Found this online.... I thought the practice squad players all had to be paid the same. And if not, does this count against the cap? Anyone know for sure?

Rewarding work
The Patriots paid a full salary to offensive lineman Billy Yates last year, even though Yates - now on the active roster - was a member of the practice squad. The move was a reflection on how the Patriots valued not only Yates but also others on the practice squad.
This year, the Patriots are paying receiver Bam Childress almost double the $79,900 practice squad minimum, rewarding him with a $150,000 salary. Meanwhile, running back Kyle Eckel is making $125,000.
Childress played the role of Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson on the scout team in the week leading up to Sunday's victory, work that was lauded by coach Bill Belichick.

No they don't count against the cap.

Denver has given large Signing bonuses to undrafted guys that end up on the Practice Squad. Don't know if they get the same yearly salary though.

My understanding is that the highest paid 53 players on all team roster lists ( active, practice squad, IR, PUP) count against the cap.

Does that mean you do not have to count the lowest 6 players on the roster if you pay practice squad players more money?

As I understand it, if a practice squad guy is one of the 53 highest paid players, he would be counted and someone else with a lower salary would not.
