Fortunately, these guys are immune from prosecution, eh? I guess they call this action "winning hearts and minds." Sounds to me like mindless cowboys creating new terrorists.

I have no doubt more than one American soldier died in retaliation to what Blackwater has been doing to the Iraqi people.

I've known some guys like this when I was in the Army. They loved their gun more than their own dick.

I always got the impression that this was a form of compensation... ;)

These guys have the mentality of the drunks who pulled off Sand Creek. And they're doing about the same thing to America's reputation.

Looks my Sand Creek analogy was right.
"It was obviously excessive, it was obviously wrong," said the U.S. military official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the incident remains the subject of several investigations. "The civilians that were fired upon, they didn't have any weapons to fire back at them. And none of the IP or any of the local security forces fired back at them," he added, using a military abbreviation for the Iraqi police. The Blackwater guards appeared to have fired grenade launchers in addition to machine guns, the official said.

Well of course!
Don't you know that everytime you ask the government to do its job in regulating predatory corporate behavior the terrorists win?

The U.S. should not allow this massacre to go unpunished. How can we hope to convince the Iraqi people of the rightness of our cause when we don't prosecute murderers?

That would be my deepest wish, however, once the Iraq Government started stating publically what it wants us to do...to me that's sign that they are as ready as they are going to be and it's time for us to roll out.

They aren't close to being ready right now. We leave, they'll get rolled, the entire group drawn, quartered, and lynched. Publically most likely. On that note, if we can't hold their feet to the fire, and get them engaged, we'll need to leave soon enough. Not all horses led to water take a drink, simple as that..dman

Doubt it. Iran would protect them. Most of the people in Iraq's government
are Iranian operatives. Where do you think people like Maliki were hiding
when Saddam was running the country? Why do you think they get so
upset when the US arrests an Iranian in Iraq?

They are in the process of "weeding" them out. How far they get in what timeframe necessary is the question. However, doubting they didn't or don't presently exist within the framework to an extent would be wrong. I agree with you on that....dman
