View Full Version : NFL NETWORK: Travis Henry Stalks Shanahan - Update, Rod Woodson is a Fool

Couple interesting points from Friday's Total Access:
Adam Schefter reported that the NFL has made no decision yet about a suspension on Henry - but if they did, it would take "at least a month" before Henry would have to stop playing.
Schefter also sounded respectful of Henry's court case, and made it sound as if there was a chance he could win. In my recollection, Schefter is never shy about minimizing players' appeals, etc. And because Schefter is a house-reporter for the league, that attitude might reflect the league stance.
Schefter also sounded positive that the cap-hit - of Henry gets a year suspension - will be mild.
Mike Shanahan said that when he arrived home Thursday night, Travis Henry was waiting at the end of his driveway!! He said they talked out there for 1/2 hour, but league rules forbid him from sharing the conversation.
Rod Woodson did a film breakdown on our awful run defense, and he DESTROYED Nate Webster for blowing gap responsibilities over and over. But then again, he called Elvis Dumervil "Carlos Hall" two or three times. What a buffoon - how old a roster must he be looking at for "Carlos Hall" to come up under #92 ??

He mentioned Webster a few times, he also called out D.J. a couple of times and Gold once albeit not on the level he called out Webster. I don't see what you're bent out of shape about. Webster WAS blowing gap responsibilities when Woodson was calling him out.

I asked this in the other Travis Henry thread as well. So we won't get a decision until around week 8 or so. If that's the case then he is going to miss the rest of this season and half of next year give or take.
I'm not that worried about our running game but wouldn't it be wise for Henry drop his case and take the suspension now? Unless he has a real good shot at winning and not getting suspended.

I'm not "bent out of shape," I just think calling Elvis 'Carlos Hall' is bush league.

legally, if you violate procedure, anything you have done is pretty much null. since henry is making this a legal matter, im betting he actually does win.

Your putting a little to much into this IMO mike has an open house policy when it comes to his players and iam pretty sure they can borrow his cars and swim in his pool.

Thats stuff about Rod Woodson isnt so bad.
Now, when Rod interviewed Champ Bailey yesterday that was bad. Might be the single worst interview I have ever witnessed.

The interesting thing about the Travis/Shanny chat was that it suggests Shanny did not know about the looming suspension some weeks ago, as we all assumed.

Besides the fact that the question is ****ing retarded, teh entire interview was clunky, stammered and worthless.

Yea, that interview with Champ was so lame. Rod can be a moron. As for Henry talking to Shanny....I think that is good, maybe show the people that you care. But if he did it then there is nothing to share.

Woodson didn't just call out Webster, he called out DJ Williams, too. Showed several plays where neither looked like they knew whether to flip or fall in it.
What an embarrassment. You've got former NFL defenders and RBs basically calling our unit a joke.
As nicely as he could, Marshall Faulk said he'd be licking his chops to go against our defense and that any RB watching the tape would have trouble sleeping the night before the game. (Like Christmas.)
Don't get mad at Rod Woodson for telling the truth. Get mad at Webster, Williams and the staff for putting a product like this on the field. These guys don't even understand what gaps they're supposed to be responsible for. It's a joke.

I liked Champ's answer, though.
"Being a good tackler is more about attitude than technique. The ball-carrier isn't going to get around me. I'm going to stop him and get him on the ground."
Like I say every weekend, he and Lynch are the only guys playing out there with any heart.

I want to know what happened to the gate guard in Cherry Hills that let Henry in. That is a gated community and takes a lot to get in. Unless Shanny has his players on the entry list.

He has an open door policy with his team so i would say yes.

I didn't see the rest of what you referenced, but I turned it on just in time to see this. It was embarrassing. It looked like he hadn't seen it prior to explaining it. It was, "So here, watch this. Um, Carlos Hall fills this gap, so Marvin Webster, he, um, should maintain outside containment. And Hall follows the runner, so, um, he gets way too far inside on this. And he sees it, and his eyes have to get real wide, because he sees all that real estate in the cutback lane. And, er, he has got to fix that for LT, because he will really expose it."
In the short time he took for that segment - maybe 75 seconds - I went from awake, alert, and productive; to glassy-eyed and sleepy. I wish there was a way to count brain cells at a given time. I'm pretty sure Rod Woodson permanently killed some of my brain cells.

He put a juke move on the guard and ran right in.

Considering Rod Woodson knows about 50x more about football and especially NFL-level defense than 100% of the posters on this site, I would try to listen to what he says instead of bashing him for making an honest mistake on one of the Broncos' names.

Huh?
With all due respect, this has nothing to do with that. I don't doubt his football knowledge, compared to mine.
My business used to be "corporate training" (quotation marks, because I never really figured what to call it). Basically, a company would pay me to go give a presentation to their people. I'd pretty much take on anything from anyone who would pay me - network marketing training, sales training, etc. I'd get the material a couple weeks before the presentation, and start studying. Now, we're talking sometimes about 4 to 8 hour presentations to a group of people that live the subject matter - given by a person that probably hadn't heard of what they were selling only two weeks prior.
What I learned is that a really educated person can sound like a fool, and a fool (in this case, me :) ) can sound pretty educated. It all depends on how much you study, and then how much you practice how you present it.
As I said earlier, Woodson sounded like a guy that was watching the clips for the first time.

Why does the NFL test piss and not Hair?
Because you'd have a bunch of really large, hairless people playing football.
On the other hand, a company like Gillette would have some primo marketing opportunities.
"John Smith is a 400 pound offensive tackle for the Oakland Raiders. He recently ran a 4.2 40-yard dash. What's his secret? The Gillette Mach 4 razor. (Camera pans to unnaturally large, hairless man) 'You know, I don't leave my house without shaving my entire body with my Mach 4 razor. Because when it comes to drug testing, I'd rather be safe than sorry!'"

I'm not quite sure why you think that my post was directed at you... I'm not debating whether or not Rod Woodson is an eloquent speaker or has any charisma whatsoever... In fact, I am not surprised that he isn't a good public speaker, few ex-athletes are. What I am dismayed by is the blatant ad-hominem attacks that other posters have leveed upon Woodson, implying that because he called a player by the wrong name, he is also incorrect in his analysis of Webster/Gold/Williams/Whoever their favorite player is.

No, I wasn't saying it was directed at me, other than the fact that I was one of those ripping Woodson. I was saying the feeling I had was that he was unprepared for the segment. I actually have gotten that impression with him before. Granted, I have never really liked him, and I think he gets in some petty arguments with other hosts of Total Access. But getting the opportunity to work for the NFL Network is - well, just that - an opportunity. It's a great proving ground for higher paying television jobs. He oftentimes seems to treat it like an entitlement.
Just my opinion, though.

i still think Shanny has inculcated the culture of "Brainiacs" versus "in your face you muthafuqers". Wish we had a Romo or Zimmerman or Alzado or Gradishar on the team.
If Henry gets suspended for a year I feel bad for his nine children.
If things get REALLY bad he may even have to start wearing a condom.
