OMAHA, Neb -- State Senator Ernie Chambers is suing God. He says it to prove a point about frivolous lawsuits.

Chambers says senators periodically have offered bills prohibiting the filing of certain types of suits. He says his main objection is the constitution requires that the doors to the courthouse be open to all. Chambers said, "Thus anybody can file a lawsuit against anybody - even God."

Chambers said he decided to file this lawsuit after a suit was filed in early September in federal court against Lancaster County Judge Jeffre Cheuvront. He's the judge who was hearing a sexual assault case, where the woman wants to use the words "rape and victim" during her testimony.

Chambers lawsuit, which was filed on Friday in Douglas County Court, seeks a permanent injunction ordering God to cease certain harmful activities and the making of terroristic threats.

The lawsuit admits God goes by all sorts of alias, names, titles and designations and it also recognizes the fact that the defendant is “Omnipresent”.

In the lawsuit Chambers says he’s tried to contact God numerous times, “Plaintiff, despite reasonable efforts to effectuate personal service upon Defendant (“Come out, come out, wherever you are”) has been unable to do so.”

The suit also requests that the court given the “peculiar circumstances” of this case waive personal service. It says being Omniscient, the plaintiff assumes God will have actual knowledge of the action.

The lawsuit accuses God “of making and continuing to make terroristic threats of grave harm to innumerable persons, including constituents of Plaintiff who Plaintiff has the duty to represent.”

It says God has caused, “fearsome floods, egregious earthquakes, horrendous hurricanes, terrifying tornadoes, pestilential plagues, ferocious famines, devastating droughts, genocidal wars, birth defects, and the like.”

The suit also says God has caused, “calamitous catastrophes resulting in the wide-spread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth’s inhabitants including innocent babes, infants, children, the aged and infirm without mercy or distinction.”

Chambers also says God “has manifested neither compassion nor remorse, proclaiming that Defendant “will laugh” when calamity comes.

Chambers asks for the court to grant him a summary judgment. He says as an alternative, he wants the judge to set a date for a hearing as “expeditiously” as possible and enter a permanent injunction enjoining God from engaging in the types of deleterious actions and the making of terroristic threats described in the lawsuit. .

Chambers, is pretty much a transparent individual. He's on the TV here in Omaha enough for me to make a call on the guy. Can't wait till he's out of office...dman

*He attempted to get the rules changed through the state legislature here so he could stay in office longer. That attempt was blown up hard by his fellow reps in the legislature. Bye bye ernie.

Bye bye ernie.Once again, your "facts" aren't even close, in fact, you have it completely backwards as there were no term limits and other people wanted them to force him out.

"America is basically a hypocritical society and recognizes that hypocrisy is found throughout. The public doesn’t look for politicians to tell the truth or to deliver on their promises... Politicians know this. Even when the public seems to be upset, the politicians know if they can put on a brave face and ride it out, they generally will." - Ernie Chambers.

Chambers' frequent use of legislative rules (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernie_Chambers) and filibusters to block proposals he opposes has caused friction with some of his colleagues in the Legislature.

After being first elected to the Unicameral in 1970, then re-elected in 1972, 1976, 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2004, it has been suggested by opponents of legislative term limits that a 2000 amendment limiting senators to two four-year terms had been conceived largely to force him out

Ernest W. Chambers generally known as Ernie Chambers, (born July 10, 1937) is a Nebraska state legislator from Omaha, representing legislative District 11 in North Omaha. Chambers is considered one of the Legislature's most controversial and colorful members, known for his long filibuster speeches on the Legislature floor.

Ernie Chambers is a long-time member of the North Omaha community, a historic civil rights leader in Omaha's black community, and widely-regarded as Nebraska's most prominent and outspoken black leader. He has been regarded by national media as "the Maverick of Omaha," the "angriest black man in Nebraska," and the "defender of the downtrodden".[1]

After growing up in North Omaha in the 1940s, Chambers was a barber when he first appeared in the Oscar-nominated 1966 documentary film A Time for Burning. During this period he emerged as a prominent leader throughout the community, as illustrated in his instrumental role during the 1966 riots, when he successfully negotiated concessions from the city's leaders on behalf of African American young people.[2]

First elected to the Nebraska State Legislature from Nebraska's 11th District in 1970, he was most recently reelected in 2004. On April 25, 2005, Chambers became the longest-serving state senator in the Legislature's history, with more than 37 years to his name.[3] A constitutional amendment passed in 2000 limits Nebraska state legislators to two four-year terms. Because of this, Chambers will not be allowed to seek reelection in 2008.

Chambers was the New Alliance Party candidate for U.S. Senator from Nebraska in 1988.[4]. He petitioned to be included on the ballot for Nebraska Governor in 1974[5], and ran for Nebraska Governor in 1994, losing with just .44% of the vote.

He holds a law degree from Creighton University law school but is not a member of the bar and does not practice law. He also hosts a weekly call-in public access television show on Omaha Cox Channel 22. He has always been a non-drinker and non-smoker. He commonly wears a black or blue T-shirt in legislative sessions, rather than a suit. Ernie is also a graduate of Omaha Central High School.

To prove a point about frivolous lawsuits, on September 14, 2007, Chambers filed a lawsuit against God, seeking a permanent injunction ordering God to "cease certain harmful activities and the making of terroristic threats"

Once again, your "facts" aren't even close, in fact, you have it completely backwards as there were no term limits and other people wanted them to force him out.

Why, because wikipedia says so? What is this moveon.org? Talk about gullible, you are redefining the definition of gullible. Aren't even close? Give it a rest. The world as BB sees it, my way or the highway. My name is BB and you are wrong, just because I interpret it different than you. Quit being a moron, quit hanging your freaking hat on unreliable sources like moveon.org, wikipedia, and all the others. It's NOT A FACT they wanted to force him out, that's the card the his supporters played when they passed that measure in 2000. Fact is YOUR facts are questionable. But, it's in wikipedia so it must be right, right? Give it a rest...dman

*Fact is, it's time for him to go, many folks around here are tired of the guy and some of his antics. Then again, THAT isn't in wikipedia, so it couldn't be true could it? Maybe it's on moveon.org, let's check there. Nope, not there either, so it must be made up. Yeah sure. If you lived here for a while, you'd know what I'm talking about. You need to sign with moveon.org, you are perfect for the job. Smear and innuendo your way across the net. Then threaten candidates wives when they come out against what you say is the truth, when we all know it's a bunch of malarky. Have a ball.

He attempted to get the 2000 legislation turned back to allow him to stay in place. No correction needed there, your point of view is the only thing that is incorrect. With that said, don't you tired of having the wrong point of view and having to be corrected? ...dman

You posted this outright lie...
He attempted to get the rules changed through the state legislature here so he could stay in office longer He didn't attempt to get any rules changed. You continually post sh*t here that is either completely made up or so far from the truth that it borders on lies.

Before you open your mouth again you'd do well to Google it first.
