View Full Version : Continuing The Hixon Jokes Will Result In A Ban From Here On Out

OK, so I don't have any power to ban.

But let's just have a friendly board agreement that we're going to jump on a bandwagon that deserves to be jumped on (Marshall, anyone?) and forget about this Hixon guy who will be lucky to have a job through the end of the year.

Many thanks to Alec for bringing this up in the other thread. It was his idea, and he's absolutely correct. Hixon is, as the French would say, "le suck."

Hixon has the speed, which is why I assume Shanahan kept him over Morgan or Clark. He just needs to vision to see the holes and hit them. I think he'll come around soon enough, but we should have someone else back there part of the time until Hixon learns to use his talents effectively...

I just can't imagine Shanahan can justify using him against next week. It's just gotten silly. The guy doesn't have any talent... or if he does, it's not as a kickoff returner.

Yeah, but it was a tackle-contact fumble - more or less understandable, at least explicable, and alot better than all the muffed punts we had from Clark/Kircus and the parade of others the past couple years.

I think he'll be fine. He was close to breaking a couple today.

I understand he didn't just fumble on his own but it still hurt.

Denver gave them 6 points in the second half. That fumble really hurt.

The Hixon jokes stem from how this board latches on to at least one second day draft pick/UDFA every training camp and the guy gets hyped like he's actually going to make a difference.

Wesley Duke anyone?

It added a little extra funny that Hixon is actually an ok talent. We shouldn't be discounting him when he's definately doing a better job than Kircus/Morgan did and this is from a guy who didn't get to play football all last year. Its too early to write him off as a bust, even if he did cost us pretty badly yesterday.

I still haven't seen anything from Hixon that gets me excited about him being on our team. His performance yesterday didn't do anything to help that cause either.

I'm not totally discounting him yet, but dude has got to lose the deer in headlights panic when he sees people running at him.

Praise the Lord, everyone is starting to see the light. I post this thread about two weeks ago http://www.orangemane.com/BB/search.php?searchid=98794. But I realize that signing Bloom is not the answer it was just hopefull thinking. But Hixon is not what everyone has hyped him to be! Espcially Footsteps27, sorry pal, the real slim Hixon stood up fumbled the ball and gave the other team 6 points! CUT HIS A$$!

I always take the jokes as making fun of the bandwagon jump for him when he is so unproven. I didn't think people thought he was lightning in a bottle. So at least for me I will continue to make the jokes as its making fun of the bandwagon rather than praising it.

Why don't we use Selvin Young as a KR/PR. I like his vision when running the ball. I know he had a fumble too, but that is part of the game. TD started on STs as well...

Will be interesting to hear what people think about this...

Hixon is fast but his strides are too long. He runs like he's going out for a fly pattern. Kick returners need smaller quick strides so enabling them to cut faster.

Hixon making a cut??? He seems to map out the shortest route from where he catches the ball to the goalpost. I believe he uses MapQuest!ROFL!

The fact that he was a standout return man in college, comparable in production to Maurice Jones-Drew, Reggie Bush, and Devin Hester.

The guy spent an entire year rehabbing a broken foot. Despite being rusty as hell he's at least as good as Morgan or Kircus ever were. So he had a contact fumble yesterday. Big deal, everyone does at some point. If you're going to throw a guy under the bus for that then you should consider why you're such a panicky bitch, and be prepared to do the same with every other player on our team. No one goes all season without making a mistake.

Agreed. I liked the Hixon jokes DURING THE OFFSEASON. It WAS funny but he's killing us during the regular season. No more Hixon Jokes? Are you kidding me? After all the Faux Adulation that he didn't earn and he repays us with what? That? If THAT isn't funny I don't know what is?

For God's sake man, lets get real here. You're talking about a 2nd year player who just played his 3rd game after a year on IR, and because he's still not playing up to potential he has "no talent"?

No offense Popps, but do you think about these things before you say them? Geez.

And Peyton Manning threw a record setting number of picks in his rookie year, which this basically is for Hixon.

I'm not saying Hixon is a sure fire stud in waiting, or even a long term NFL player for that matter, but the talent and performance history is there. We shouldn't throw him under the bus after three games and one fumble caused by contact.

Our special teams woes stem from an entire unit that doesn't do their jobs. I know the KR/PR is the most noteworthy non-kicker in the bunch but that doesn't mean he has mind control over the other 10 guys who haven't given him a decent blocking set up all season, or the 11 guys who can't seem to tackle a damn thing on our own coverage unit. Hell, even our HOF kicker and All-Pro punter are putting up pretty mediocre performances so far this season.

I say we try the Sam Adams experiment.

Have someone field the fall for him and hand it off to him Ala the Fridge. Have a Broncos employee hold up a honey baked ham in the air just behind the endzone.... Lets see who wins... big Sam or the little gunners speeding down towards him.

At least it would be entertaining.... Gunner left 'BOING' bounces off Sams left thigh. Gunner Righ "WHACK' gets his face mask crushed in the grass... thre - four guys hanging off his back as Sam inches down the middle of the field.

No need for a wedge. Sam IS the wedge. The other 10 players need only to follow behind and beside him as to swat and drag away the gnats jumping on his back and clinging to his ankles.

GET THE HAM SAM. IT'S HONEY BAKED!!!!!!!!!!

Hixon is just like all the other WRs over the years who got a lot of hype in training camp and ended up not doing anything. That's where the Hixon jokes came from. We all saw the writing on the wall, so we just had fun with it.

Hester fumbled or put the ball on the ground three times this week, not that it means anything. Hixon does need to get better and fast. To me we kept him because of his "upside". Which so far seems to be very little.

How dare they doubt HIXON.

I do feel that I did hurt hixon on a couple returns as I was facing west when I coughed and he fell over just a few seconds later. I could have farted on the fumble, too many nachos at the half.

Hester fumbled the Miami game away last year. That is his one knock. If he catches it he is gone but he cannot do that consisently.

He flat out dropped a punt and a kick off. He also had another kick off stripped out of his hands. I didn't even watch the whole thing so there could have been more.
