Nothing these despicable bastards does surprises me anymore. I tell you one person who is really glad that Bush is as worthless a boil on the asshole of history as he is, and that's Nixon, lying in his grave. Now he has somebody to point to and say, "See? I wasn't so bad."

Yep.
Bush and his gang of thugs make Tricky Dick's crew seem like boy scouts by comparison.

Nixon was forced to resign after his party was revealed trying to bug
the phones in the offices of his political opponent.
Bush bugs the phones of every American, gets caught doing it,
and the Congress passes a law allowing him to do it even more.
Anyone see something wrong with this picture?

Yeah, it just took the GOP another two decades to perfect its symbiotic relationship with the wealthy interests for whom Dubya and today's GOP are nothing more than proxies.
If Watergate were to happen today, Fox News and the rest of the right-wing media apparatus would simply go on the attack against Cox, Woodward, Bernstien, et al, with massive smear campaigns, re-frame the issue as a politically-motivated attack on the president, and that would be the end of it.

Actually President Nixon is probably one of the three or four greatest personal heroes of mine (and IMO, one of the very finest, if not the finest post-WWII president), so I'm not sure I'd agree with your analogy (actually, let me amend that, I AM sure that I DONT agree with it :) ), but in any case, I would agree that President Bush has been a great disappointment in several respects.

He was pretty much a puppet for Hoover's paranoid fantasies.
