Denver
• Diagnosis: Loss of consciousness against the run
• Cure: The Broncos are 2-1 but could easily be 0-3, as they've allowed an average of 166 yards rushing. Defensive coordinator Bob Slowik needs to use more eight-man fronts, mixed with zone run blitzes and stunts to improve the poor run defense. Slowik also might move the alignment of his undersized defensive ends inside to spill the running game outside to the team's fast linebackers.
They're doing some corny story about how all the teams need to be fixed. My only question is who the hell is Bob Slowik? I thought our d-coordinator was Jim Bates, does Slowik call the plays?

Keep your head down Meck, I already posted this and got lambasted for being ignorant and not knowing my team. To be fair, I lambasted ESPN for being ignorant hacks for posting this. Just saying, the article is TECHNICALLY CORRECT!
Jim Bates - Assistant Head Coach/Defense
Bob Slowik - Defensive Coordinator/Defensive Backs

You guys need to look at the actual job titles, which is all those idiots at ESPiN do. Technically speaking our OC is Rick Dennison.

Teams now days are loading up on Coaches as their salaries don't count against the cap. So now we are seeing more and more coaches so that more individualized attention is given to each area. This should translate into better coaching. Now Sloick is technically the DC but they are running the bates system and he is an assistant head coach of Defense. That trumps the DC in our system so I would say he is calling the shots.
Too many chiefs sending way too much smoke signals.
No wonder the poor donks on the line don’t know which way to go.

Whoever wrote this is high. Zone blitzes for the run game? It's exclusively a tool against the passing game when you know to a high degree of certainty what the protection scheme is and who the hot is. It is horrible vs. the run. Yeah, lets DROP lineman vs. the run. Run blitzes are fine, but they have to be man blitzes, never zone blitzes. Pinch the ends, yes...this will help the inside run defense, but it eliminates your pass rush.

The Broncos are 2-1 but could easily be 0-3
This is such a dumb thing to say. Hey, genius, we could also easily be 3-0. This type of reasoning is absolutely retarded. We are 2-1 and lead the division by a game and those are the facts.

I'm think he means the LB'S showing a Zone coverage and then attacking with a blitz.
The Steelers use this alot in their scheme.
But here's the funny thing... last week verse Jacksonville the BRONCOS did blitz the run... of course they ran past the running back or the QB and gave up huge gains.
