Hi. Long time reader, first time poster.
I found this in a fitness forum.
A guy, 22, wants to have sex with a girl who's 16. I'm the dad of a 1 year old daughter. I am worried about her enough as it is, but I cant think of how much I'd worry about this if this was my daughter. I'm angry about this guy doing this, am I right to be angry? What would you do if your daughter was in this situation?
(to make things equal, you can read the 22 year old guys side on his blog, http://www.becomingapua.com/2007/09/06/having-sex-with-a-16-year-old/ )
WTF does a 22-year-old man see in a 16-year-old girl? She's much too emotionally immature. Yeah, she may be physically attractive, but that's shallow. He just wants some. Her parents need to set her straight.

So I agree here. Theres nothing wrong with being physically attracted with women like that, but acting on it is crossing the line.
That why I love watching to catch a predator... ****ing awesome show.

I dunno. Lots of 16-year olds - especially girls - are very mature. Problem is, it's against the law. Period.

I look at these types of guys as "needle dick bug ****ers". They can't handle mature women so they prey on young girls. ....and don't come back with as he put it "16 is legal in Ontario" reply. There's a difference between legal and ethical!

22....16
this is a cultural issue IMO
Many countries including our own have had marriages involving younger people which was deemed socially acceptable.
Personally, when I was 22 I wasnt interested in girls under 18 simply because there was little to relate to - not to mention her never getting to come along to nights out/club crawls..something I was very much into at that age..

Your post seems odd to me.
For those of you on the fence - would you want your 16-year-old daughter getting shtupped by a 22-year-old?

First off a 16 year old girl is probably on the same maturity level as the 22 year old. Second, shouldn't his parents be talking to him? As someone said it would depend on the intent.....and a 22 year old males intent is usually obvious.

I wouldn't want my 16 year old daughter to be "shtupped" by anyone.

He's an adult; she isn't.

When my princess turns 16, I wouldnt want her getting schtupped by a 22 year old, a 30 year old, or a 16 year old. If I had my way, no sex till at least age 26. On her wedding night. Then I might think about it.
Now on the other hand, if either of my boys, when they turn 16 have sex with a 22 year old girl, and I find out about it, so long as they don't impregnate her, or get any diseases, Ill give em a beer, a cigar, and a congrats.

My dad was 12 years older than my mother and I'm almost seven years older than my wife. It's weird. At one point in time my wife was fifteen when I was 21. We met when I was in my 30s and she in her 20s, so no big deal, but it just goes to show ya.

That's why it's all about intentions. Depending on what state she's in, she is most likely within a few months (at least a year)of legal consent anyway.

What intentions do you think he had? I have a pretty good idea!
I am 8 years older than my girl, My dad is 5 years older than my mother.
I have to ask... Just because a girl turns 18 years old, does that make he mature enough to handle and cope with having sex? I mean the day before she was 17 years and 364 days old, Does that 1 day make her more ready? Or just more acceptable???
If the story was written that the 16 year old was sleeping around with a 12-17 year old boy, would that make it any better or is it the point of a 17 year old having sex?
I already know the answer from any Father of a girl on the mane :)

That one day would make a difference in my "eye".
At 17/364 I'd see you through my "Scope" right before I pull the trigger.
At 18, I'd have to use my nightvision scope to do it!

He guessed 23 and she said he was ten years off. We now know she's dumb. Now, a lot of girls put forth an effort to look older than they are with makeup and the clothes they wear. This guy had reservations about "doing it" when he found out her real age. To me, this guy doesn't sound like a pedophile. She was clearly seducing him...

Regardless of your "legalese":
1.I pity anyone who would lay their slimy hands on my daughter before she's an adult.
2.I KNOW this deep in my heart.
3.Anyone hurts my daughter, I will hunt them down, and will find them at any cost!
4.I will sacrifice my freedom for the pleasure of ripping him to pieces!

I have one that's 16 and it's amazing how quickly they progress from "your little girl" to pain in the ass women. There is nothing that pisses me off more than to think of some guy touching my daughter but, unfortunately, as they get older you have to have a certain trust that they'll make the right decisions.

Because some parents do not foster this drive and direction, and the children should not "want and need" because their parents did not provide for them or are not able to provide for them.
Hold the parents accountable, but do not punish the children! NEVER!

In the relative scheme of things there is nothing wrong with a 22 year-old spending time with a 16 year-old. Furthermore there is nothing wrong with them having sex when they are both at the age of legal consent. That can be, depending on the state, 17, 18, and I believe there might be a state out there where it's 16.
I realize you fathers of daughters out there worry. Mostly because you think of the things you did in your youth with women, and they'll be damned if any suitor does the same with your daughters. At some point you'll have to get over this, because she is going to have sex with or without your consent. You'll just have to decide how far you want to push it. Approach it the wrong and you can potentially give your daughter intimacy issues.

In the relative "scheme of things", theoretically speaking, if you or anyone were to have sex with my daughter before she's an adult, YOU would'nt have to worry about intimacy issues anymore.
If you life through the carnage, you may be able to apply as a sideshow freak, but that would be all.
...and don't tell me how I should or should not handle issues between myself and my children. Have and raise some children before you open your trap about the right and wrong way to raise them.
Any adult who thinks it's OK to have sex with a CHILD is ****ing sick! Regardless of the "legal age".
I'm sure the father who has a gun pointed at your miserable ass will change his mind when you tell him that you "only had sex with his daughter because in the scheme of things she was of legal age".
That would just make me pump a few extra shots into your crotch!
You just don't seem to understand the nature of a Father/daughter relationship!
PS: GB, I really think you need to see someone about your position regarding sex with teenagers, before you make a mistake and end up in the hospital or possibly the morgue.
Most parents on the planet would not sympathize with your reasoning/ excuses.
We've had these discussion before and I have a clear, but disturbing picture
of your sick thought process regarding young girls.

I hear what you are saying, but yes they should live under the consequences of their parents decisions except in extreme situations. And in turn potential parents need to understand the consequences of their decisions to have children. And then it still shouldn't be up to the federal government to solve these issues. When we allow that to happen we give the federal government power over our lives, and that beast will not give it back.

What are you talking about. Never at any time did I tell you I was going to have sex with your daughter or anyone under the age on legal consent. Or that anyone should engage in sex with an underage person
Just so you know I have raised children to a degree, and have a degree in developmental psychology with a specialization on bio-psycholgy with regards to development. What does that mean? It means I have read more medical journals on the subject than you can shake a stick at. It also means that I have a firm grasp of the scientific method, research methods, the effect of and many do's and don'ts of raising people. As well the effects of neuro-transmitters on behavior in adolesent teens.
Further more, I haven't said anything that's out of line on this subject. I don't engage in any kind of activity that's illegal with any one under the law nor do I condone it.
I think you have serious problems with reading and comprehending what you are reading.
And don't threaten me again with violence. It's against the law. Something you seem to struggle with. Probably why you kids have problems with the law as well

The only problem I had with the law, was not MY problem after I challenged the Police office in court. It was his problem. He was chastized by the Judge!
I know what my rights are, and I also know how far I will go to protect my children, regardless of the law!
You were the one who came here a few months ago justifying the actions of "the coach and his teen girlfriend". That's sick! Did you learn that in college?
You are the one who keep yelping about "according to the law" and "age of consent". See how far that goes in real life, and then tell me about your studies. You need a grasp of reality in addition to book knowledge to guess what the reaction of a parent would be, and if said parent would really care about the "law on the books" vs the "law of the land"!
Keep living in dreamland!
BTW: my so called "threats" were and are not empty promises. I know in my heart if someone hurts my daughter they will regret it for the remainder of their natural life. Those are the facts, regardless of the LAW!

What I said and you still don't seem to be able to grasp was that his involvement with that girl was not pedophllia. Furthermore she is at the legal age of consent, and at that point I told everybody it was really none of their business. Lastly, I told everybody what I though the guy did wrong, and that's use his position as a coach to date a student. Which is unethical.

I'll tell you how far it goes. It your daughter decides at the age of consent to have sex there is nothing you can do about it(minus kicking her out of the house and taking away any funding you might provide). You can go after the guy and do all the violent things you want, but then you'll just end up in jail. You or any parent and that's the law of the land and the books.
While I understand that parents will protect their young, sorry brother...the kids...they grow up....what can you do?

Maybe you should re-read and attempt to comprehend my position.
On second thought, Never mind!
Have fun justifying adults having sex with (legal) teens!
I don't have to since it's legal.

Its interesting to see how many people are 'shocked' at the idea of a 22 year old sleeping with a 16 year old.
Its not that big of an age difference really. Its not out of the realm of possibility they have things in common and relate to one another.
For all you know, this 16 year old could be mature beyond her years and the 22 year old no different than a 17 year old boy.
I'd rather see my 16yo daughter (if I had one) hook up with a 22 year old guy than my 21 year old daughter with a 48 year old guy.
Like I mentioned before, 50 years ago marriage at these ages was totally normal. I bet the majority of you can look at your own family trees and see grand or great grand parents who married and started having children by similar age.
