the Broncos don't figure out that they can't win with a "smoke and mirrors" front 7 it would be time to consider letting Bailey go somewhere he can actually make a difference.

The more I think about it.....the more I'm starting to think Bailey may become the NFL's version of A-Rod.
If he ever were to be traded to a heavy favorite like Indy or NE, and they failed to win it all, I wonder how long it would be before the talking heads would start to pick up on it.....

I think we should support champ, we are with him when he is playing good, now all the sudden he has a bad day and we are against him, that is a quick turnaround and can be maybe a def of bandwagon, he was the most avoided player in the nfl last year and still managed to have tied the lead in picks with 10. give him time and maybe if he can get some help from the other 10 players on the field with him maybe he can shine once again, remember it is a team sport

I'm not sure if this was directed at me, but if it is, I think you're misunderstanding me. In my opinion, the problem isn't Champ Bailey. He's doing what we expect him to do. My whole point is that because the defense is so weak in other areas it negates his effectiveness. In today's NFL, a great cornerback on an otherwise weak defense can't control a game.

After we trade Champ can we trade Cutler, Marshall, Walker, and Graham?
We could replace them with high draft picks that are destined to rule InFestco!

i directed it at everyone, im just saying he is a proven player, maybe i would say trade him if he was hyped up in college and 5-8 years later he still is unproven and we are paying him a lot, then i would say trade him (ex charles woodson). we need to focus and keep our strengths but fix and trade our weaknesses. teams that just trade away there strengths end up keep going downhill. happened to the rockies when they got ride of castilla, galaraga, and larry walker, good teams keep their good players, look at the teams that are good now, colts, pats, they have a core group that has been together for awhile

well said
There's only one guy that I'd trade Champ for. Peyton. Other than that, no way.
But on the other hand, the Lions had Barry Sanders for many years, who is lauded as perhaps the best RB ever, yet he never got that team anywhere near the SB. Would it have been a good idea to trade Barry for a king's ransom of players and picks? Maybe.

Get your facts straight.
The Lions went to an NFC Championship game in 1991.

I agree with what you're saying. It's definitely a puzzle. I hate the Patriots, but I'm starting to see the light with them a little bit. I wish our FO could figure out how the Patriots get maximum effort and maximum payoff from very average players.
I have to be honest and say that I was against the Portis for Bailey trade at first. I'm big enough to admit I was wrong about that. lol I wasn't against trading Portis, but I wanted to trade him for draft picks and start the rebuilding process then and there.

well i like what i see in cutler, so i think we should develop around him, walker and marshall continue to impress me, henry is good but we cant rely on him always with injuries and off the field problems, that leaves the OL, maybe we should draft some next year, i hear Nalen's injury is serious, plus he has 13 plus seasons, we should concentrate on the OL, build a solid offense, like the colts, and then the defense can improve and just step it up in the playoffs, colts defense has been terrible over the years, they just step it up in big games, i think we need a new MLB and put DJ back to outside, losing al wilson hurt

the colts OL is so good that their backup ran all over yesterday, and manning always has so much time to throw, thats why he is so good, if elway had that much time when he played it would be scary how good he could have been

Agreed. I like what I've seen in Cutler so far. I think the coaching staff has been a little conservative in their play calling this year, but he seems to have all of the tools. I worry that Nalen may hang up the cleats if this injury is that serious. I think he was talking about it last year. The Broncos may need to start thinking about changing their philosophy with the offensive line. It may be time to start going big up front.
On the defense, this year, the only ones who have stood out to me have been Bailey and Dumervil. I like the emotion that Lynch and Webster have shown, but the rest of the team needs to catch that enthusiasm. Personally, I think I would go ahead and release Simeon Rice and let one of the rookies learn and develop there.
Get your facts straight.

It was Shanahan that brought Champ here. The team needs some decent LBers and time to see if our new DL rookies grow into their potential. Defensive coaching is a big ?

Ya that would be OK about rice, i just think we got him because it was a good deal, we got him way cheaper than the bucs were, he was worth a shot , if he doesnt do anything then at least we tried to improve, i think we need a MLB and move DJ to the outside, he can utilize his speed out there, we need a beast in the middle, after all they say the MLB is the QB of the defense
