http://www.kffl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=213627 According to this source the Broncos are 21 million under salary cap for 2008 if salary cap is set at 116 million. Only one team will be over the cap and thats Washington. The broncos could have enough money to go after a big name free agent like Haynesworth . Whoever the broncos sign will effect the Broncos draft.Don't expect many big named free agents because they will most likely be Franshised.

I heard the same and most of the Bronco's key players are under contract. They are going to have to get their linebacker from the free agent pool as almost all of the good LBs in the 2008 draft are 220#

What if they're looking for a weak side project, or a MLB prospect with flexibility?

There are a dozen or so very good WS prospects.

Oh believe me dude, I know. :D

I had my report up yesterday, but WordPress bombed on me so my analysis of about 10 LB went down the drain.

I'll have it up soon.

Hope ya enjoy it.

The Broncos don't need a wlb because the Broncos can move DJ to the wlb. They also have Green . The Broncos should look at drafting Conner or Laurinatis in the first then move DJ to Wlb and cut Gold. Sign Haynesworth as dt ,who would be the run stopper the Broncos need. The Titans are holding teams to 65 yards a game mostly because of Haynesworth.

if Haynesworth is so good then why would the titans let him go ?

and i don't think they could play the superbowl caliber team card anymore and the titans are up and coming in there own right

They won't. Unless Haynesworth stomps on someone else he's going to get tagged faster than any other FA in this pool.

Our free agent and draft moves depend heavily on if DJ can continue to progress at MLB. If so we just need some capable OLBs to assist him, only one of whom need to be nickel down capable. It won't be that hard to fill and we could then shift our focus towards DTs very heavily.

If he doesn't though we'll need to somehow find a very good MLB while still patching the gapping hole at DT.

One suggestion I'd put forward is signing Teddy Lehman, Boss Bailey, and Randy Starks in FA. None should break the bank by any means and definitely won't get tagged. Depending on what happens with DJ we can then either draft another MLB (to battle with Lehman) or another OLB to round out the depth chart.

If its the former I'd suggest Jasper Brinkley. Big, powerful run stopper who'd be a huge asset to our interior run defense. With DJ and Boss Bailey on the wings we'd have more than enough speed to cover any gaps he might leave on the outside, and both our OLBs would be good enough in coverage for us to bench Brinkley on nickel sets. Lehman splits time with Brinkley and Webster backs up the OLBs.

If its the later then I'd prefer Shawn Crable. Good size and athleticism, he'd make a perfect sam. Bailey can play weak side with DJ in the middle, Lehman and Webster backing up. Bailey and DJ obviously would be the nickel package 'backers.

What we really need is to get one of the big three DTs from this year's upcoming class. Dorsey is obviously the preferred choice, but Ellis and Okam are both very good as well. DTs might have a high bust rate but tis the only way to get one. We need to just take the risk associated with it and hope to get that key piece. If thats simply not possible (which might happen if all three go top 15) then someone like Red Bryant would be an ok choice but we'd need some legitimate FA solution to combine with it.

Brinkley is barely 6" and pretty slow. I was watching for him in last night's game but did not see him. I know he didn't start. Is he hurt?

Not bad suggestions otherwise.

I only recommend Brinkley because he's a tackle machine but will time horribly at the combine, so we could probably get him with 4A. Value pick who should play fairly well in Bates' system.

I also think Michael Turner and could be a Bronco target in free agency. Henry could be cut and Turner would be prefect replacement. I also like Boley from Atlanta. William at WLB,Boley at the Sam and Conner or Laurinatis in the Middle. The Broncos would have the best linebacker unit in Nfl.

Brinkley tore up his knee, he's taking a medical redshirt and going back to the Gamecocks.

Shoot, we should be thinking long and hard about drafting a guy already in the state at LB... Jordan Dizon. That guy is all over the field right now.

He has what we don't have enough of in our LB unit... heart and instincts. He's just a football player. I think he has over 10 tackles in each of his game this year so far and they've played some good teams, OU, FSU, ASU.

I think he is to light to man the middle. with that being said i would love to have him on the team.

From the looks of it, we could be replacing 1, 2 or 3 LB's next year.

Gold and Williams most likely are on borrowed time here. Who know's with Webster who has moved around the league a bunch. We'll need players who can learn and play behind who we have next season.

not only do I think that we could be replacing 2 lbs I definately feel like we are gonna be drafting in the top 10.
