No, I'm not going to sit here and outline Addai broke every defensive players ankle or how the offense simply cannot seem to get in the end zone consistently. Yes these are all issues now that the early part of the season is creeping into mid-season.
So then, what seems to be the trouble with these Broncos?
Must be the new defensive scheme right? Excuses! 'nuff said.
Must be the young QB right? Maybe if he wasn't efficient and smart between the 20's I'd believe it.
Special teams is killing us then right? While this is annoying it obviously doesn't matter too much when you see Manning get the ball at the 25 and score like he's playing against a practice squad.
No, these are all symptoms. The real issue I saw watching todays game is a team with no confidence and no passion. This team is going through the motions. They started quickly with the perfect game plan against the defending Super Bowl champions and I never once felt like the Broncos themselves thought they could win the game. They looked like they were waiting for the other shoe to drop...which of course it did.
Look out Bronco fans, if this team shows the level of interest in the rest of their games they showed in this one they'll be lucky to finish .500. How do you play the defending Super Bowl champions, a team who has embarrassed you over the last several years, and play like you were indifferent to the outcome for the entire game? They say Cutler is calm, cool, and collected...well controlling your emotions when you play for Vanderbilt losing over and over seems like it turns into acceptance at some point. We've been told it will come together, don't worry, its just little things by the team. Well I am officially accusing them of apathy. Prove me wrong Broncos.
