Last week me, and some others, got drilled for our criticism of this team by saying its horrible, only to get people saying "Be optmistic! They'll change things around and get 10 wins on the year!"
I wonder, do you people see now why this team is horrible? The defense has more holes than swiss cheese and the offense has yet to get on track and this is game 5.
We are looking at BEST 8 wins this year. If I see anyone say we win 10 games they should be banned the rest of the year.
The defense will be lucky to hold an offense to below 20 points.
The offense will be lucky to score 20 or more points.
The coaching has been dreadful. The defense, at this point, needs the whole thing flushed. If they continue like this, as they haven't shown ANY signs of getting better, than Bates should be gone after the season. New OC too. Heck, new special teams coach. Sproles bobbled a kickoff, turned backward, took a step back, and still was able to get to the 21. And he even had help from his own team.
Its going to be a few years before we see anything special...

well one bright spot is , maybe now people will realize how stupid they looked crying and moaning over every loss over the last 7 years, screaming and crying about this player or that coach ..... .......whaaa 11-5 season we suck .......and if this season keeps going this way , get rid of the fair weather fans and be with hard core bronco fans..........

AMEN Spider.. one thing I hate is Fairweather fans. Yes, we're playing like crap, and yes we are going to be lucky to be .500 this year, but I will NEVER stop hoping. Never will I take off my "orange goggles" and every Sunday, I will be sitting in front of my TV with my jersey on, earrings on, socks on, and hope in my heart. And if I were AT the stadium, I sure as hell wouldn't leave at halftime because we're losing by a huge margin. Yes, we need some serious overhaul, and yes some changes need to be made. I'm not denying that we look like crap and are playing like it too. But i'm still sticking by the team and still gonna watch every week.

Well, I feel pretty optimistic that we'll have an early draft pic...

Broncos suck...

BUT:

GO BRONCOS!!!
Players still sound fairly optimistic in the interviews.

I didn't mean to say that I would stop cheering and rooting for them to win, but theres a difference between a realist and optimist.
Reality, this is an average at best team that will win 8 games or so, if we are lucky.
Is there a chance Bates could get canned midseason?

my point is this , I have seen bad teams in Denver , 5 seasons worth , this team ranks right up there , but it always got better , and it made winning alot more sweeter .....

Unfortunately, while this:

...if this season keeps going this way

= loss of fair weather fans

it also equals an increase in KC Chorf, Faider and Sandy Eggo trolls.

Geez...with every silver lining...

My friend, there is always a bright side. When you wake up in the morning, it's another day on this good old earth. In the big scheme of things, the ups and downs of a bronco squad, amount collectively to a hill of beans. I get a good laugh when they fall on their sword, and when they are giant killers , congrats. In any case, that bright side you are talking about, starts and ends with you.......doesn't have anything to do with the broncos..dman

I did something I have NEVER done....I stopped watching the game in the 4th quarter. I left it on , with the tiniest glimmer of hope that they would do SOMETHING good, but I turned away and did some work.

After 40 Plus years of watching the Broncos, I can honestly say that this defensive group is, somehow, the worst I can remember.
Remember how people always used to say..How can the Raiders keep losing...they have so much talent?"
We are the Raiders now.

This group wearing Orange jerseys would be an INSULT to the Orange Crush and the proud players that were members of those teams.

I will Always be a fan, I will always root for them, and the good times WILL come again...
Unfortunately I do not think that Mike Shanahan can turn this team around.
He is not a motivator ...He never really has been.
Yell all you want...tigers don't change their spots... we will suck for the forseeable future...and If Mike is still drafting even that won't help.

It is going to be a LONG few seasons.

Looking at the main page, I think we may need a few more "fainting couches" for the drama queens... :P

I've never switched off a Bronco game yet when I've been fortunate to watch. Regardless of how **** we're playing at the minute I'll also be back on here for the Pitt game shouting.

FFS Defense call that a tackle.

Where'd that running back go.

This thread is right on the money. The difference is that people who know football saw huge problems even after the 2 games we won. Homers are still trying to defend players like Coxless in some other thread. The reason ST stink is the sam reason the defense stinks. NO GOOD PLAYERS. Having Bailey on a team this bad is a waste. Broncos are 2 years at least away from rebuilding. I'm sure this won't sit well but I think we should think about trading Bailey. 2 first round picks any takers?

I will continue to watch every week. Its usually not great football, it certainly is not fundamentally sound football, and its quite often frustrating football, but it is still Broncos football. We are no different than any other fanbase, you think we are the first ones to take some big lumps? This is the nature of the league. More often than not, we've been on the other side of the rollercoaster, but sometimes it dips too, and dips hard, thats part of the ride. We've got loads of work to do, and probably the majority of these issues will not be sufficiently worked out this season, but that's how it is sometimes.

One reason it's hard to be an optimist: When Ian Gold gives up the 1st down on 2 and 33.

I saw it unfold in the pre-season game against the 49ers (GREAT START BATESY). Then I got absolutely hammered on here because (IT WAS ONLY PRE-SEASON). This team's been **** for 10 months.

well on the other hand , maybe all the sky is falling chicken****, the world is ending crowd will now know what a bad team looks like , and when we turn it around , and lose a game here and there , maybe some will stop hiking up their skirt and acting the role of the drama queen ..........

Fair enough Spide but it seems that as soon as you say anything negative about this team at present you get ****ed off for being a bridge-jumper or a drama queen.

We're still fans. We wouldn't care about the team's performance if we weren't. Problem is there's far too many Orange Spectacled wearers on here who think that it's a crime to state the obvious and that is this team is playing absolute crap football.

Part of it is a lack of talent, especially on the D-line and part of it is coaching.

Now this team deserves the criticism it is getting right now , the Dline does suck , I dont have a problem with this , but when we was holding our own just last year, we was reading the same comments we are now , who knows what will happen , but the spacing and the lining up by our D was completely off , this D was out of whack , and the offense was full of themselfs , the turnovers showed that , not securing the ball and getting cute instead of making the play .....`tell me how many Shanny was out coached threads we saw last year ? or they suck , or we got holes threads ?
now Shanny stepped up took the blame for this loss as he should have , he is the head coach , and Bates had our Defense out of whack , Shanny should have done something at half time ........ but now people will think twice about declaring one of our players suck when we turn it around ......

One reason it's hard to be an optimist: When Ian Gold gives up the 1st down on 2 and 33.

I can't blame Ian on this one. He can't cover a RB or a TE worth crap, he was left on an island, with an incredibly gifted WR. This was the fault of the coach or the safety, not Ian.
