A staple of Shanahan's teams has always been getting an early lead, or at least starting fast offensively. Now, the following does not take into account who the QB is or field position. It is merely a comparison. Take it for what it is worth, but interesting regardless:
Last 19 games with Kubiak/Shanahan running the offense the Broncos scored 81 offensive points in the 1st Quarter, with 40 of those points scored on the first possession.
First 19 games with Heimerdinger/Shanahan running the offense the Broncos scored 51 offensive points in the 1st Quarter, with 14 of those points scored on the first possession.
Our current Defense could obviously benefit from playing with a lead. Discuss.
