No blackout for Chiefs
The Capital-Journal
Published Friday, October 05, 2007
The prospect of the first local TV blackout of a Chiefs game since 1990 ended Thursday.
Tickets for the Sunday's noon game with Jacksonville at Arrowhead had been available all week, raising the prospect that the game might not be sold out in time for the NFL's TV blackout provisions to be lifted.
But the Chiefs confirmed Thursday that the league now considers the game to be within sellout limits, even as some individual tickets remain unsold. The Kansas City television station scheduled to broadcast the game — KCTV (Channel 5) in this case — traditionally purchases remaining tickets as a hedge against losing extensive local advertising revenue already sold for the telecast

There was probably some sort of a large-scale monster truck event that had a lot of the fan-base conflicted.

Pretty sad when the local CBS affiliate needs to buy up all the remaining seats just so they don't lose ad revenue. Then again, KC is a pretty sad place.

Maybe they can fill the empty seats with cardboard cutouts painted red! That's what Al Davis does!:~ohyah!:

I thought this was pretty common practice around the league. I know in Minneapolis that Randy Moss had a group of kids he used to buy up all the unsold tickets for and give them to. Even after he left for the Fade.

Just a douchebag move of you to make a post like that. You would think you would avoid things like that. Being a Broncos fan and all. And if it makes me Mr. Sensitive to object to an idiot like yourself making posts like that than so be it.
You are the laughing stock of this board.

"There are a lot of gangs in Denver. Just ask Darrent Williams."
Would have had a feminine side and would have been mr sensitive? It is a douchebag post and problably would anger people if the shoe were on the other foot. You are totally full of ****. There would be no Broncos if it were not for Lamar. Your welcome.

St. Louis Rams are blacked out this week against Arizona (formerly St. Louis) and the return of Kurt Warner. Broncos are the national game here so everyone is staying home to watch Denver instead. Denver must be on in KC too. Can anyone check that.

Denver:
Total MSA Population: 2,581,506
Stadium Capacity: 76,125
Percentage of population required to sell out: 2.95%
Kansas City:
Total MSA Population: 1,776,762
Stadium Capacity: 79,451
Percentage of population required to sell out: 4.47%
Just sayin.

Wise crack answers aside, I blame the possibilities of blackouts this season on Chief fans wanting a change in the front office. How else are you going to voice your displeasure other than staying away?
Also there is a couple of big games in college football going on in the area as well. Kansas St./ Kansas and Nebraska/ Mizzou going on in Columbia late Saturday evening.

That argument doesn't fly because it's common to see small football towns such as Green Bay, Tuscaloosa, Athens, State College, Norman, etc. double/triple in size on gamedays. If a team has a large following (which the Chiefs do), people will travel from all over to watch them play. The NFL is an event. There are only eight games. There is no excuse for not selling tickets.
