I posted weeks back about the problems I was having with my job and looking for direction. Well, I continued to be down and out when all of a sudden a oppertunity came out of no where. I was called 4 days ago to work at a radio station. I will start in advertising, move to production, and the be the sports director in 3 months. The money is less by 5k, but it seems like a dream come true. I would like to thank the poster's who sent me messages and also gave out rep with advice. There are alot of smart, good hearted people here on the orangemane. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats man. I have some advice on radio sales. It is really cut throat depending on the market you are in. I did it in Tucson for about 6 months but hey it sounds like you needed a change and ANY change will be good for you.
Go get em!

Congrats, Storm!! Glad to hear that you found something that will make you happier! Work isn't always about the money....it's about enjoying it. You spend too much time there to hate it!

Meck77, any advice would be appreciated. and once again thank to all of you for the help. Just think, in 4 months my job will be to cover games, report on games, and host talk shows. Does it get any better than that? No more credit scores, down payments, warranty problems, floor plans, and mad 70 year old people.

I hear you guys on the job issue. Our ChildCare center closed 3 years ago. I have been subbing since. (at the same place though...) No,I am not making as much or getting as many hours, but at the same time, I can choose to work or tell them I'm busy...It makes it that much easier to go on vacation when I want!...It's a lot less stressful than being "in charge" like I was. Another plus...I'm not as "burnt out" and my health is better. (Of course, other investments makes it an option that few have.)
Congrats and good luck storm

I might as well share my great news in this thread... They have been talking about promoting me to director of marketing for my company for some time... Starting October first, they're moving me into that role! It's going to be a great opportunity, and by moving me into the role, they're taking a TON of stuff off of my plate that was bogging me down. The official move won't be until January first (when it sounds like the pay will come with the position), but I will be "effectively" in that position starting in October!

Right on Taco. Looks like Z is going to need a new pair of shoes soon. Dude looks just like your Plummer hating ass.;D
Make sure you save some of that new found money as you still owe me a sixer but no rush. I'll take it the next time I see you person.
Storm you obviously have sales experience. Radio is just one of those intangible things you'll get use to selling. It was similar to selling title Insurance to realtors/lenders. I did that for about a year as well. The reality is you are selling yourself to your clients as much as the radio itself.
You'll do fine man. Good luck.
