Congrats to the Wolverines for beating 10th ranked Penn St. 14-9. But, there is a lot more to this story. JoPa is out of his league now, its past his time. The fact that the Nittany Lions defense held a powerful Michigan offense to 14 points is outstanding. But, the fact that JoPa didnt look at the film of the first two games against App. St. and Oregon is absolutely ridiculous. The Wolverines have a weakness against spread offenses and JoPa didnt capitalize on that knowledge. Even when he was down just 7-3 he still tried to stick with the run of the mill offense which played into Michigan's hands all day. I dont care how Penn St. racked up points during their first few games. If im going to play Michigan im going to exploit their weakness, especially when i know my defense is good enough to slow them down offensively. It was a gritty win for Michigan but it was Penn State's coaching crew who gave this one away. I know that Joe Paterno is a staplemark there but he is past his prime.

It's not that easy to make your team a spread offense. Penn State recruits players to play within their system which is smash mouth football. Trying to turn Morelli into a spread option QB would be like asking Hawaii to go to a wishbone running offense. Michigan stacks up well with the most of the Big Ten (with the exception of OSU). I can't believe I stuck up for PSU being a big Michigan fan but you can't turn a team into something it isn't, doesn't work that way.
