he saves atleast 1 tackle a week on special teams, makes half the tackles on defense regardless of where the ball is, basically IS the entire defense. where would we be?

It's a fair question as he is the only one that seems to show any fire on D.

Our defense needs a leader. Champ can't lead from the corner, as much as he tries. And you saw what happened to the D once Lynch went out. The MLB has to be the leader, and set the tone. DJ is unwilling or unable to do that. He needs to be relieved of his MLB spot. Heck, Webster shows more fire than Gold or DJ -- let him give it a shot. Or just call Al and ask if he wants to cripple himself giving it one last shot.

I'll give it a shot...
Without Bailey, we'd still be in huge trouble.
Look at what happened today. Jax just exploited the middle of our D all day long. Did they even throw at Champ? Maybe a couple of short ones. They didn't NEED to.
Why bother risking throwing at Champ when you've got SO many other options to exploit? Run it up the middle on our softies. Throw it in the middle of the field. There is NO chance of a TE being covered on any play.
Hell, just have your QB run the ball. Our LBs will be confused, chasing down RBs or TEs somewhere.
How long have I been saying this? Champ Bailey is wasting away on our defense. It's only the occasional stupidity of opposing teams that even gets Champ involved. (And his great run support, etc.)
Bly and Bailey are a breeze to take out of the equation for opposing defenses.

Hate to say it, but we need a Ray Lewis... or an Urlacher, and we need some hammers up front. That's the long and short of it.

How about a Patrick Willis?

He is a standout and rookie starter on an underated D.

I was hoping we could pull another miracle out of our butt and get this kid. It would have been a heck of a miracle. I'm half way rooting for them just cause of this kid.

We missed the boat last year on DeMeco Ryans.
Patrick Willis is overrated.

Here's an example of the difference he was able to make in 2005 alone. (http://fireshanahan.blogspot.com/2005/12/champ-bailey-factor-and-other-tales-of.html)
