Alright, i'll call it what it is. Petty jealousy on my part. But Jesus Ch-ist did those guys (Tirico, Jaworski, Kornheiser) kiss Pats a-s last night. I watched the whole game, and i'm not kidding, the entire 3rd quarter was a Patriot Sausage party.

I know. The Patriots are great. With a chance to be something very special. But give me a break. Have the Patriots passed the Cowboys of the 90's on the "National give us a friggin' break on that team" level? I'm not going to lie. They(the Pats) bore me. I prefer teams that are at least interesting. Or better yet, all "all coked up" (see: Giants of the 80's, Cowboys of the 90's).

I know our Super Bowl winning teams weren't that dynamic personality wise. But you had this kid drafted out of the 6th round, who was running all over people. You had Elway searching for the elusive golden crown. The "Mile High Salute", an Offensive Lineman who peed in his pants(Sclereth) during games.
At least we had stories. I know, ultimately the Patriots just win. That's the sign of a great team.

I guess to quote John Lennon, "I'm just jealous guy..."

with Brady the pivot man man. Guess everyone's already forgotten about the last 7 years of cheating. Now that they have Moss... all sins are forgiven?

A Monday night game has to be a GREAT game for me to watch it, and it's 100% because of Kornheiser. He is the worst guy in the booth I have seen in all my time watching football - in my opinion, anyway.

The word I would use to describe the current MNF crew is awkward. I put that all on Kornheiser. For one, he doesn't know much about football. So when he makes stupid comments, it puts Tirico and Jaworski in horrible positions. Should they call him on it? Should they gently correct him? Should they just act like he didn't say it?

I have a brother who is not a football fan. When we're together on Thanksgiving, I am always embarrassed for him during football games. He just makes comments that are ridiculous - only, he doesn't understand they're ridiculous, because he doesn't watch football. That's Kornheiser, in my opinion. So why put a guy like that in the booth? Good question.

The other thing that bugs me is his monologues. You can tell he writes out about five or six monologues for each game, like he was writing a column. Then he looks for his chances to recite them. But there's just no room in a game to go off on a 90-second monologue. So, a play will be over, and he'll start in. The next play runs, and he's still going. Something significant will happen, and Tirico will interrupt him to note it. Kornheiser will stop, let Tirico call the play, then start right where he left off. There's no mention of the 80-yard touchdown that just occurred. He just has to finish his monologue.

Oy vey! They could have put Rosie O'Donnell in the booth. That would have been worse. Carrot Top, too. Other than that, I'd be willing to give it a shot.

Yep... but from my perspective, the worst part is that he just tries to outshout/"talk over" everyone else in the booth, probably because on PTI, it's acceptable to interrupt... and the perceived debate "winner" is usually the guy who yells the loudest. In the booth, that's just rude.

Wrong.

Most of us were watching Heroes. **** the Rockies. They have no chance and have nothing but fairweather bandwagon fans anyway.

Good point. And both what you said and I said lead me to the same question - one that I will never get.

Why do NFL producers feel they need to add entertainment in the booth?

Here's the concept, guys. People are watching the games because they are NFL fans. People that want to be entertained will switch it over to Two and a Half Men. NFL fans watch the games FOR THE GAMES!

Duh!

That's not to say you don't need good people there. You just don't need gimmicks. Dan Fouts was a great example. Is he dynamic? No. Is he a comedian? No. Does he know a whole lot about football? Definitely. And is he smart enough to sense when his knowledge and experience can be insightful? YES!

There are A LOT of people that have those qualities. Unfortunately, they don't garner headlines like, "DENNIS MILLER TO CALL MFN!" And for that reason, we real football fans suffer.

Heroes is what Tivo is for. I haven't watched a show like that while it's really on in five years, I bet.

IMO, the very best "booth guy" is Al Michaels... but we've definitely been subjected to some annoying announcers. From Theisman to Kornheiser to Randy Cross, the list of guys who make you reach for the "mute" button is way longer than the list of announcers who actually have something to positive to contribute...
