I gotta say.....this is what is unique about this board. You folks are tough on your own.

So many other boards would have just as many "it was just pot" threads defending the guy.

But not for you fans......run him outta town on a rail! :)

Quoted for truth! It is sad that some Denver Fans on this site think they could do a better job with owning, coaching and playing in the NFL.

Do you HEAR that? It is the sound of your phone not ringing off the hook by people looking to hire you to have any connection in the Bronco Organization!!

And the comments about " hood" regretably innappropriate!

What would Jesus do?

What would Jesus do?

He'd run to the waiver wire to pick up Selvin Young for his fantasy team.

Does anyone have specific information on how this affects him contractually? I've seen some references, but nothing concrete. If the Broncos have an out based on not triggering a drug suspension, this might not be such a bad thing.

Rocky Mountain High, your suspended.

I should sue this ****er for ticket monies.

It was pretty likely that this was going to be Selvin Young Week anyway, with Henry's injuries.

I think Denver is fine going ahead. Obviously, you're going to have some issues with a rookie back, but really - what are the options? You've got to play with the bodies you have and I think they've loaded up with a couple capable backs. Mike Bell needs to get his crap together and get back to being the same back that impressed the coaching staff last season.

It needs to be addition by subtraction -the rest of the senses get stronger when the body loses one. Going back to January, this team has been faced with more adversity than any other I've seen in a long time. It's time they get their **** together and fight their way out of this funk.

Pretty much my thoughts right now.

Maybe the postive is we can use the money to extend some contracts...Dr. Doom, Baby TO. Oh we can use the cash and get some D lineman. Yeah, that seems like a far fetched dream in Broncos country.

llayne
10-05-2007, 03:25 PM
By the way, how long is YOung's contract? Perhaps, this is good in the regards we get a cheap RB for a while and then can extend him without having two high price running backs.

This is bad, but it's not necessarily a death blow to our season. It depends on how the coaches respond. If they put Selvin in there and try and make him carry the same load Henry would have, then that will probably cost us a couple of games and the playoffs (citing the rule that you subtract at least one game for every rooky at a skill position...). If, on the other hand, they decide to abandon conservative play calling put the team more on Cutler's shoulders, things might get truly interesting. We have the receivers for it, and I think Cutler can handle it, might even thrive on it. It might be exactly what he needs to reach his potential. It might be exactly what this offense needs in order to start putting up 30 consistently.

Or maybe we're just ****ed.

This season is a lost cause, IMO, as we sit today. If Selvin is able to get it going this weekend, I will change my opinion.

Might as well open up the offense and see what happens anyway though. We sure as heck arent winning by stopping the other offense.

If you contribute...then you are welcome at CP. You don't have to like the Chiefs...you don't have to talk good about the Chiefs...you just have to contribute.

Besides that... "Johnny Come Latelys" are banned...as they are here. I don't know what instance you are referring to but I would bet money it has to do with signing up and talking **** right after a tough loss. People who post regularly or talk **** before the games reserve the right to talk **** after games.

Bill Simmons quote on Travis Henry:

Random question on the Travis Henry thing: I thought pot killed sperm cells? How many kids would this guy have sired if he wasn't a fan of the Mary Jane? Twenty? Thirty? And did you ever think the same person could potentially shatter Shawn Kemp's fertility records and Ricky Williams' drug test records? Put it this way: You are making a STRONG statement when you purchase a Henry jersey right now. You're basically saying, "I love pot, I love sex, and your dad would have a heart attack if he knew I was dating you."

What about Henry's side of the story, everyone seems to be of the opinion he is dumb why is that?

Everyone is quick to judge without seeing the evidence...Hell NFL.COM took the story off their site.

In an affidavit filed by Henry on Sept. 18 as part of his court action -- it was obtained by the New York Daily News -- he stated: "There is no valid reason why any unlawful substance would be in my urine. This must be a mistake."

Henry also noted in the affidavit: "If I fail this test, I will be suspended for one year from my employment, and will be obliged to repay all signing bonuses paid to date. ... I will be prejudiced if my expert cannot observe these tests."

You must have missed this part...

The issue being challenged by Henry is that the NFL would not allow his expert to observe the testing of the "B" sample. Although the collective bargaining agreement permits a player to have an expert present for testing, league vice president Greg Aiello said that expert cannot be affiliated with any laboratory.

The expert presented by Henry, Dr. William Closson of Long Island, N.Y., did have such an affiliation. The league provided Henry with the names of 10 independent experts as reference for his potential use.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned in the past 12 pages or not, but wouldn't it be better for Henry to just bite the bullet and take the suspension now?

Some reports are saying this could take a few weeks so say a decision isn't made until around week 8 then he would be out half of this year and half of next season as well.

F**kOakland
10-06-2007, 09:24 AM
Walker stuck up for Henry on Friday and cautioned about reading too much into the situation. "Nobody really knows the extent of it," Walker said. "We all trust Travis. Everybody on this team supports Travis. It's funny how a lot of things get blown out of proportion before everybody really knows what happens. He'll be with us the whole year. We're going to try to finish this thing strong."

Walker thought Henry would be vindicated in the end.

"We already know what the situation is," Walker said. "That will get put out at a later day and everybody will understand."

Shanahan wouldn't comment on his level of disappointment with the situation.

"If I did say I was disappointed, it would kind of give you an idea of what I was thinking," Shanahan said. "One (day) I can explain it in more detail. Now is not the time.

"I'm not allowed to do that. Not to go a different direction, I want to tell you the truth, but if I can't tell you the truth about my conversation, why would I get into detail about it?"

I submit to you the fact that Mr. Henry has 9 kids by 9 women. Further more he does not willingly pay child support. Expounding this fact is that he has already tested positive twice for drugs and has been suspended. I therefore can knowingly and willingly say Mr. Henry is D.U.M.B. DUMB!

Coaches and players do that all the time regardless. Shanahan backed up Kircus after his assault but guess what? Kircus was guilty. So it doesnt mean Travis is innocent just because some players come to his defense. Travis could easily lie to them just as much as the media and fans. And with his past history i think its ok to be skeptical of the guy. Bottom line here is, there is only one person responsible for everything that is going on. You wanna take a shot at who it is? Ill give you some time.

Now I'm curious as to what the story is that he's giving everyone. Why would they all say there's nothing to this if it were just a he said/she said thing right now where Henry was just denying everything? They sound confident and with Walker saying it was being blown out of proportion, it makes me think there's justification here. How can you justify a hot piss test? Now I'm curious

I think your confusing the issue a bit. I dont have a problem with him smoking weed. I have a problem with him smoking weed and getting suspended and hurting this team with his absence. Its his life and he can do what he wishes but when it hurts the team i have a problem with it. My opinion is if he wants to break the rules than he needs to do it for another franchise and in the process hurt their cap and team.

As for being "spoon-fed," that's a funny term. It's the term people use when they don't want to believe something. Conversely, if the media leaked a story tomorrow that Henry was totally innocent, I'm sure that would be 100% legit, and we should take it as gospel, right?

I'd be only too happy to forget about the gutless choke job that Plummer pulled for us in his last season but apparently it's cool to some to compare a young QB's mistakes (who's only started 9/10 games) to that of a ten year vet.

Comp Att Pct Yds Avg TD Int Sck SckY Rate Att Yds Avg TD FUM Lost
TOTAL 156 253 61.7 1,927 7.6 13 10 18 103 85.9 22 44 2.0 1 11 3

13 TDs
10 Ints
18 Sacks
3 Fumbles
1927 yards

World beater stats huh Jim?

Looks a lot like that loser Jake Plummer. Oh except Jake actually won his games here.

Now I dont know what your criteria for a great team is, but Denver under Jake was never it and Denver under Jay is even worse. We suck, and will continue to suck for 2 years total. By then, Jay should have all the idiot coached out of him, we might actually help our defensive line in that time, and get a real set of Linebackers and get rid of the pussies we currently have.

I hate to tell you Cutler kool aid drinkers this, but he isnt ready for prime time. He wasnt last year, he wont be this year. Next year maybe. Definately the year after that we will get to watch his greatness (provided we dont ruin him in that timespan).

Funny isnt it? The same bozo's who whined and cried all offseason about wanting fans to leave poor Jake alone and let him retire in peace are the same ones who bring him up now to pick on Jay for making the same mistakes that a 10 year vet was making.

I hear you. Only read a couple of pages. It is getting old though with this Plummer stuff. This team has enough problems now where we shouldn't need to bring him up to add insult to injury.
